Christmas Eve Ride - A Poem

It's been a ridiculus amount of time since I rode my bike, weeks. It's nuts how long it's been been but I had to go for a ride before I left for the States...
Christmas Eve Ride

It's been too long since my foot was on a pedal,
Time to go ride on a horse made of metal.
I decided to go on a wild expedition,
A little adventure of my own volition.
Big jacket, big gloves and helmet 'stead of a hat,
My head will get cold, but it sure won't be flat.
Minus 27, the worst temp in years,
And wind chill so cold, my eyes watered tears.
The snow was up to my eight inch Hayes,
Through the drifts of snow that had been building for days.
All my familiar trails were white, fresh and slick,
Studded tires were useless but 2.7's did the trick.
I hiked it all again up the hill so steep,
Carrying my bike through the snow so deep.
Not a soul I saw the entire frigid day,
Guess most people shy from weather that gray.
We've all had that ride in the twighlight zone,
When you feel so happy, free and alone.
This was mine on the eve of the 24th,
Just another day in the wind blown north.

id rip but im in component- painting mode
lol i hear you... winter is the only time where i can actualy have time to do a full on tune up and nice paint job on the frame. I also build on bike projects

ya no you dont its so boring and you cant ride cause the cars are honking at you when your on the street and you just spin when your in the snow on the sidewalk!!!

I remember doing that when i had my norco A-line 3 years back... I couldn't take it anymore, so I went riding on all my local streets...snow and ice and all... minus 20 something as well i think.

the twist is im always stoked for winter cuz of snowmobilin and snowboarding, but as usual, i get sick of the cold and shit after a month or so, and winters here in terrace last from about november to march/april, and im already missin the feelin of wheels under me. good job on poem man
haha i went riding when it was a bit less cold than that, it was brutal, i cant wait for the spring tho, new DH rig should be ready by then

Before riding downhill I didn't use to care a lot about how long it took to pass the winter, but now Ohhhhhhhh God, bring me the spriiiing.

ouch minus 20's...thats harsh. while your riding in that though, in austarlia we get days when we try to ride in temps of over 35 degrees (celsius). Admittadley that means we can still ride. But its a bitch... heat exaughstion is ever so fun.
