Flare Clothing Co - Cloudburst Waterproof Riding Jacket

Flare Clothing is a UK-based company, trading since 2013 when founder, Hannah Myers grew tired of the lack of clothing options for female riders. Flare say they aim to "Provide clothing that is of a high performance, that fits flatteringly and comfortably and that looks cool whether you're pinning it on the trails or après-ride in the pub." The Cloudburst comes with a range of features and is waterproof up to 8000mm. It's made from a breathable textured fabric with the added bonus of a hydrophobic finish meaning water runs off the fabric. There are three waterproof pockets to keep your possessions dry whilst out on the trails and adjustable underarm vents to allow for changes in the weather. The hood is removable but has also been designed with trail helmets in mind for those cold, wet rides. The cuffs are adjustable allowing you to alter them to your liking. The dropped tail and taped seams offer additional protection from the wind and rain and the rear of the jacket features reflective detail allowing you to be seen in the dark, as well as a rear light hoop to attach lights for extra safety. Available in X Small, Small, Medium and Large the jacket offers a lot for £179.99 and is designed and made in the UK. (approx $272.80 USD). Flare Cloudburst.

Pinkbike's Take:

bigquotesThe jacket is a great fit and certainly feels flattering, in terms of fit I was able to wear sub gear underneath as well as a base layer with no issues in manoeuvrability on or off the bike. Riding in freezing temperatures I was surprised how warm I was with minimal layers underneath - even with a crash on the ice the jacket fared well without so much as a scratch, testament I think to the quality of the fabric. On the warmer days the underarm vents were a welcome addition when I'd been riding for a while. The hydrophobic finish is brilliant and it kept the water away, even the mud was minimal after a few hours in the saddle through snow and slush on one particular ride and it's easy to clean, I wiped the excess mud with a cloth and left it to dry. I would say that wearing layers underneath is the best option as the waterproof fabric can feel cold against your skin, but it isn't uncomfortable. The branding is subtle with the reflective logo at the back doubling up as protection, I also found the rear light hoop an added bonus when riding at night. The jacket has been great in all weathers, and looks good enough to wear casually when I'm not out on the bike. The waterproofing is second to none and it's hard to find much I dislike aside from the fact it would be nice to have something to adjust the hood as it wouldn't stay up in very windy conditions, but apart from that I find it hard to find any flaws. 179.99 may seem a lot, but it's worth paying out for a well thought out product that will keep you warm and dry in most conditions. - Lauren Jenkins

It's quite fitted, with the dropped tail I didn't have a problem with any breeze and the jacket didn't rise when I was riding.

The jacket with no face! Lauren, I'm sure, if you had shown your quite delightful face in the first photo, these jackets would be flying off the shelves!

looks like a reasonable jacket ... not sure I'd ruin it riding though ?
