@Gilmarques: "The other riders... SO BAD. SO SLOW. I'm gonna make it down faster. The fastest. My time will be tremendous. How am I gonna do that? I know builders, great builders. The best builders. We're gonna build a wall. Keep ISIS out. And mexico is gonna pay for it. We're gonna grab Rampage by the pussy"
@anchoricex: "the jumps are going to be YUGE. And they are going to be built with American dirt - not dirt from Jhina - and American hands and shovels and everything else they use to build jumps, many people are telling me this. YUGE Jhina."
I gotta say that a little piece of me wonders about all the riders saying it's better with fewer of them...
I'm sure that not having to scrap for lines is nice for the established top dogs, but how much does that cut down on innovation and riders like Wil White or Mike Hopkins who really specialize in this kind of terrain but don't build their profiles much elsewhere, or like Rogatkin or Godziek, who could really surprise the world with their talent on this type of terrain...
I tend to default to the riders and organizers and think they probably know best, but part of me wonders what's lost by cutting half the riders
@steezysam: i get the impression that rogatkin and godziek declined. without the prebuilt slopestyle line down the mountain, those guys would be out of their element. it is always tough to have to drop the riders that might have been allowed in previous years, but i think this is for the best. there are obviously some guys on the list who have only made their names as freeriders.
I missed the opportunity to buy tickets for RBR. Has anyone here ever gone without them? Are they pretty strict on spectating without admission? It IS just a matter of climbing a mounting around the entrance gate, no?
'No sidewalks down the whole face' - Kurt Sorge obviously has a really really different definition as to what constitutes a sidewalk compared to normal humans!
Anyone else a little mad that there's no qualifications? I was stoked for a full weekend and come to find out I get shafted and only get to hang out for one day? Come on darren I love you to death but let's ride all weekends for the hard work and effort that goes into this "one day" event now....
Yeah, I've only been waiting since Sorge stepped on the top step for the next one! RAMPAGE!!!!!! Bring it boys!, can't wait to see what goes down this year!
I really hope that not the fastest down the mountain guy wins. Sorry folks, this is not a downhill race, for sure it needs big balls and skills for shredding down there super fast, but its still a free ride comp...
It's a different zone, it's closer to the very first Rampage. There's a "History of Rampage with Darren Berrecloth" it explains more. www.youtube.com/watch?v=TAkPI7RyBWA
@jrocksdh: Take me with you. I do Whistler Crankworx every year, but I've never been able to make the trek to Rampage. It's a bucket list item for sure!
@jayjayjee: i know its a different venue, they'd had the sender for awhile. I can't wait to be there in person while you breathe your crime smog filled LA air
