Chicopee Bike Park 2009
Jun 19, 2009
Chicopee is back for the 2009 season with a brand new bike park, in a brand new location. And this time - we made it bigger and better!
We've moved the park to a location where it can stay and not have to be torn down every year before ski season. Because of this, we knew we had to make a park that everyone would love and most importantly, make a park for all abilities; early beginners to seasoned advanced.

We've moved the park to a location where it can stay and not have to be torn down every year before ski season. Because of this, we knew we had to make a park that everyone would love and most importantly, make a park for all abilities; early beginners to seasoned advanced.

We listened to the riders. You all asked for more jumps; we gave you more jumps. The advanced riders asked for bigger jumps, hips and a wallride; we gave you bigger jumps, hips and wallrides.
We've been open for almost a month already and the feedback has been incredible, everyone seems stoked of the new park. So let us give you a description of the new park:
We still have our constant supervision by first-aid certified staff who are there to not only help with injuries, but to maintain the park as well. We have the Bike Park Beast as well to provide water to keep the dust down.
To start off, we've brought back the pump tracks this year. Three of them actually, one is located outside of the park and is free for anyone who wants to stick their feet in the water before jumping in. The other two are located in the park. One beginner, one intermediate. The beginner one features larger, more spread out rollers in a simple oval configuration, and the intermediate one is L-shaped with various sized rollers and (thanks to Glen) vertical berms for maximum control at maximum speed - everyone can have fun in the pump tracks!
Then we have the dirt jumps, similar to last year with a few differences. We feature the same progression as last year with everything from one-foot-high rollers for the beginners to six-and-a-half-foot-high semi-gaps for the advanced riders. The differences being that this year we added one more set of jumps to the intermediate lines, so now there is four jumps in a line rather than three. We've added two more jumps to the advanced line with two options, one ends with a hip and the other is a straight line but they both end with a huge wallride.
What happened to our flow track? Well we decided to bring something completely new in instead...
A slopestyle course.
It has been a complete hit so far and the feedback has been amazing. Everyone is stoked.
Check out these videos that were made during opening week..
Brad Bonnel's Gas Rhonda Productions HD Edit:
We've been having way too much fun over here lately, a few weekends ago was our summer launch where we had a bunch of pro riders from team Haro/Adidas Eyewear (and I think a dobermann team rider, but I could be wrong) come and shred the park. They threw down some huge tricks and Scott Trepanier (our resident photographer) got some sick shots. Here are just a couple of them:
Cost to ride for the day is $12 or you can purchase a membership as well. Come out and support us so we can keep making the park bigger and better!
Lessons from qualified instructors are also available if you would like one.
We also have 7.5 Kilometers of cross-country trails and a "Pines Stunt Park" featuring some small ladder bridges, skinnies and other obstacles. And finally, don't miss our Bike Camps! Everything from Bike Park camp, to Video Bike camp, to Regular trails bike camp we have something for everyone!
And now, some shots of our frequent park riders:
Big thank you goes out to:
IMBA Canada's Mark Schmidt
Claude Larue From TDC Construction (this guy is amazing)
Scott Trepanier (From ST Photography) for his amazing photos
And of course to all of you riders who support us and make this such an awesome place to ride!
We are focused on family fun at Chicopee, so come on out bring your family. But most importantly, bring your bikes!
If you are looking to sponsor the Park please contact us ASAP, we would love to hear from you and are always looking for sponsors!

sick. We need something like that here
This place looks sweet, fun for anyone! We do here in NZ. Woodhill park in Auckland is a good spot for people to go out and jump/ learn to jump or go ride XC or freeride trails in the forest.
Also have you not seen the done up Gorge road jumps? one of the best public setups ever! small to large lines of perfect dirt jumps and a wallride and pump track to finish.
to people below, BMX doesnt need slopestyle! its pretty much the last big thing in freestyle riding we have over them. the abuse from many BMXers towards MTB is crazy. they claim we STOLE Park/ Dirt riding from them. Cant have them taking slopestyle from us!

this was a ski hill that had mountain bike trails existing.. they added the bike park under the terms of their insurance company and plan.. usually bike parks have problems regarding liability - Chicopee must have come to an agreement with the insurance..

To be honest, the park is mostly filled with MTBs on a daily basis.. The photos just happened to be of many of the Haro riders on BMX.
$12 for a bikepark day pass. i believe it says it up there.
and if you wanna do trails i think you have to buy another pass, but i could be wrong

theres another hill like 10 minutes from there called mount trash more, that i here is good too and i think its free
K-town sure has changed since I grew up there...props to the ski hill for stepping up for the mtn.biking folks....go grommets go!
that place is really fun no there is no rentals but its cheap you dont need to sign a waiver they have medical staff onsite and best of all the jumps are mint i loved that place especially the slopestyle course i did alot of filming there the one day till my buddy ripped a bunch of muscles in his foot
$12 pays for EVERYTHING bicycle realated at Chicopee.
$5 will only get you on the trails and our pines stunt area.
