Coronageddon or "Carmageddon Two" on the 91 freeway may have played a significant role in today's low numbers. Travel for many Southlanders had to be rerouted with several riders saying it took them anywhere from twenty minutes to over an hour extra to get to the venue, and that will hold true for tomorrow's racing action as well. There were a total of just four pro men and three pro women in the enduro today, with numbers proportionally low as a whole throughout the event.
Enduro Men's Pro Podium. 1st place: Leland Turner 04:48.38, 2nd place: Cody Masson 04:49.57, 3rd place: Evan Turpen 04:54.09, 4th place: Anthony Tintelnot 05:34.25
Now where were we? Oh right, Aaron Gwin is back racing Fontana. We caught up and asked him whether or not launching the race team and having the first event be Fontana was planned. "
It was timing" Gwin said,
"I could have made it out to Round 2 at Bootleg but that didn't really work. I just wanted to get out and race on the new bike as soon as I could"
He went on to say that it was great being able to launch the new program in Fontana as that is where it all started for Gwin. We spoke to Brad Howell, Good Times Ambassador, aka, that guy that drives the truck and tows the trailer out to the events, to find out what his role would be regarding the team. He advised that they are hands off with the Mob, their role is to bring out the truck and trailer to events in the USA. They are all "one family" he explained but them being at the event was complimentary, not a necessity. Brad went on to say "
Of course we want to support our racers, but we also want to support the everyday rider".
We found Cole Picchiottino shadowing Gwin all day today. We asked Gwin if he had plans to help out riders outside of his team (referring to Cole), to which he replied "
Cole helps me as much as I help him. I wish I could help more young riders out, but I am pinned right now. I would like to do more camps this year, especially right at the end of the season.." I guess we'll have to wait to see how Gwin's season shakes out.
Keep It Pinned Pinkbikers!

Wheel size is overrated. I'd still love to see 29er DH bikes...

This one looks more refined. Would like to know more!
Apart from Gwin, who the hell are those guys?
Yeah, rent in SoCal is almost twice what it is in Pittsburgh, but articles like this further reinforce the fact that I've made the correct decision to move my ass out of that frozen hellhole.
Proper this....
I guess he rides for them, looks like the logo.
Ironically, they don't appear to sell Ibis bikes.
The Empire Cycles LTD frames are rad looking though.
Seriously, there are so many other talented riders out there. Share the headlines boys, share the headlines.
