Casey and Carl's Cali Trip - Day 1
by Casey Groves
Nov 21, 2008
It's been an exciting wait, I have never been so eager to go anywhere in my life. All last night I packed, got all of my bike gear ready to go and went to sleep. Although, it is not very easy to sleep when you are excited for the next day to come. It's like waiting on Christmas, only better!
I'm heading to California with Carl from Transition bikes and we'll be keeping you posted all week:
I'm heading to California with Carl from Transition bikes and we'll be keeping you posted all week:
I woke up early Thursday morning and hopped in the shower. Then I ate some breakfast and gathered all my charging electronics. My mom and I drove to the Kelowna airport and got myself checked into my flight to Seattle. This was my very first flight in my life, and the lucky guy I am, no parents were coming with me. Although I do wish they could have come with me. My flight was short and smooth. I arrived at Seattle-Tacoma Airport around 1 o’clock and found my luggage to send to my connecting flight to Burbank, California.
I was pretty nervous about how to find my stuff and where I am supposed to go next. And with my luck, I had to end up taking two terminal trains to direct me in the right path. Carl Buchanan from Transition Bicycle Company is joining me on my trip to take photos and have a good time. Bummer thing about him is he can’t ride do to a chipped shinbone that occurred from attempting a tail-whip to tire tap at a local skate park in Bellingham.

I met up with Carl around 2:30pm and we sat down and talked about our plan for the trip. It was about an hour and a bit till our next flight at 4:20, therefore we just hung out and talked a bit, looked through a couple bike related magazines then headed to gate D3 to board our flight to California!
The flight was great, only being just over two hours of duration it only seemed like one. I took advantage of the free juice and party mix that the nice airplane attendants came by and handed out. We flew over many beautiful cities that I have no clue of the names of on our way to Burbank.
Once we arrived Carl and I grabbed our gear including my bike, and rented a car to drive to San Diego where we are meeting up with other riders for the replacement event of Super Sessions.
More photos will be up soon.
Can’t wait to see what tomorrow has in for us to conquer.
Talk to you tomorrow!
