Thank you Pinkbike for giving us a legitimate reason to stay up all hours and be late for work.
Having these events covered has been seriously awesome, thanks to everyone who has helped make this possible for all of us not fortunate enough to be in Rotorua.
I would provide construvtive criticism I was gonna watch it again to see what they could do betterfast forward it at random and first thing I see is he called ropelato rope de dope. This is an unfixable problem, firing him is not enough Castration or a firing squad seem like a better solution.
I don't understand why they capture it like a downhill race. I get the synergy leverage same crew/cameras. Don't get me wrong I'm grateful we have some coverage as opposed to none. But why not take more of the pro golf model with cameras all over at key areas of the track and switching back and forth rider to rider. You have a 35 min leg and we are just catching the last 60 seconds of each rider.
Umm... Have you ever been to a race like this? You've got riders leaving the gate every 30 seconds or so. Some guys crashing, some guys passing other guys & trees in the way of cameras so they can only cover very small areas.
They could put a camera in a key location & switch back to it to feature a rider... and by the time they figure out which rider it actually is (because they don't always stay in the order that they started in) they would have missed the other 2 riders that just blew through the other key locations they had setup.
What you propose is madness, absolute madness. If you don't like watching what they give you, go ride your bike.
It's clear they only have maybe 5-6 camera for entire course which is quite manageable. I'm not saying cover the entire course that's impossible. But showing different sections instead of just the end would be nice. The way it is its a watered down version of DH coverage except it's the part that doesn't matter. I'd like to see the guys starting at the gate and just a few cameras spread out with a spotter telling the booth who is coming up. And then 1 or 2 at the end to capture the finish. Just saying there are other events that cover large areas of ground and there might be a better way to capture the feel of the event. The way it is now, I'd just rather watch the dh and yes like you said go ride my bike. I'd love to see enduro get more mainstream so there is really something in it for these pros. Maybe drones will be the answer one day..
bit disapointing the organisers shortened stage3 , Curtis Keene says he dosent undertsand why its called Rocky Horror, its because they pulled out the lower section of this trail so half of it is exited, half way down, the Rocky Horror section, which u snake between rock cliffs with rock gardens on the single track, while still super steep and switched back, then ends on the steelest sections into a rock bed creek trench very technical 300m ateast imo the best section in the hole of Vegas because it is unique with rock and slippery even in dry weather pretty dark zone, this is what EWS is about, so gutted they abanded this, rocks are rare in Whaka and this section has it in spades. Hence why its called Rocky Horror, again if the comenators could ride and had ridden the trails they also would know theyre is rock out they're, though rare! Still personally Im a fan of Brad J etc no Tippie, but hes still good value for Crankworx so don't be hard on the guy, he's a 10year CW vet, they just need to be given the right info, awesome conditions and day. Great results too! Congrats to them all.
it got cancelled as it turned into a swamp, i was looking forward to that section as well, it would have made the next transition nearly impossible as the ride up would have been too slippery to get up, same with dammit janet trail, but on the day the trails were perfect even though they predicted 80% chance of big rain
And it begins.... "So is he going to be wearing regular clothes, right".....*buuuuurrrrrrrrrrrp*...... "one, one, one. Two, two, two." Hilarious that the guys running the feed & the commentators don't realise all the audio & cameras have already gone live & are being watched by everyone!
Where is SAM HILL??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? He is the only rider im interested in watching and you guys didn't even show him
Wow, wow, wow. The top women are better than the vast majority of amateurs. I was so proud when I was on par w/ ACC and Anneke and they were absolutely floundering here! The top men are just so incredibly good.
I don't care that the commentators were typical X-Games "duuuudes" and we only saw about 7% of the riding. It was still awesome to see this, especially as they will only get better production-wise (I hope!). Thanks Pinkbike!
"Let's go down to Hannah in the finishing area for some pointless questions".
Or how about "and here is Emily... I can't pronounce her last name"? If you can't pronounce a few European names then you shouldn't be commentating.
They could put a camera in a key location & switch back to it to feature a rider... and by the time they figure out which rider it actually is (because they don't always stay in the order that they started in) they would have missed the other 2 riders that just blew through the other key locations they had setup.
