I have a Suntour on my commencal absolut. It's okay - I prefer it to the headshok on my cannondale.

Here we go again with the Anti-Suntour guys... Suntours are okay.. And besides, it's the rider's decision if he will like it or not.. Stop influencing them that Suntours are crappy.. Please.

I had a suntour RUX on my last dj bike, 2006, and they are still not cracked or something, they work extraordinary good!

sutour is stepping up their game, people give them a break they are great for their price and they arnt bad forks either. personly they are better then marzocchi. they way a hell of a lot less but they dont perform as nice, so its a trade off. but of corse they dont compare to rock shox and fox

Are any of you judging these RST and Suntour forks from riding them, or purely because they're renowned for being low end forks? I was under the impression that both companies had upped their games; but I could be mistaken on that one? Regardless, these frames are lovely!

Maybe it depends on if it's the higher end forks.. I've never ridden one but I ride SR's. when I compared the weight of the SR's to RST's, the SR's (suntours) are lighter.. Lower end RST's tend to be heavy, very heavy..

My first mountain bike (Muddyfox Crest, mine for £250) from 5 years or so ago had RSTs on it. First set froze up so I got different ones, they did the job! Horrible top-out clunk, no where near full travel, and no adjustments. Didn't matter though, because I was having fun!

flag crunchss (Mar 15, 2011 at 12:43)
 Fun outweighs everything yeah.

These are 2011 models though, not 2005/2006 models. Both companies seem to have reinvented themselves and are trying to make a decent name for themselves in mountain biking.

I test rode a bike w/ high end suntours, and they seemed to be okay, but I owned a bike w/ rsts and rode them for 3 years. they are horrible. to get them to move, you have to drip lube oil on the outside of the stantions. its outrageous. I traded them for a Rockshox tora and it was bliss

These do not look like garbage at all. Also, SR's Pop-loc system looks really convenient. No reviews anywhere though

I have a suntour fork (Durolux) and its not alright. for the price its good, but only because you cant get many 180mm travel forks for $400. it doesnt feel that good, and it leaked a ton of oil when i first got it. if you have the money, definitly go for something nicer.

well some suntours are good and some are bad but nobody can actually say rst's are bad because they make society forks and they come on identitys so are obviously worthy.

the new 2011 rigs any stronger than the 2010 frames? enough of my mates dented the 2010 ones and im really hoping dartmoor have upped their game and made things a bit stronger!!

flag evomtb (Mar 15, 2011 at 14:27)
its cracks that show its a weak frame, any frame would dent if a lot of pressure is applied on a small area, dartmoor are a solid company

So would a 24" and 26" use the same fork ?

Only asking as I've got a DJ frame I'm building up. I was going to build it up with 24" wheels as I already have 2 x 26" wheeled bikes.

Suntour & marz came from thesame factory. Internals of marz are made by suntour. Though I'm a fun of RS.
