We've all been there: It's the rock roll you've done a thousand times before, that one off-camber root section, or maybe it's your first time hitting a brand new drop - you crash. Accidentally crashes are part of our sports. EVOC certainly don’t want you to provoke crashes for this competition but they would like to keep you safe on your next adventure by dishing out prizing for the best fail of each month. Here are our picks for November.

#5 looked like that dude never rode a drop before. He nearly got negative distance.

 What is negative distance ?
  • 124 2
hahah "negative distance" made me spill my coffee all over the damn notebook.. through my nose Frown
  • 19 5
Yeah but ive been there and there is no run in so it is a tricky drop, still funny negative distance.
  • 19 1
That was honestly the best description I've ever read haha.
  • 28 0
His back tire got more distance then his front. LOL
  • 7 7
@danroe, I clocked you the ton in props... my pleasure!
  • 4 4
 Much props, danrowe.
  • 28 0
I watched that and wondered if the dude had even a passing familiarity with gravity
  • 14 0
the dude should have continued the rotation to the end for a front flip!

 @danrowe

#5 did a 'dansition'
  • 8 3
Danrowe - you made my day Big Grin
  • 3 0
 Best dive #5!
  • 2 0
do you see where his pedal/foot placement is? Wow
  • 135 2
Is it just me or does anyone else cringe to the sound of a bike being brutally slapped when cased or bottomed out?
  • 20 1
It always sounds like something snapped to me... Awful noise!
  • 1 0
 same!
  • 30 0
Haha I actually didn't even snap my wheel but I definitely totaled a brand new DT Swiss rim. Huge 3 inch flat spot, but I hear egg shaped rims are gonna be the new standard anyways
  • 7 0
I raced at snowshoe this year and that road gap is pretty tall. I actually yelled out "oh no!" When I saw him coming into the launch with no speed
  • 110 1
Nice to see nobody died this month.
  • 36 0
For real. Last few month had some of the worst crashes... Sometimes there where several where I was genuinely concerned for the riders health...
  • 18 0
Ha ha, yeah mostly comedy fails this month.
  • 79 0
#7 video doesnt do this justice, guy literally dropped 15 feet to an uphill www.pinkbike.com/photo/12488611
  • 21 2
I don't see the uphill but sure wouldn't wanna huck that even to flat.
  • 4 2
Dude has no perception of speed coming up that short!
  • 15 0
i think it should win cause it was called "road gap oopise"
  • 8 0
Seems like they just rode that trail blind and hoped for the best! ...considering what he says and how they didn't double up the 2 jumps before the road gap.
  • 2 0
@Pedro404 It's a massive service road turn with a banking to it. Majorly uphill landing. Monster huck to uphill/flat....have to see it to believe it.

Consider that they can take a dually truck pulling a massive trailer behind it around that turn.

I was the one recording #7. I knew it was coming up. We talked about the road gap on the lift, not at all about going for it. But as we were riding up to it I thought he was just going to roll into it and stop at the lip. That's why I was going so slow. But I guess he forgot what he was rolling up to. Needless to say, he is fine, and it was hilarious.
  • 1 0
lol glad he's OK, but wow. Not a good time to forget where you are.
  • 58 1
hahaha i love how the guy in 7 just turns around like nope, you're on your own there mate
  • 8 0
exactly!!! just turned around like nothing happened
  • 37 0
 #2 best production values
#5 best non-skill maneuver
#7 worst judging of speed
#8 being most meta and GoProing a GoProing or something
  • 6 0
Agree with the ranking, but so sick of GoPro footage of the front wheel. These should be banned, banned, banned. Ok rant over.
  • 3 0
 #2 was so damn beautiful!
  • 14 1
Most of these were kinda ass, #2 was pretty good, but the second rider's wrist just made me cringe... especially having broken mine like that, #6 I was expecting to be massive but totally sucked, #8 would have been a lot better without the edit because it was kinda big, I think #3 totally takes it though
  • 10 1
except we *cannot* reward people for continuing to go-pro the ground eight feet in front of their tire. Other than that I'd agree that #3 stood out in a weak field this month.
  • 1 0
I cannot agree with you more on the poorly setup POV footage.
  • 1 0
Urgh...until I read this comment, I didn't notice his wrist. I nearly hurrrrked my Starbucks.
  • 1 0
#8 when it was in a little better condition

www.pinkbike.com/video/397086
  • 10 1
 #3! I built that trail!!!
  • 8 0
#1 - Big surprise, an E-bike rider can't turn a corner. Good thing he had that throttle!
  • 7 0
I failed to notice it was an e-bike. I thought it was a fun and simple overcooking an unfamiliar corner. Now all I can think is "f*ck that guy"
  • 4 0
I vote #1 purely for that guys laugh!
  • 1 1
Bigger surprise, I'm pretty sure that's not actually an E-bike, looks more like an old jump bike with a white crud catcher mud guard on it.
  • 3 0
Maybe. I forgot about those old downtube mudgaurds. He picks up speed pretty instantly though. And it's hard to tell, but the rear hub looks pretty beefy. I'm just gonna hate on e-bikes either way Wink
  • 2 0
Haha, I'm by no means trying to stop the flow of e-bike hate, just want to point it in the right direction. Smile
  • 8 1
#3 ... I know, I'll grab this tree on the way past, that'll save me. .. not !
  • 6 0
omg haha he was pushing him self away from the tree
  • 3 0
I think it was more of a "Don't punch the tree and break my hand" kind of a move.
  • 7 0
#5 had no chance. Bigger gear or pull back broseph.
  • 4 1
These are all bad, but the October one is a perfect example of what goes through my head every time I hop on a dirt jumper...
  • 5 1
I want to see a video of the cover photo.
  • 5 1
 #8 !!! just because it's huge !!! @Florian29
  • 3 0
 It's over 45 feet.
  • 3 0
Normally goes pretty well. I've hit it some 20-25 times comfortably but something went different that time. Pretty lucky to get outta that one unscathed
  • 1 0
at what speed do you go to jump this ? there must be some kind of long straight before this!
  • 1 0
about a 20 foot long step down then about 100 feet of pedaling your ass off in 9th or 10th gear into a 6 foot lip. I'd say you have to hit it around 30mph/49kmh.
  • 2 0
@angrynipples I hit it in 10th gear and hardly made it, any shorter and I would have ended up like that guy ahha. I hit it in 11th and it's perfect.
  • 2 0
@RedBurn ,can't see me pedal here but it's a perspective of hitting the jump anyway. www.youtube.com/watch?v=PEi9b7obKB4
  • 1 0
@seth339 she's a thick bitch that's for sure. the video was me haha I destroyed my rim but I didnt get hurt at all - not even a bruise. good for you for actually making it this time - especially as of recently, you have to go even faster than what we were hitting a year ago since theres a fair amount of sand there to slow you down. Props for sacking up and sending it
  • 1 0
@angrynipples glad you didn't get hurt, better the wheel than you! Ya I thought the same thing, I hit it a long time ago on my tracer in almost muddy dirt and I felt like we didn't have to go as fast but this time there were some ruts and sand sketchiness. Hopefully I'll see you out there!
  • 2 0
#2 because of a nice textbook pile-up, and cherry on top: the guy taking pictures when his buddies kiss the dirt.
Nice and clean, if I dare say
  • 2 0
My vote goes to #2 - good clear video - slomo and full speed.... and pretty mean..especially for the second bloke who could do nothing and probably ended up worse
  • 4 0
 #3 I was there!!
  • 3 0
#3! or if I can't vote for my own #5 for my man MTBGeezer!!
  • 2 0
#3 "Is the bike alright?" and "Were you recording?" pretty much sums up every crash.
  • 3 0
2015 on end and people still cant get a good cam angle..
  • 3 0
#8 seems like a cool place to ride
  • 9 0
 Shhh... No it's not
  • 11 0
Nuthing to see there, just keep moving along.
  • 5 0
Ya, it's horrible and never a fun time...
  • 3 0
Hahahaha, negative distance, I'm in tears. Funny as hell
  • 4 0
 #6 was weak
  • 3 1
wow no#5 needs to learn how to hop off a curb first then move to bigger things
  • 3 1
Who films their front wheel like that. That should not be allowed to enter a VOD contest.
  • 2 0
#2 - Fill in your own dialog at the point where chunky monkey glances at the other guy while getting up, then takes off.
  • 3 0
#8 gets my vote just for surviving
  • 1 0
I was really hoping for more outta #7 when it started with "I guess it's closed!" Ah well. Gotta go for #5 for almost hitting the base of the drop with his front wheel.
  • 1 0
They were all fun this time round - #1 for the build to up dumb-ass-ery, and #3 for being so lucky to avoid a trip to the hospital.
  • 1 0
The first crash of the October winner looked the worst... that had to jack him up pretty good.
  • 2 0
#2 ..... watched this in the flesh and was full on
  • 1 0
I bet the rider of #5 vid could pull off the #7 vid road gap oopie, hmm second thought maybe come up a little.
  • 1 1
Looks like #2 should start spending time as a roadie. Bike must weigh 50 pounds to be able handle that mass without breaking.
  • 2 0
#5.... was this attempted drop-off... or attempted front flip ?
  • 2 1
WTF is 1 and 6 doing in this mix - The fail of the month should be pinkbike for including them
  • 2 0
Is Lapierre's Farewell video on here somewhere? I don't see it.
  • 3 1
#3 is a trail builder fail.
  • 2 0
Can I vote for October again?
  • 1 0
mtb is becoming like road cycling... lots of people who should have picked a different hobby....
  • 1 0
#3 for a gopro angle fail of the month
man I had so much expectation for #6
  • 1 0
Never thought I would hear a Mac Demarco song in one these videos....
  • 2 0
 No.3
  • 1 0
@JonPerks, is #1 High Weetslade Farm?
  • 1 0
Love the "oh, never mind then" ending on 7
  • 1 0
#5 how to drop safely and win...

The line that #6 was going for was bonkers!
  • 1 0

  • 1 0
 # 2. So much enjoyment from watching that foolishness Smile Smile Smile Smile Smile
  • 1 0
#2 ...2 for the price of 1! Bravo
  • 1 2
I don't know why anyone would think they can casually hit that jump at Snowshoe (#7) and make it. It's pretty dang long!
  • 1 0
we talked about the gap on the lift ride up before that run. i thought we were going to roll it and stop at the lip... thats why i start to slow down before i get to it. he just said screw it and went for it. by accident
  • 1 0
2 over the bars at once!
  • 1 0
 #8 sounded expensive
