My kneepads are the same as the ones in the vid I think, and I own a neck brace that doesn't look completely unlike that pillow Seriously why is mtb so obsessed with fashion? Maybe because the average age on here is about 17? (Yours sincerely, a middle aged software engineer).
Every time stuff like this comes out I go back to my full legal name for a week. (yeah, I actually go by Joey) Why don't "Matthew" or "David" ever get sh*t? Screw you guys, I'm going home.
Ah, thanks for reminding me that if I don't spend thousands on all the coolest gear and just like to ride around and have fun on my bike that I'm lame.
Funny on one hand. Not at all funny on another.
Exactly dude. Can we make a new subdiscipline that's all about posing and fashion so the rest of mtb can go back to just being fun? Oh maybe that's what enduro was meant to be doh!
the cuts where they are loading the bikes in the truck....part of me really wanted to see them shuttle like 40 feet up the road to hit the same stairset haha this video made my day
HHHHHHHHHhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! That is well funny, are those the new clipless platform spd flat cleated slip ons for xc enduro specific downhill Kyles wearing, can I get them custom colour for my bike?
I'm sure I'm going to get a lot of hate and negative props and all that for saying this but what the hell... I'm trying to imagine any pros in another sport making a video mocking the very people who aspire to be like them.
I don't see what's not to like about this vid. They ride professionally every day for a living, don't you think they want to just have fun and goof off sometimes? I'm happy to have a different kind of video that makes me laugh and doesn't have the same kind of music as every other video on the internet.
Come on, for one third of the price you get waterproof real mountain shoes instead of those bulky skate ones with sticky soles that constantly slip whenever you come down from the bike...
Five tens are way overrated, there is so much room for improvement and development there that I wonder why none of the big players stepped in yet. But maybe they just realized that hiking and approach shoes are just fine and they'd be reinventing those.
Don't knock them until you try them! My 5.10's have never slipped a pedal and they don't get all chewed up after a month of riding. I found a pair for $60 at my local shop. They are durable and WELL worth the investment if you ride your bike often!
honestly i think all the 5.10s look gay as fuck besides maybe the maltese falcons if they didnt have the velcro. if i was gonna get anything it would be the teva links but they discontinued those.
@wiscobiker those scarpas are exactly what I'm talking about, I really believe approach shoes are better suited for mountain biking. Real mountain biking I mean, the one where you have to gain the mountain top pedalling uphill, crossing rivers, occasionally doing some portage over too rocky sections and only then have fun on the descent. 5/10s are perfect if you only ride park or dirt lines or downhill. But if you ride all mountain they are subpar. By the way pedal slip is just a meme... with good pedals and good pumping skills pedals just don't slip. A good approach shoe, with ankle and heel support, gtx fabric, dwr coating and a nice sticky sole, could really be optimized to become the perfect mtb shoe. See for instance all good development going on with clipless all mountain/enduro shoes, it puzzles me that for flat pedals we're still using skate shoes...
I have had it with my 5.10s, never again. They *are* chewed up after a year of riding - sole coming off, no longer safe to use. They never dried out after a wet ride.
@justgivemeanavailableusername right on man. Approach shoes are so much more functional for actually being out on the trail, and the grip is exactly the same. If anyone doubts that, think about why 5.10 is called 5.10.... they make CLIMBING shoes. Any shoe with a climbing rubber sole is going to grip exactly the same as those puffy skate shoes, and they won't suck for everything else in the world.
This is urban biking, where some of the best riders are exposing a greater portion of the public to MTB. This gives the average person a chance to see the face of MTB.
Pretty sure in a few of the episodes from last year's show Steve and the syndicate get into some pretty hilarious stuff. Maybe you should watch the video's again, I know I cracked up many times (esp. because of Ratboy) and thought to myself that Steve is a lot more funny than I thought, and laid back, my type of guy. You saw the episode near the end with him and Cedric....RIGHT?! You're telling me that whole episode didn't leave you in stitches? I LMAO'd many times, especially the part at the end when they go to the beach....
I don't know... I guess I just missed it. The whole time I was just wondering, "Why is that guy wearing moon boots and a travel pillow?" The term Joey flew right over my head until I read the comments. Maybe it's age, maybe it's geographic, but I've never heard it. Or maybe it's just me. I didn't get it.
As an aside, I didn't mean to neg rep your comment. I'm using the phone for the first time to comment here. Man, I guess I am just out of it. I swear I'm not 70 and generally baffled by modern times, though it certainly seems like it right now. Anyway, if it makes you feel better, add two to your reps. I meant to give you a positive. Sorry!
My theory is that all the Australians working at Whistler called the beginner tourists riding the bike park "Joey's", comparing them to the baby Kangaroo's of the same name.
Two of my mostest favoritest riders ever, wasting my time. The only thing worse than this pointless video was the worthless Vimeo "player" used to try to play it. :/
It would be lame if this was just one of those slowmo vids, but these guys are actually capable of moving that slow. The images are at full speed. It would be nice if we all had that kind of time to pull off tricks. Damn Super Humans!!!
That's like using a sandwich bag as a condom........
