Welcome to the inaugural Crankworx Les Gets. Mud is hitting the rubber, Woodstock-style, in the French Alps where athletes competing in the downhill got their first look at the course today.
Hiking the hill with Forrest Reisco, Henry Fitzgerald, and Remi Gauvin, Miranda Miller, of Squamish, B.C., was getting ready to try and best her impressive comeback at the Leogang World Cup - third place, after breaking her arm earlier in the year.
First impression of Les Gets, included a little shock and awe over the opportunity to ride off-camber turf.
"Never ridden a course like it. There’s so many grass corners. I’ve ridden a few tracks where there was like one or two at the end, but never the whole thing," said Miller, who was pretty keen to have other riders guinea pigging before her runs Sunday.
All afternoon athletes could be seen climbing around on the hill as practices waged on the courses across town. Crankworx was on a rain delay Thursday.
