Chromag Bikes just uploaded this bad ass edit of their in house shredder Jin to their Facebook page. Rumor has it that only a small handful of riders have ever cleaned this trail top to bottom and here Jin is making some sections look easier than they really are.
yeah that trail is a lot worse than it looks in the vid.. had quite a few friends come back from trying it with injuries (broken hand, bla bla bla) and stuff and haven't yet come across anyone who finds it anything other than incredibly hard and scary!! props for doing it on an ht, certainly shows what's possible on those things!
When you say only a few have cleaned it do you mean with a brush? Crazy looking trail, too steep and gnar for me, riding stuff like that just scares me too much sometimes.
Walked up and down that trail, some fairly gnarly faces to say the least!! Did it in a bit of rain and let me tell you, without the bike it was techy, LOTS OF CROSSTHREADED ROOTS. It would definitely take it's toll on someone if you didn't have the skill level. Jin slays it on a hardtail, so sick! That whole region in Brio is ripe with MTB building for sure, just gotta go exploring near the park and you find lots of endless features scattered around.
mad props to this guy. One he's on a hard tail riding one of the hardest and most technical trails ive ever seen. Two i've ridden that trail and rode about three fourths of that trail, theres sections that literally look impossible to ride.
best day riding in whistler was on this track, actual loam, steep as duck and made even more of a challenge chainless..but on a hardtail?? thats pretty siiiick! that last section is the steepest part though with all the roots, i clipped a tree at the top of it and fell the whole length down it onto my back, lucky i wore a back plate that day!
thats the best track in the park by far in my opinion minus the stop start technique to it the bit where he goes a bit squirley i remeber being the best part of the track sam, a do or die moment for sure! i didnt even know what we were going to ride when we rode it, someone was told rough wherabouts and we found it, think thats what partly made that the best day riding in whistler but pat on back to the builders. wouldn't have liked to push up bits of that trail though..the fact that it looks steep on camera is testiment to how steep bits actually are!
Jin is modest as they come,he does not toot his horn.We all agree beginning section is a good way to guage the tempo of the ride. You don't want to hit that huge log.3:04 of vid is henious ,my buddy tagged that small tree to the right broke his lowers on his boxxers. I only got to ride it 4 times late in the season, gave me a renewed love for the park. Who got the boner log at bottom,to flat? I like the alternate line into the big rockface, reminds me of Deadfall. Have you rode ,Stop Drop, and Roll , UpperYo mamma in the wet is silly. Smokey is the man. Don't tell anyone about the were abouts of this trail,I had to wait 3 years to earn it. It is really for locals only.Same applys to SoH. too many new skid marks. Ya it aint my first time at the rodeo, i got 148 days in 2 seasons.
That is mountain biking. Hell yeah Jinya! This trail is INSANE, many DH racers walk parts of it so mad props to J for rocking it on a hardtail and cleaning it.
Too bad that this video isn't on pinkbike so that I can make it a favourite!
It looks like a killer trail and nice riding! I'm interested to know how that last part turned out...
thanks Thom! Awesome riding there Jin. Very impressive on a hardtail. This was my favorite trail for several years. It's hard to find people to ride it with and is a little too scary to ride solo since it's pretty far out there. However, my first time down it Smokey came through by himself and just shredded past us like we weren't even there. Trespasser has so many incredible lines, and several are straight deadly. Can't wait to ride it sometime this season!
I was thinking about that logride to hip drop field goal move and how Brad and Darnell both stomped the shit out of it......still haven't seen anyone else dare......good times!! Thom....I agree!!
on a hardtail without going off the trail or completely eating it? Doubt it. I do this trail once every summer and it's a huge reality check everytime. go do it in the dry one day and then check back in with me.
Coopers, it's all good man, Darryl was giving a little shit talk about shorts, we all know Jin is a bad ass rider. Darryl can hold his own too, just being a smart ass. No need to worry about either's abilities on two wheelers.
Well done if you have cleaned the trail? I only rode it once, blind and dabbed a few times on the sharp turns to ups nearer the top! The very start was a bit broken when we rode it, no way I would make the climb after the start on my Dh bike. We came out with one broken rider (hand) from right at the end of that video.
When they say cleaned it, I presume he meant just riding the down sections, as it's not really a trail! More like a random selection of features which are all over the place, linked together with no flow and a hike at the start....
Unfortunate about the blokes hand, would have been a mission to get out of there! I saw one bloke with a puncture about a third of the way down, felt for him big time!
Yeh, ride the whole trail, no dabs, no walking etc. etc. Apart from looking at that final chute as it was blind, I think I dabbed 3 times (from memory), I thought the trail flowed well as a trail, it is not a Dh track for sure. Was wicked fun, thought Crazy train was harder though.
crazy train is not harder
and some pretty famous people have come out of trespasser crying, straight up saying that shit was unrideable
its all rideable, wet or not
but not for bike park pussies
seriously
don't judge by video
and samboardman
when you coma to whistler
let me know i'll take you there
and you won't clean it
i'd rather it stayed secret, but nobody goes back there after their first time anyway. almost a promise. you won't like it. its not original sin
uploaded last night, opened my page on vimeo in the morning and... 3500 views! holy!
there isn't much flow on this trail compared the ones at the park. steep then flat, steep flat...like that. even if you have no problem with in-deep, goats gully and rds, you'd have some on this trail. some bits on moose knuckle is kinda close to it though. the first chute with tons of roots, its sorta intimidating and you have to make a hard left turn because of a big fallen tree. the big one in the middle of the vid, its really steep and winding, plus there is a steeper chute at the end. the one on an open cliff, kinda rocky chute with hard right turn and there isn't really a berm. if you missed it, you're done, rolling off the massive cliff. the last bit, it's the hardest i think. someone was kind enough to put a rope to go down and this is not all about the trail. another steep tight ST is there after the last chute.
believe it or not, it's been there for 10 years and people used to ride up and down on their xc bikes... gotta respect them!
haha bigtard you mug, I'm not some grom on pinkbike who comments on trails he's never ridden. I was in whistler for a month over the summer, I've ridden the track. You're making it out to be the most horrendous track in the world, it really isn't. It's just steep features all linked together. Yeah you're right its not like original sin, it's a lot harder, thats a good thing!
Iamamodel, I'd say this was probably most similar to goats gully, with some renegade mixed in for the roots.
lol.. from what i heard samboardman has cleaned it (was in the other t2r lodge riding the 3rd astrix lol), and betsie, was that bloke who broke his hand working for T2R on an orange commie.. he broke his hand there with a bunch of mates too if not :S
cleaning it section by section is one thing. cleaning it as in not putting a foot down is another thing entirely but good job however you get down and don't hate it most people don't ever go back what about the extra lines? log drop onto rock face? theres also a line there only one person has ever ridden guaranteed, cuz it was stupid
Ah i cleaned section by section, no way did i clean the WHOLE run. Am running a 38t -> 25-12 cassete on the back.... Can't really pedal up! Cheers mate, was a fun challenging track! It's all about riding out of your comfort zone if you want to improve. Got a bit wild in one or two places after carrying speed into steep bit! haha No I didn't see any of those lines, didn't really look for alternative lines tbh! I'm more into riding a track like its a race track as it's good practice, so I just look for the shortest fastest option.

raw with red accents...sounds familiar
That is such bollocks! It really isn't that hard if you can ride DH to race level
I only rode it once, blind and dabbed a few times on the sharp turns to ups nearer the top!

I ask for those of us whose Canadian experience is mostly Whistler Bike Park oriented.
