Photo Epic: Friday Night Lights Pump Track Challenge

Afternoon rains postponed the pump track challenge yesterday after the track became increasingly slick and there was a high risk of serious injury to the racers. It got back under way under dwindling twilight tonight. Jill Kinter suffered some bad luck in the final heat against Anneke Beerten when she slipped on the start because of some debris on the decking. Joost Wichman took the men's win, and young gun Walker Shaw rode to an impressive fourth place. It was amazing to see guys and girls throw down after a day of Enduro practice followed by DH Racing.

The riders right side of the track certainly seemed to hold an advantage over the left. Perhaps because it was much better lit.

It's too bad Jill got hung up on the start gate, it would have been cool to get to have a women's final that was contested. Not to downplay Anneke's win, big congrats there, but seeing the two of them race would have been a good show.
