I'm in the US and will still not enter to win the bike, because no thanks on that bike.
  • 10 3
I'd enter and hope to win and sell the frame and keep the rest for another frame Smile
  • 3 4
Giveup scandal667 no one likes your sarcastic comment

 you're +8 and I'm -8. together we make a zero

Just enter, if you win, you can have them send it to me. I'll ship it right over, promise...
  • 1 0

 Opposites attract.....

stop being jerk offs, an amazing rider and a great company that's been around basically forever is, GIVING AWAY A FREE BIKE WORTH A TON OF MONEY, and all you guys do is bitch about details...shut up already!!!!!
  • 11 2
Details like being able to enter the contest?
  • 11 6
actually 1 million dollars weight is 10kilograms, so a TON of money would be 100 million dollars. That's an expensive bike. I prefer the 2012 "carbon" demo worth 21k
  • 18 4
facebook sucks and i refuse to have one. wish there was another way to enter.
  • 10 2
Facebook does suck and there was no need to enter Facebook, for me to enter the contest, just first and last name with email. Good luck.
  • 7 3
Agreed. Bikes are nice but I'm not joining Facebook to join. I'd rather sell my soul which is basically the same thing except in hell there are semi intelligent beings, in Facebook there are NONE.
  • 4 1
I just entered and did not have to join Facebook, nor did I have to get on the mailing list.
  • 5 3
Sucks you fellas live in countries with terrible regulations and rules regarding free give-a-ways. Isn't every contest that gives away free product not open to Canada? I figure you guys would be used to it by now... Look at the bright side, at least you don't have privatized healthcare.
  • 1 2
If I win the bike, as I cannot bring to my country, I would kill it with fire. Need place though.
  • 1 0
wow, i did not know that. thanks for the heads up

Honestly, I find people that don’t have Facebook a burden.
For work, we use it to communicate and update employees.
For university we share group projects and generate ideas.
For family events we coordinate a date that works for everyone.
For biking I use it to organize group rides.
…and pinkbike uses it to giveaway free bikes.
Welcome to 2015.
Get over yourself, and get a Facebook.
  • 3 1
I can understand the ease of events and meetings. When I had Facebook I used it mostly for just that. However as time passed I grew tired of all the crap I got for merely expressing myself. I never thought I'd be criticized so much for stating my beliefs. So I cleared my account and upgraded my life to people who could respect me even if we have different opinions.
  • 3 0
Remember no Facebook or cell phones or computers in every home or strava? Just get out and ride!
  • 1 0
I think he meant all the people dissing the bike, who probably couldn't get half the potential out of the bike. But those hating on facebook are probably nuts as well (I'm not a big user, but it's never done anything bad to me). For the international crowd, that sucks, you guys are cleared to keep crying.
  • 1 0
@eastcoastdher: pinkbike boards are an improvement?
  • 31 2
I live in Europe but I entered... livin the thug life
  • 32 6
I'd strip that bike down, sell everything and take a trip to Whistler, rent a real bike and party like a porn star. Yes, a porn star.
  • 21 3
I wish mongoose would make like fiat and call their high end brand something different. They would sell a lot more high end bikes if they didn't have a reputation for wally world
  • 12 2
 You mean like GT?
  • 11 6
 or Cannondale
  • 6 2
 Or Iron Horse?
  • 1 5
flag Endurahbrah (Apr 22, 2015 at 9:52) (Below Threshold)
 Or Diamondback?
  • 1 4
Diamondback has bikes that run the gamut from Walmart specials to free ride bikes with odd geometries. I don't think they have a line with a better name.
  • 3 1
Raleigh own diamondback, but both companies have their own highend lines. Pretty silly really. Raleigh should just ask DB to handle the high end and have Raleigh make the crap.
Last I heard IH was just dead, and they were selling patents to other companies like airborne.
Pretty surprising a single Canadian company owns c-dale, gt, and mongoose. Why bother and do it that way? Why not just have each company focus on one thing and do it the best? Mongoose could get the Walmart spec I guess, c-dale the xc-am bikes and gt the dh. C-dale could handle road development too I guess. Instead they have each company make a while range. Seems wasteful.
  • 4 1
I can't believe you think IH is dead. Dave Weagle and others are just selling their patents to gain extra money for research to perfect their next mind-blowing invention. They have no need for any patents or old technology right now cuz they know it will all be obsolete once their new lineup is annouced. This was all part of their master plan starting around 2007. All the stories about embezzlement and bankuptcy were just a facade to take everyone's attention off of the company for a decade or so while they quietly revolutionized the industry...again...without interruption. Even the sale of their company name was just fabricated to benefit both parties. I hope Dave reads this and lets me in on his secret developments for my loyalty. Maybe I'll even get a demo bike. I can't wait!
  • 2 0
Raleigh is owned by a corporation who also owns Diamondback, Redline, Torker, and Lapierre. Just sayin'
  • 1 0
@Warburrito DW does NOT work for Iron Horse. In fact, they had a very public falling out before IH went under. The selling of IH to Randall Scott pretty much killed the brand. DW is happily creating new suspension designs and selling them to lots of other companies like Pivot, Ibis, Devinci, Evil, etc.
  • 3 0
It seems you didn't read the rest of my post Baecker. The sale, embezzlement, and bankruptcy are all a façade. I'll elaborate further for you...DW never worked for Iron Horse...He owns it and always did. He knew he would be in the public eye and preferred not to be recognized as the owner to make any public appearances less stressful. Dorel and IH have a top secret agreement to make junk bicycles (thus keeping IH off any real bicycling radar) until IH is ready to unveil their REAL lineup. Dave Weagle has been licensing his suspension designs to other companies in order to pay for his research on an Atoll off the coast of (secret). He knows the technology is inferior to what is coming in the near future and is actually setting all of THOSE companies up for sure failure. He regularly harvests guano on the island to sell to fertilizer companies for increased research monies. The top of his personal circular volcano island (atoll) provides rare earth materials to produce the bicycles and a perfect circular course with unbelievable terrain for testing the bicycles. The bunkers left over from WW2 are heavy enough to prevent any satellite imaging from penetrating since the Russian government is watching his every move. I'm afraid I may have already shared too much!!!
  • 1 0
Just talked about atolls with someone today. Life is randomly so unrandom and vice versa

If I win can I pick it up at my local Walmart?
  • 4 1
Would I have to take it to Walmart for service?
  • 2 0
Mongoose has been around for decades. It is one of the OGs of the BMX racing scene and one of the innovators of racing in those early days. People were tripping over themselves to be on a Mongoose as they developed the "modern" BMX bikes in the mid-1970s. The company's business model has changed but now it makes bikes that allow people an entry point into riding. Most people seem to have a problem with Walmart and all product they sell. The problem isn't with Mongoose. If those entry level bikes were sold by a retailer that people had more respect for, the hate would be way less. Guaranteed. Most of you who are complaining, are complaining about nothing more than the fact that Mongoose is carried by Walmart and markets budget bikes so people can get on two wheels. Do you haters really think that Watts, Montgomery, and Akrigg ride Walmart bikes?

The Teocali shares design and engineering with lots of other 4 bar frames that people drool over because of the company name. If a person can't get past the label on the frame to actually look at the quality of this bike that is being given away, then
that is a personal issue. If this same exact bike had a boutique brand name on it, the responses here would be completely different. This bike is legit, and I would happily ride it. Winning a bike speced the same as one ridden by one of the most creative riders on the planet would definitely make for a cool story to share. All bikes are awesome for someone.

On second thought, you are right. This bike is terrible. You probably shouldn't enter to win it.
  • 4 1
Yes, it is a terrible Walmart bike and only for the US, so no one else should enter. I will enter just to save every one else from having to win such a bad bike Smile
  • 4 2
Chris' riding is so amazing and creative, that I believe he is one of the reasons for people considering buying a Mongoose :-D. I will probably never forget the video of him riding Mongoose Nugget in Spain...
  • 2 0
Is this give-away for a new replica of Chris's bike, or is for the one Chris already thrashed for making the video? If the later, should that make me want it more or less? Medium-sized riders only, please.
  • 1 0
I won the CA Teocali and picking it up at UPS tomorrow afternoon. I'll post pics here over the weekend :-)

Honestly I felt the same way as many of the posters on here in concern to Mongoose as my last Mongoose was a loop tail BMX in like 1987. The contest appeared on FB and the Teocali frame instantly reminded me of a Giant Trance. Of course I entered the contest and did a little research on Mongoose in 2015. The trance is FAR out of my budget and I give Mongoose a lot of credit for putting out the Teocali and Bootr for those of us who work blue color jobs.
  • 2 0
Congratulations. It really is a top end bike. Enjoy it.
  • 6 2
walmart seems to have stepped up their game.
  • 1 0
Well they did just fire 2,200 workers due to "plumbing issues" and closed 5 US stores for "extended repairs". So it looks like they have freed up a little capital to jump into the high end bike market. It's probably just a coincidence that at least one of these stores had an employee group organizing and protesting for higher livable wages.
  • 5 2
Darn US only - would really have liked to part this out so I could get a new bike...
  • 7 4
The continental US eh? Screw you too mongoose.
  • 2 1
I'm thinking contest/giveaway tax law, gets really convoluted between numerous countries.
  • 1 0
 Could be, still annoying tho.
  • 2 0
Do we get to meet Chris if we win? Dude is a badass and one of the real good guys in the mountain bike world.
  • 3 0
How cool would it be if Chris delivered the bike to the winner and then went out for a ride with him/her on a local trail?
  • 3 2
 Nooooooooooo :'(
Bring this to Europe, i would be ready to pay for the delivery if you cannot Big Grin
  • 4 2
Doesn't list zip ties on those specs.
  • 2 4
WTF? This site, AFAIK, is Canadian based, but has daily visitors from ALL OVER THE WORLD......but somehow, this contest is only open to Americans??

....and to add to the irony, Chris is a BRIT, no?

.....and I guess even if I was American, I still couldn't enter, because I have not sipped the Facebook Koolaid
  • 6 5
Its still a mongoose.... a bunch of good parts can't make a shit bike ride better
  • 1 1
Um pretty sure that couldn't be farther from accurate. A shitty full suspension wallmart bike will ride better with fox suspension verses some crappy spring suspension.
  • 3 2
It's cool if you can just get past the embarrassment of riding around a Mongoose...
  • 3 2
I'd love to enter but you have to be on Facebook.....which i aint!
  • 13 14
Why is the dropper post cable just zip-tied to the frame? Nice one. Must have been assembled at Wal-Mart. Oh, wait... The fork is the right direction. My bad. Carry on.
  • 26 2
Cable ties work great for securing cables...
  • 6 8
You're pretty quick. They also work better when the company has the foresight to braze on some cable guides..
  • 2 3
Cannot argue there. Something's just get overlooked by engineers.
  • 9 2
 "...overlooked by engineers."
Eh...it's most likely just a re-badged, off-the-shelf frame from the Taiwan bicycle source catalog. I highly doubt anyone at Mongoose (aka Dorel) is sitting around making manufacturing/engineering decisions.
  • 8 2
C'mon we all know it's PRE PRODUCTION so it's entitled to miss vital features and implode as soon as you throw a leg over it
  • 1 0
 Well that's kinda unfair....
  • 3 3
Chris's vid sure makes the bike look good. Just can't seen to get em up here at Wall mart.
  • 1 0
You know what? I'm going to win this bike straight from Europe!
  • 4 4
Where's the giveaway? Couldn't find it on the Mongoose fb page...
  • 4 0
Just click the 'Enter Contest Here' link at the top of the page. Takes you to FB and the entry page.
  • 2 0
Must've gotten too excited and overlooked it, thanks.
  • 3 3
ya what happen to that contest with that Trek? ya no thinks
  • 1 1
But shame on the giveaway, it should definitely be worldwide...
  • 1 1
yes! it said "Good luck"!... oh, u all got the same message =\ bummer
  • 2 5
US only, would rather ride my bike anyway.
  • 2 5
It's scandalous that only us rider are eligible !!!
