Specialized Canada is pleased to announce the signing of Kamloops’ Dylan Sherrard, an all-around great guy, who rips on a bike, and loves to share his passion for riding with those around him.

bigquotesI'm so happy about this, it's hard to know where to start. To have Specialized recognize my efforts in mountain biking is flattering to say the least. And to have their full support in moving forward with everything I do? That is a dream come true, - Dylan Sherrard

After breaking his collarbone riding nine years ago, and losing his job at Tim Horton’s as a result, Cheryl Beattie from the Bicycle Cafe Kamloops took a chance and hired 16-year-old Sherrard. Since then, Sherrard’s work ethic, positivity and creativity have proved him to be a valued member of team.

bigquotesWe have seen him as a young man dedicated to guitar hero turn into a person with a ton of passion and dedication to biking and the whole industry, the Bike Cafe has always told him to follow his heart, keep on riding and never let anything get you down and we're glad it's lead him to a place he's happy to be. - Cheryl Beattie

Specialized’s Interior BC rep, John Vanderburg, sees a lot of great riders on a regular basis, but Sherrard stood out from the rest.

bigquotesI have known Dylan for about 5 years. I've seen him develop his riding skills and become a world class rider, but more than that is his love of helping others discover how great mountain biking can be, taking the time to listen to the kids he coaches, the next generation of riders, is one of his biggest strengths. Before, during, and after coaching sessions, he makes time to answer all of the kids' questions and makes sure everyone feels like they have the skills to be an elite rider in the sport. When he's not inspiring kids, he's shredding with the great riders that Kamloops seems to breed. - John Vanderburg

bigquotesDylan and I ride the same trails. I really like riding with him because he's got really creative lines so I'm always learning new ways to ride a familiar trail. - Matt Hunter

The fast trails with lots of air, and constantly changing conditions keep it interesting, and will be the perfect playground for the Demo, Enduro and P.3.

bigquotesI'm looking forward to a bright future of two wheeled radness with Specialized Bicycles. - Dylan Sherrard

So stoked for you Shredhard!! One of the humblest, most stylish, and all around best dudes out there. Let's film something sweet in 2015!

Just one question. How come no one is riding the new demo?
  • 12 1
 had the same question...
  • 11 4
To answer you question a lot of people are riding the new demo... for example Brosnan, Gwin, i think Ropelato is on the new bike, as well as a lot of freeriders, Kenny Smith as well as Matt Hunter...
  • 9 1
FlowMasterO .... it is the new demo ... this guy Freerides and other people ride the other looking Demo for DH Racing mostly but Norbs road the half frame Demo at Rampage and some other people did as well
  • 26 4
The new demo is a carbon race bike, not really intended for what these guys use it for. Whereas the alloy demo is more likely to withstand some big hits I'd imagine
  • 6 3
yes i agree ... the older model design is very proven also !
  • 20 1
Specialized also wants to promote the bikes at lower price points too. I can imagine that the people who look up to or are influenced by Shredhard are not going to be S-Works consumers. Specialized clearly wants to give attention to the aluminum price points, not just the carbon wow.
  • 6 1
Judging from those pow shots, a winter edit would be pretty tight. Either way, can't wait to see what you guys come up with.
  • 2 0
This 2015 27.5 is pretty rad and super relevant! (it's not the price point thing) Most of us mere mortals couldn't afford or justify getting a rig like the carbon asym version. coming from a 2014 demo 8, i'm sure the longer wb of the 27.5 makes it a killer!
  • 4 2
markripper, you are proving my point exactly- not many people can't afford the S-Works/carbon asymmetrical versions so they still want to show that the lower price point aluminum versions are still bikes with a lot of allure to them. Brosnan won a world cup with one and regional pros will ride it too. That's a huge value story that they want to promote for sure. And then next year they will most likely launch an aluminum version of the new carbon frame (probably just not asymmetrical).
  • 4 3
@ ka-brap .... i don't think they will reverse engineer on the asymmetrical versions just because thats not progress for the Industrie ... but they may make the original Demo model 27.5 in carbon next year !
  • 4 1
dh-bomber, that seems less likely to me. Having 2 different designs/platforms sharing the same name would ultimately lead to confusion about which version is the better version, as the first 2 replies here hint at. I bet they did it like this just this year because of time constraints. Having both platforms just creates confusion, which is what no brand wants to have. It's a simpler, cleaner, and stronger story to have one platform in different materials and different price points. They get everyone's attention with the fancy carbon wow and then make it more affordable in year 2. That's how other hardgood brands work as well. That's my bet, but only time will tell.
  • 2 3
dh bomber, they have made a carbon version of the current aluminum one for years before 2015..
  • 3 2
not in 650b though, which is what I think he means
  • 2 5
News flash....Nobody races DH! Get a park bike.
  • 2 0
You guys f*cking better!!! Edit: This was replying to scottsecco, I don't care if you guys get a dh or park bike

 @luckynugget We're working on it!

Very good for Dyl, but I would have loved to see him stay with Kona! They are going to have trouble filling that spot with someone equally as creative

He didn't mention anything about Kona, thank you note or something. is it because?
  • 3 1
Because it's an announcement that he is riding for someone else, why mention anyone else
  • 42 7
Bummer, I loved seeing you with Kona and hate losing you to Socialized. Good luck man will look forward to your videos!

It's sounds like some Kona fans are emotionally disgruntle about the loss.

Specialized makes some great bikes, but they are starting to feel a bit like the New York Yankees, big dogs with money to buy who they want.
  • 13 5
yes, and Mavic is yellow, Hope make CNC parts and Colnago make road frame.

 Agreed! Stoked for him.

As a kid nobody dug more than Dylan. He was constantly improving the dirt jumps at the clay cliffs in Whitehorse. As the very first trails began to take shape on Montana Mtn in Carcross, Dylan was there digging late into the night to create the 'photo berm' and other features that have claimed so many pixels and POD's. Congrats Dylan and thank you Specialized for rewarding his lifelong dedication to the sport.
  • 6 0

  • 5 5
so Specilized continue to build 26 inches frames ? that s a good news, don t wanna see the Coastal crew switch to that commercial handjob
  • 6 1
hehe this is from the coast gravity park website about one of their trails:
HAND JOB
Hand Job offers a natural feel in a narrow corridor with many line options hidden on the loam and roots. The more you ride this trail, the more the lines speak to you.
