Corsair Imperium DH 2014

Imperium frames can accept shocks with either a 9.5 or 8.5 eye-to-eye lengths, and can be set up with either 212 or 178-millimeters of rear-wheel travel.

The Sea Otter Classic has become one of the most important venues that smaller brands use to launch innovative or new products. Corsair brought its proto Imperium DH bike for display - unpainted and adorned with black "Prototype" decals. Reportedly, an earlier version of the Imperium was ridden at the Red Bull Rampage by Cam Zink, who had good things to say about its handling and performance. The latest iteration of the aluminum-framed racing chassis is only waiting for finalized paint and graphics before it will begin to ship.

Corsair Imperium DH 2014

The Imperium's aluminum rocker axles are machined with large, drilled heads that are threaded into place using an Allen hex wrench and then fixed with a small Allen screw that indexes into the head's circumference.

Corsair refined the compact, dual-link suspension from its six-inch-travel Konig to extend the travel to 212 millimeters (8.25 inches) and adjust the suspension curves for 27.5-inch wheels. Armed with a Cane Creek Double Barrel shock, the Imperium can be configured with either 212 or 178 millimeters of rear-wheel travel, and is designed for 200-millimeter-stroke forks. With a 63-degree head angle and a 325-millimeter bottom bracket height (12.875-inches), the Imperium should hug the ground at speed. Reportedly, the suspension leverage rates and shock damping remain consistent between the short and long-travel settings. Corsair pegs the MSRP of the Imperium at $2800 USD including the Cane Creek DB Air shock. Frame sizes and actual weight TBD.

The six-inch-travel, aluminum-framed Konig was one of the few 26-inch-wheel AM/trailbikes we could find on display at the Sea Otter classic. Corsair was making friends with it.

We'll try bigger stickers next time.

Though i still can't see what they have changed from the Corsair Dominion that Zink already had pretty dialed?
  • 5 1
They look like an old norco shore, kinda off balance. It would be interesting to watch the linkage progress through its travel.

 12.875" BB!!

Dayum son, that's more slammed than a wrestling match for the soap in jail.

(Getting slammed to get slammed in the slammer)

On almost every bike you see the brake hoses come out of the calliper and need to do a funky turn to fit with the frame routing.
It looks so much better having it come out at the right angle (about 45 degrees anti-clock wise in this example), all that's needed is to undo the banjo by a quater turn.

The impurium looks so nice in chrome bike companies should do so many more frames in chrome!

Raw even? Pretty sure it's not chrome dipped.

Same difference, my phone screens pretty shit tbh, either way it looks sick

 Chrome is a mirror finish

The Imperium looks like an interesting mix of a Demo 8 and a GT Fury. I'm looking forward to the final version cause I wouldn't mind owning one of these

I'd say it looks more like the 07/08 SX Trail, slightly old fashion geometry

Yeah that 63 degree head angle and 12.875 inch bb. Totally old fashioned.....

Reminds me of the '09-10 area Norco A-Lines.

Edit: Oops. Badbike beat me to it a few comments down.

"an earlier version of the Imperium was ridden at Rampage by Zink"... well, yes, since essentially, that Imperium looks like it is a Konig that has been scaled up....

The Imperium is basically a built up Konig with the original 4 bolt style link pattern. The original konig is an amazing bike, and feels so nice under the rider. It's somewhat nimble, responsive, stiff, and looks great.

This Konig really reminds me old sx trail

they look like a copy of GTs bikes, but the curve in the top tube makes it look like a cheap females bike

I seriously with they'd stop saying 27.5....its 650B people... with tires that range from 27.2" diameter to over 28" diameter, labeling it as an exact 27.5 is just plain moronic now. Rocky Mountain has a full suspension prototype at Sea Otter with 650B x 2.8 tires that some are calling a full suspension fat bike... but at that width of tire... the diameter is going to be pushing towards 29".

Do you work for Rocky Mountain because thats all you ever talk about

I do not and no it isn't, but thank you for being the moron of the day.
  • 2 1
 I seriously with ??
What does that mean ?
Who's the moron deeight ?
Don't be a grammar nazi if you can't write a proper sentence yourself.

Moron ! Nobody cares to read your whining you bitch.

You have a love affair with the enter key apparently, or is a paragraph beyond your skill level? Morons often have that issue and you clearly are a complete moron.

No one like a shill Deeight

Good comeback Gandolf the grey. Your still a bitch.
Why would a paragraph be "required" in a comment section ?
Get a life and please take Waki's advice and just end your constant bitching and pointless long winded comments about back in the day. You didn't invent bikes or mtb 'ing.
All of Pinkbike would be a better place without you.
  • 2 2
Comparing me to one of the most respected characters from Tolkein fiction... isn't in any way, an insult. Back to the drawing board there Mr Moron. The only constant bitching person here is yourself. I've been on pinkbike a LOT longer than you have, and I'm sure nobody would notice your absence if they removed you from it.
  • 2 0
Lol. Take it as a compliment if you like. Like I've said before your the biggest nerd on the site guaranteed.
And the "I've been here longer than you" ........so what. Do you now have some sort of superior rank ?
You would cry if you got removed (because Pinkbike is your life) while everyone else would rejoice - I'd probably be ok. Probably.
Maybe you can ask some of your mod buddies to ban me . You seem to have lots of fans.
  • 1 2
Gotta always get the last rambling whinefest in don't you moron? As to the mods, here's a hint... people who support the site get more respect among the staffers than those who don't. So perhaps you should be more worried about your own removal than someone elses, especially since you clearly can't detach yourself from the site.
  • 1 1
Lol. I should be more worried because your a "plus" member - too funny.
You really think people on this site respect you ? And more so because your a "plus" subscriber ?
Wow , Pinkbike has respect for sale for the low price of $30.
Again , your sad ..... so sad. Now go ahead and have the last word Gandolf.
