The lines are forming, race weekend ending crashes have gone down and everyone is just trying to hang on. This is Lenzerheide timed training and practice!
Before we begin this brutal broadcast, we give you cute, fluffy ducks. Now, sit back and enjoy the carnage.
This was the story of the day for many as they did their best to tackle the huge features and weigh up their 'outside' versus 'inside' options on an incredibly fast and loose track.
Rat Roost. Ratboy attacked the first corner and tore it a new one this morning. I'll be mining dirt out of my ears for a month.
Laurie Greenland does a good job of showing you how loose and off camber it gets right out of the start
Outside foot still unclipped and drifting, Marcelo Gutierrez was aggressive right from the start today.
Jana Bartova might have taken the crown for biggest fall in the top rocks today, amongst some stiff competition. Thankfully she walked away from this one, but there's no doubting just how savage this Swiss track is.
Troy Brosnan was hammering out runs today and looked comfortable on the slick surface right away. I guess living in Whistler does help...
Rachel Atherton is on a roll once again. She wasn't showing signs of letting up today, either, hitting all the big stuff without hesitation.
Rachel moves a freshly arrived rock as big as her head out of her line. Spectators and media needed their wits about them all day with huge stones being set loose continously down the super-steep hillside.
Commencal Riding Addiction's, Myriam Nicole, was stoked to back on track this morning, testing her shoulder's recovery. Lenzerheide proved a bit too brutal for her at the moment so unfortunately she'll be sitting this one out.
One word: savage. Remi was looking like a bull in a china shop out there today.
Joe Smith threads it through the first dark and loamy stretch of woods.
Andrew Crimmins cuts through the dust to set the fastest time for the Junior Men.
Loic Bruni is still hunting for that first win, but this race is going to be tight and the competition fierce.
Mike Jones waits for the dust to settle so he can find out where his bike landed on the first run through with Sam Hill in tow.
More than a few people said this track had Sam Hill written all over it yesterday. He's cutting inside like the Sam we know and love.
Hill, foot out and a meter inside everyone else's line. Classic stuff.
Luca Shaw was looking very comfortable on his first day of practice here in Switzerland.
Aaron Gwin took plenty of runs today to get acquainted with the track. This track is fast and rough, but can the mighty Gwin steal another win here for the U.S.A. on July 4th? 'MURICA!
Sam Dale blitzing the high-risk outside line through the rocks, first run.
Neko Mulally emerges from the dust cloud up top.
Racer, team manager, dreamweaver, and even mechanic, Eddie Masters knows how to keep the show on the road.
Second in Leogang, Connor Fearon now sits 9th in the overall.
The gloves are off and Sam Blenkinsop means business this weekend.
Justin Leov was more than happy to have nice weather here in Lenzerheide today.
French shredder Amaury Pierron, from last year's batch of juniors, goes on the hunt in the upper loam zone.
Markus Pekoll full gas through the quickest section of track before the first woods.
Tracey Hannah is hungry for a win. The Aussie was looking mighty comfortable out in practice today.
While a mechanic is good for just about everything, there are still fine details that the riders prefer to adjust themselves. Tracey Hannah installs some cleats on her brand new pink 5.10's that we previewed in Fort William.
Tahnee Seagrave ripping up the loam to lay down the 3rd fastest TT in the womens.
Emmeline Ragot, hanging on to it after getting kicked out of a root filled rut.
Emmeline always does well on the fast and technical tracks and her top spot in timed training shows she just might be the one to beat this weekend.
More loose riding from Ratty. Can he take a win here this weekend?
Laurie Greenland was looking good on the steep and loose Lenzerheide track while Crimmins, on the other hand, looked like he was having more of an issue coming to terms with it. Could Greenland take his first win of the season here?
Manon Carpenter has had a run of bad luck so far this season. Here's to hoping she can turn it around this weekend.
The World Champ going to war with the upper rock garden testing all the line options.
Swiss efficiency ensured all the marshals on track were well fed
Steve Smith looks to be on it this weekend, and would end the day in 4th after timed runs
Minnaar admits he is not in love with the track here, but no one can lift their game like Greg and we fully expect to see him at or near the top on Saturday.
Brendan charging on despite a heavily taped thumb from an early crash in the woods.
Will Sam Hill race? If so, will he race to win or merely lay down a fiery kind of cruise to get up to speed before MSA and his main goal - World Champs Andorra.
Danny Hart is healthy and motivated this weekend after his big win at the Schladming IXS last week.
After a big day, everything was quickly back to running straight and true at the MS Mondraker pit.
The Bulldog is flying and this is a track that will definitely play to the Kiwi's strenths. Smashing, and destroying corners.
Even without the rain the bikes are taking a thrashing and many mechanics were in full tear down mode at the close of practice today.
Bernard Kerr threw down one hell of a TT today, just 2 seconds of the 'Gwizard' himself. Big jumps and steep loose turns are his bread and butter.
Loic Bruni still has the number 2 plate, but Minnaar is hot on his heals in points.
When the numbers start to count... Mike Jones' will be looking to take his race plate into single figures this weekend.
Aaron Gwin isn't afraid to swing wide into the berms to keep things smooth. Carrying speed is the name of the game here in Lenzerheide and after timed training it seems Gwin is doing it the best once again.
Gee wants the win bad here (well here and everywhere) and took his time studying lines into 'The Plunge' that claimed more than a few riders today
Last run of the day and this unbelievable moment when Remi Thirion hit the drop at mach 11, lost his pedal, made a foot-plant on the lip and somehow got out alive. Just look at the spectators' faces.
Remi and mechanic, Damien Bideau, all smiles after a long day in the trenches. Apparently Remi was feeling 'slow' out on track... something we can all laugh along with.
Just 6 runs deep and the steep loose and rough track has used up this rear tire.
Loic's bike, all wired up and ready to download telemetry from the day's training. All this info should help make the Bruni faster on the track tomorrow.
Data downloaded, and it's time to see where seconds might be saved.
Brendan Fairclough had a rough first run, getting swallowed up off "The Plunge" and injuring his thumb. Hopefully the only rider to ever win a race on this track can still hold on...
Despite the setback you can never keep a Brendog down.
are you going to say that is like new with the knobs all breaking up? of course that for a normal person on the rear would do a lot more runs, but for a pro is normal that it is to swap, like any other sport that has wheels and tyres
Will be rooting for Hill for the win but will he put up 100%? Most riders won't be able to coming from an injury. Getting ready for MSA and Andorra I guess.
Not expecting too much from Hill myself, but he did win '10 Worlds at MSA coming back from an injury. Qualification starts shortly, so I guess we'll see what's what soon enough.
So do I but somehow I see him holding a little in reserve to be safe, even though he must be tempted on this track. So many lines are open, what a course.

How many photos were taken in total?
Or maybe even an a filter?
