Cold Creek is Open Again

Nov 20, 2016

On September 3, 2011, Cascadians in Sw Washington and NW Oregon got some devastating news. One of the most fun sections of trails in SW Washington was closed to the public, due to an aging bridge.

Cold Creek

CCMTB, Cold Creek Mountain Bikers, immediately started conversations with the land Managers DNR, Department of Natural Resources. Working with the DNR and a generous volunteer engineer, CCMTB helped the DNR with some of the engineering needs of the replacement bridge.

Five years later, many things have changed. Thrillium was completed and became the first one-way trial on DNR-managed land in the state of Washington. CCMTB has joined forces with Evergreen Mountain Bike Alliance and has become their Cold Creek Chapter. CCMTB is actively working with the DNR and other non-motorized user groups, to provide 17 miles of new trails in the Yacolt Burn State Forest. On November 19, 2016, they held a work party with volunteers and the DNR to complete the replacement bridge. This work party was the last step in the process to reopen one of our favorite trails.

Cold Creek
A big thank you, goes out to everyone who came out and helped finish up the bridge.

You never know what five years of waiting can do to a rider.

CCMTB's JR Rager got the honors of cutting the ribbon, in a backwoods ribbon cutting kind of way.
