After a bit of a complicated weekend last week in Brazil, which included the airline losing his bike, Mick moved on to Valparaiso in Chile wanting to make it up. It all goes really fast at the Urban DH series, with practice, qualifying and racing happening on the same day.

After a few good practice runs and a qualifying round it was time for the one run that counts. Here is what Mick said: "It felt great to be at a race again. I was a little nervous about the course at first, but I felt reasonably comfortable by the time qualifying came around. I took it a bit easy in the qualifier as there was a couple of hard pedal sections. In the final I felt I had a good run. I pedalled hard and felt strong for the whole race. I finished in 5th place. It's not the result I was hoping for, but it feels good to get a solid race under my belt and stay safe heading into the pre-season preparation."

Since Mick wasn’t a contender for the championship anymore, we are happy that he didn't injure himself and still managed a nice podium position finish with a top 5. He also brought back some good footage from the event. It is now time for him and the rest of the team to gather in Queenstown, New Zealand, for testing, then race his national championships along with Tracey and Remy Morton.

I love the attitude of the polygon team to development of bikes and parts. Every few races they seem to have a new prototype, where other manufacturers seem content to make minor adjustments once a year, and fob it off as a radical new product. Their choice of a less middle-of-the-road suspension brand, Bos, and their support of smaller companies like BOX components only make it better! Best of luck to Mick and the whole team in the upcoming season!

Exactly! Proper prototyping should involve many different designs and proper testing with each prototype. It seems like some of these companies think that they're just gonna get it right on the first try and that its gonna be the best thing since sliced bread.

Why is Urban DH not a thing everywhere? Would love to see this catch on. Who wouldn't want to give this a go if they had amateur level events near them?

Crazy adrenaline. Urban downhill = ultimate concentration. For most too much risk, to them - eh, it's not that bad. Crazy.
