Interbike 2008 - Giro Eyewear and Gloves

Oct 3, 2008

Giro is easily best known for making amazing helmets, but did you know that they make eyewear and gloves too? Yep eyewear that fits great with your helmet so no more obstruction of fit between eyewear and helmets. The new glove line is also an extension of safety and visual appeal from their helmet line up.

Check out their all new eyewear and gloves inside:
With the all new Score goggle, Giro set out to make a top quality pair of goggles that fits great inside full face helmets and that is what they achieved. The frame offers a full field of view and an unmatched fit with a wide range of helmets. Plush multi layer face foam gives them a great fit and comfort, while the impact-resistant True SightTM polycarbonate lens features a durable anti-fog treatment. Tear off posts are also standard for those not so fresh days.

Eric Richter runs us through the Score Goggle:

Frame color options: Black or White
Lens options: Clear or Grey and Tear Offs
MSRP: $60 USD

Eric takes us on a tour of the new Giro Gloves:

The all new glove line up is actually really vast covering open and full finger options. We've decided to really focus on the full finger offerings with the Remedy, the Xen and the Rivet. Graphic tie ins are obvious and will really ad to a rider's kit when gearing up next season.

The Remedy

The Remedy is the DH glove that is designed to protect and not inhibit dexterity. It is using d3O in the crash pad of the palm and MSRP is $42 USD.

The Xen

The XEN is the all-mountain offering. The TechnogelTM padding in the palm should reduce abrasions in the chance of an off. 3 piece palm and 4 way stretch upper make this a great fitting and feeling glove. MSRP is $38 USD.

The Rivet

The Rivet is an XC race ready glove with 4 way stretch breathable upper and a ClarinoTM palm. MSRP is $30.

Eric shows us the newest Giro Glasses:

The Instigator is Giro's "Fashion meets function" eyewear piece. As good on the trail as it is cruising around town.

Frame colors and MSRPs:
-Gloss Black / Grey Polarized $139
-Bronze Fade / Brown Polarized $139
-Bronze Fade / Brown $89
-Gloss White / Grey $89
-Matte Black / Rose Silver $119

I have a pair of the sun glasses and they are rad. The optics are amazing and the fit is perfect. I bet the goggles and gloves rule as well because they take a lot of time with R&D.

Those gloves look sweet.

Can anyone tell me why no-body makes a dual layer lens for mtb? Pretty much every company that makes bike goggles make a dual layer lens for the winter. Also why no spherical lenses?
