Waylon Smith and Jill Kintner won the Crankworx Colorado Downhill today in Winter Park Colorado. Jason Memmelaar took 2nd followed by Logan Binggeli, Melissa Buhl and Jackie Harmony 2nd and 3rd in the womens.

Photos and results inside

After getting a flat and qualifying last Waylon Smith came back to win the Downhill today at Winter Park. The day started off nice with cool cloudy conditions, but then turned to heavy rain for the afternoon final. With 2 hours before the final the lift was still closed due to lightning and there was some concern about getting riders to the top of the course. It's a 7 minute DH run, and a long drive or hike to the top.

Waylon suffered a flat tire near the top of the course in qualifying and ended up in last place, giving him the first run in the mens final. He put in the fastest time of the day and spent the entire race in the hot seat.

Jason Memmelaar had a great event taking home the win in dual slalom on thursday, and then placing second today. Unfortunately my camera didn't like the rain and decided to focus on the tape, I'll pretend it was deliberate and call it an art photo.

Logan Binggeli qualified first this morning, but couldn't keep it and ended up 3rd.

Jill Kintner qualified second this morning but managed to take home the gold. That's impressive for a girl that's used to short sprint BMX races...

I bet you said that to get the 2nd. At least post something worth while.

Man, you should send that off focus pic to shimano since the rider is blurred, I'm sure they'd pick it up off ya for a good price (and you'd be able to sell it and they could use it without the riders consent being well, you can't tell who it is. Smile

Waylon is as tough as they come and under appreciated. I don't know too many riders more well rounded that can throw down in DH, AM, Super D, XC and even road at a top level. Nice work staying in the hot seat so long.
