“Squamish is home to a diverse and constantly growing trail network. So much so that it becomes common to discover a new trail every week. I was pointed in the direction of this trail quite early into its life and immediately knew it was going to be something special. Gary McFarlane, the local trail builder responsible for this masterpiece named it “Rupert” after his late dog. This trail alone is about as much fun as you can have on a sunny Sunday afternoon, but couple that with a mad dash of a hill climb and you've got a great training ride." - Dexter Robson
I want the old rupert back that's in this video. Nowadays it's completley buffed out, some of the rock rolls are shorter and it is the complete opposite of loam. Still an awesome trail tho
Head to Tantalus Bike shop with a map. A friend and I did a trip to the area last year and that's how we found the best trails to ride, for us. The guys there will show you the way, they were awesome!
The trail app has 80% of them and is pretty sweet. The newest ones like Rupert aren't there yet, and there's always hidden jems, but the app's the best way to start.
apparently you don't read maps well... firstly our trails are well marked. very well in fact. secondly it is on both the trail map app that has a gps and its on the paper map sold at all the bike shops in SQUAMISH. fail on both your parts. also very few hidden gems.
I'm just not used to BC style trails where there are a ton of short trails criss-crossing in the same area and you only ride 1/2 a mile (or less) before you hit an intersection. Yeah, I can find my way around fine if I stop to check the map every 10 minutes, but the map doesn't really say which trails are cool and which aren't, and it sucks having to stop so often to check the map. Anyway the trails were awesome, but I would have rather followed a local around without stopping than what I did, which was going by myself and constantly checking my map every time I hit an intersection.
Unfortunately, it was hot as balls there when I rode, so I was hitting the trails early before any of the shops were open.
