Chicopee's Bike Park has come a long way already. The meeting was a success seeing many riders from various skill levels attending and putting in their input. It was after that meeting that everything took off. Within just over a week the final plans were put into place, the jumps, pump tracks and flow trail were all staked and ready for dirt.
Claude from TDC Construction brought some of his guys out to get started on building the park and build they did!

The transformation is intense!
All (or at least most) of the dirt hauling is complete, and packed. So where from here?
Chicopee has released a timeline for the bike park, and it appears as follows:
May 9th - Staking the jumps
May 10th - Soil Moved and park roughed in.
May 12-16th - Fencing and other safety work
May 13 - Final big machine work, could carry into May 14th.
May 19-22nd - Finishing grade work will take place
WEEKEND OF MAY 24/25 - CHICOPEE HOLDS VOLOUNTEER DAY - volunteers can come out and help shape the park, pack things in and prepare things for opening.
Although the features that are placed on the hill could be ridden on, Chicopee asks that you refrain from riding on (or modifying) the park until the park has been opened, for safety reasons. By all means though, go and look!
Please check out http://www.skichicopee.com for the latest updates and to stay posted on when the volunteer day is and mark opening day: June 7th, 2008 on your calendar.

wow they should get sumthing exactly like that in Invermere!! How lucky r u Kitchener bikers
not too lucky thats like the only good place to ride
the more bike parks the better!
Cant wait until it opens. Its not too far of a drive from where i live.
I thought it was going to be a indoor park?..
that looks so nice, cant wait to ride it!
wil there be lift access
no i dont think so there wasnt lastyear
IM PUMPED! im coming down just to ride this
there wont be lift access (there might be in future years depending on how good they do with this), but u only haven to walk for like 45 seconds to get to the top of the flow track
Hey Guys,
Yeah, things are looking prety sick.
The fencing is going up today; and the finish shaping will start up next week!
Unfortunatley there wont be lift access this summer. Not that we dont want to, but our lift would need a retrofit in order to do so... and that would end up making trail passes cost too much. Lifts are due to be replaced here in the next couple years, and a goal will be to offer summer access. The cost of our day passes and membership reflect the fact that there is no lift access though.
On a special note, we have decided to extend an early bird price for the park up until opening day. Park Passes (memberships) will be available at a rate of $139 until June 7th. They will then go up to $179.
Day passes will still be $10. Call (519) 894 5610 ext.2 to sign up.
Good to hear you guys are pumped!
Be sure to throw May 25th on your calendars. We are holding our Volunteer day that day. Come out to help finish the park off and give it a test ride. Lunch will be on the house!

has there been any progress on the freeride park at mt. trashmore?
an new berm like ladder was put up this year, not that extreme though
srry, i didnt read the whole sentence, i thought u were talkin about the ladders at chicopee (most freeride-ish thing there at the moment)
WE HAVE BEEN SCREWED BY THE CITY FOR MT. TRASHMORE, they've been putting it off for 2 years already, someone said that the contracting company the city hired pulled out and now the city hasn't decided to tell us anything new for about a year now, they just send u a 'copied & pasted' email if u try to contact them that way, many a people have tried this
so chicopee said "if they dont do it this year, we will", so here we are 22 days from the bikelaunch, its gonna be sikk
