Funn Updown Dropper Seatpost

Funn's Updown dropper seatpost has 125 millimeters of infinite travel, and reportedly weighs 570 grams. That's about 100 grams lighter than its predecessor. The working internals are powered by a sealed, self-contained, gas-charged hydraulic cartridge and the system is cable actuated. The CNC machined handlebar remote can be adjusted in four ways: right or left, and either above or below the handlebar. Its generous, 422-millimeter length should cover most rider and frame combinations. The post and slider are machined from 7075 aluminum alloy - one of the strongest - and available diameters are 30.9 and 31.6 millimeters.

Details:

Material: AL7050 inner and outer tubes
Mechanism: internal cartridge, cable-actuated
Diameters: 30.9mm, 31.6mm
Zero-offset seat clamp
Travel: 125mm
Length: 422mm
Color: Black
Weight: Seatpost - 570g, Lever - 35g
MSRP: $260 USD

It does look funn, but I'm waiting for a full length review so I can get a better feel for the ups and downs of owning one.

 Updown funk you up

The cable is not stationary like other dropper posts. Having to keep extra cable hanging that moves up and down with the seatpost can get annoying.

 @sewer-rat: funnk

@abzillah: It's all perception. I've been riding with a command post since 2012 and I don't even notice it at all. different strokes.

Updown girl, she's been living in her updown world...kill me

I'm sure there will be an infinite number of opinions on this one.

@ChampionP: On my KS 950i it definitely got in my way. When the seat was down, the cable would rub against rear wheel when the shock was compressed. If not enough slack in the cable, the seat wouldn't extend all the way up. I loved the KS 950i, but when stationary cables came out (KS Lev), I jumped ship.

@abzillah: fubar and no funn at all

Is it infinite travel if there is only 125mm of it? Surely an infinite travel seat post should have me on the moon in a few days

Not gonna lie. That would be cool

@chillrider199: I was confused by this too, I just assume it was a typo and was meant to be finite

 @Joebohobo: *infinitely adjustable travel Wink

 Unfettered adjustment? Big Grin

Funn made it through the comments relatively well compared to Crank Brothers.

Ya no ones mentioned that having the cable mount at the top was one of the biggest flaws in 1st gen adjustable posts, second only to having the thing explode after 2 rides
  • 19 1
This fine piece of journalism forgot to mention it is available in the new blacker black.

I'm not sure I would drop that kind of money on an unproven product

HA! This is mountain biking. Products are usually "field" tested by consumers then revised later through new versions. Having been the guinea pig for companies recently I'm with you, I typically only buy products that have a couple years of real world abuse under them.

@ka-brap: Perhaps....We've sunk to a new low with these puns.

@ryan83: I definitely think the quality of punns lately has been up and down.

The standards of puns have dropped.

Can't we have one POST without any puns.

Companies come up with filthy names for their shocks, why not call dropper a Fister?

Fox and Rockshox get together to make the FocksCox Sack Beater... with input from Crank Bros

 My last one...the peter beater?

@LukeBurgie: cooler booter is legit. Well played sir!

 "125 millimeters of infinite travel"

What??
  • 21 1
The exchange rate on infinity has really taken a hit recently with Rockshox driving the value of the metric system up.
  • 1 0
that takes marketing bs to a whole new level
  • 4 0
Updown Funnk gon' give it to you.
  • 1 2
Flood the market with a bunch of droppers that more or less do the same thing, But only Rockshox has one any longer than 170mm? The market needs to catch up with them. I don't want to have to get a reverb just to have long enough travel.
  • 3 4
Cool another cable dropper post just like almost every other one on the market. f*ck off with this shit for real people how many choices do we really need?! Thomson, KS, Easton, crank bros, Raceface, giant, specialized, fox, And now this?! If your going to release a dropper post at least make it innovative like Magura(electronics). they're just throwing their name in the hat with the rest of the very similar posts hoping that they get picked.
  • 2 1
And yes I realize that this will drive down prices a bit but this shits getting so cookie cutter. Why not at least mount the cable around the seat clamp like Ks so there's not a bunch of slack when the post is slammed
  • 4 2
 So many new dropper posts!
  • 3 2
Am I the only one who thinks that remote activator and whole unit looks ugly?
  • 1 0
I kinda like it, looks industrial an tough. Would look great next to hope brakes if it was polished
  • 3 1
Flood the market with droppers we want lower prices sweet
  • 1 0
How much and how easy is it to replace the internal cartridge that will inevitably leak and require replacing?
  • 2 1
Funny...I was gonna say the same thing...dammit that didn't work.
  • 2 1
All these new droppers and still no quick release saddle Wink
  • 1 0
but where is the stealth option?
  • 1 2
Faggets wear Prada Satan wears RMK shit
  • 3 4
 This looks funn.
  • 12 2
Your pun quality is rapidly dropping.
  • 3 1
Hopefully they return to their previous heights
  • 5 0
Is this going to be an infinite post?
  • 3 6
Looks like you can have a lot of funn going up and down with this post.
