Driving through the small town of Alfta seems quiet and peaceful, but as you approach the small lake at the bottom of the slope style a wave of heavy rock music blazes across for Slope fest 2014.
Alfta bike park set on the edge of a small lake dominates the view over the town and surrounding mountains. With the sun blazing and a heavy hitting group of riders, we were set for the main show. The competition was set up into 3 categories, Amateur, Junior and Pro. the juniors hitting the smaller slope style course, whilst the amateurs and pros stepping up for the main line. The course was set out with various features to put the riders to the test across all the obstacles including drops, huge kickers, wall rides and boner logs (no open loops here!) who could combine the perfect run?
Riders had come from all over Europe, with many riders from Russia, Sweden and Norway. The amateur competition was next level with the winning run linking up some huge tail whips whips and finishing off with a superman seat grab to tail whip.
As the Pros warmed up for the final, everyone was getting used to the course floating 360s everywhere and some floaty flips over the last double, nothing was being given away just yet.
Finals kicked off and the level was out of this world, opposite double whips, double truck drivers front flips off just about everything, the riders were defiantly pumped to ride and hungry for the win.
Piecing together a solid run with a huge double opposite downside whip
Marc Diekmann was looking good down the course throwing a huge front flip off the boner, unfortunately he had an bad crash off the last drop
Final results in and your winners:
1st Adrian Tell
2nd Alex Alanko
3rd Elof Lind
Overall Slopefest was one Rad event, the riding level and scene in Sweden seems to be exploding with fresh talent!
