Mountain bike icon, Cedric Gracia has added another Crankbrothers component to his bike - the Highline dropper seatpost. After seven months of personally test-riding the Highline around the globe, from Australia to Argentina to Andorra, Cedric has signed a multi-year agreement to keep his bikes outfitted with Crankbrothers' newly released dropper post.

“The best part about the Highline is how reliable it is. When I am out riding and racing with my friends all over the world I need to know I can count on my components, and I know I can count on the Highline for every ride,” said Gracia.

“Our award-winning Mallet E is already the pedal of choice for Cedric, and now we are thrilled that he has chosen our seatpost. He had his choice of any post on the market and he decided on the Highline. It says a lot about the efforts we've put into the performance and reliability of our products,” said Kellen Trachy, Crankbrothers Global Marketing Manager.

About the Highline

The cable-actuated Highline features 125mm of infinite travel adjustment, made possible by a fully sealed and self-contained hydraulic cartridge. User-friendly features include a hinging head clamp for saddle installation and a tool-free quick-connect system at the base of the post. The Highline remote can be mounted on the top, bottom, left, or right, and features a unique ergonomic spherical adjustment with 360° of rotation and 22° of tilt. The post is backed by an industry leading three-year warranty.

Every company has released some crap products. Perhaps they've gotten right with this new post. Time will tell.

The cable/post attachment mechanism looks cool as well as the lever. I like my reverb, but I still don't care for the button it uses.

 The remote looks nice.

I refuse to buy anything from this company ever again. Every single Crank Brothers component I have owned has been junk; their pedals are literally disposable parts. I had a Joplin, it was total trash.

I bought from them hoping that their components will function as nicely as they look (they do have that down, their stuff looks tits) and have gotten burned every single time. Never again.

@greeek32 , Sorry to hear about your experiences with our product! Our focus with our new dropper post and pedals is to provide dependable, quality components. Check your PM's for a note from us.

Stop living in the past and try their pedals too. Awesome stuff.

Nah i used their Mallets and they did fine looking how much beating on rocks and roots it took.My friend have XC one (i think they were called Candy?) and she is happy about them. They died finally after one year (bent the axle) but only problem i had with them is how you clip out i felt quite uneasy when i was about to get in to slipery corner and i was about to unclip to stick out my leg and second thing is that those springs got hited few times but still holded.Woudl buy them again (wanted to get CB E) but i wanted to test HT T1 pedals so i can compare them to Shimano vs CB vs HT since my friend have CB E i can always borrow them.

@Calek @Orangesicle : a season is the most i ever got out of my candy 1,2, and 3's which is not what I consider a quality product for $140 (candy 3's). I have a pair of shimano XT trails that have had a way worse life than any of my crank brothers pedals ever did and I have had them for 3 seasons and they work as well as the day I bought them. They also cost $50.

I owned the original joplin dropper post - it was junk. I owned a joplin 4 dropper post - also junk. both dropper posts required constant service, did not function in sub freezing temperatures, and were expensive. Again, not what I call a quality product. My KS has never required service, works in all conditions, and was also relatively expensive.

I have given CB their fair shot - 5 products, all with terrible reliability. CB has made a name as a company which makes disposable products. It is going to take a lot for them to lose that stigma. Maybe that new dropper post and their new pedals are a better than their predecessors. Fact remains that I'm not about to drop that kind of money to find out I have another disposable piece of kit.

He should ride the Hightower then he'll be one step closer to having all his components with High in the name.

I dont understand all the hate for crankbrothers. I love my mallets more than any shimano pedals i have ever had. They are super reliable if you just service them every once and a while and are super easy to service. Keep on keepin on @crankbrothers.

How much are they paying him to use it ?

The apparent quote from him sounds like a script from the marketing department. Crank bros can only be staffed by marketing people as no proper engineer would make such terrible products like their previous disasters.

I cant see this changing their terrible reputation.

fyi, he drives a Ferrari .

I recently bought 5050 3 pedals and i like 'em... if i hadn't reverb i'd take this one in mind when buying a dropper post...

@felix337344: In a world containing 9point8, DOSS, Gravity Dropper and even TMARS considering a Crank Brothers dropper would make you a fool. Look at the picture of the mechanism, it's made of plastic. Even the $50 Ebay dropper on my beat up old hardtail is all metal, it's reliable too, so it's worth ten Crank Brothers anything.

@Fix-the-Spade: those guide brakes everyone is raving about are pretty much entirely plastic on the inside, they seem to work for now. Time will tell on the durability front.

Crankbrothers simply never made quality products compared to competition. Had the Joplin, thing broke down in less than 2 weeks of light riding. Pedals also aren't even comparable to competition out there. Idk how this dropper will work, hopefully they can redeem themselves.

@pigit77 - We hear you, but we're also confident that our newest line of product would sway your opinion.  @crankbrothers: I only was able to bend a handelbars in my life. The first crash with your handelbars it bend very badly and I was afraid to broke it going home...On the other side, I love your pedals I think they are the best (cleat ones).
  • 1 0
@homerjm: Wow, that's no easy feat! Contact our tech and warranty department and we'll get you sorted out if you still have the bars lying around. Happy to hear you are enjoying our pedals!

hhahhhahahhahahha Sunny southern California has a touch of rain from time to time! hahahhahah
  • 1 1
One concerned rider: "Hey look its raining outside! Doesn't that f**k up the trails in Laguna?"

CB Marketing Dept: "F**k it! We have a video to shoot!"

I do love my Mallets though. Even if they only last a year...

Had a few pairs of crank bros pedals and they've always been dependable, never had any issues.. Ride the mallet enduros now and they are the best pedal I ever had!
  • 2 1
Anyone know what model SC bike he's riding in the vid? Just curious, looks like maybe a 29er but I can't tell.
  • 3 3
I found it. It's a Hightower, and it looks like 29 wheels.

I doubt it's his personal bike, but it would be interesting to see why he wasn't running the 27.5+ wheels.
  • 3 0
@Endurahbrah: I had a chance to talk to CG once about it at an event, he simply said 29 was the faster choice in general. If conditions are really bad he'll switch to the plus wheels.
  • 4 0
@mellowxc: That must have been cool to talk to a pro about his bike setup. Thanks!

Given up on CB products love the feel of the mallets and look but bearings and axles are cheese been through 3 sets in as many years.
  • 1 0
@carter2772: We've updated our entire pedal lineup for 2016 with new internals from IGUS and Enduro Bearings - same great feel, but much more reliable! We'd love to rebuild your pedals with the new components if you still have them in your possession. Check out www.crankbrothers.com/create_ticket to get started.

I would like to say that CB has really stepped up their game. I had a very pleasurable experience with their customer service department which got me out a pair of replacement grips quickly and painlessly. Granted, these were only grips (a normal wear and tear item) and there was no catastrophic failure-but service and a company that stands behind their product means worlds to me. I have a reverb dropper which has had nothing but problems. I have several friends in the industry here in SoCal who are all attesting to recent changes at CB has made in product development and quality. I will be giving this product a go if I have another issue with the reverb. I currently have some Stan's Flow Ex wheels which I would love to swap out for some new CB wheels. I have always wanted a pair as they look sweet and I heard the quality and reliability is now up to suit as well. @crankbrothers
