Goat Style Bike Festival 2009 is just around the corner

If you listen carefully at night, you can hear the goats stirring. You can hear them running around, trying so desperately to escape from their pen. They know what’s coming; they know what’s going to happen…and they want out.

Goat Style Bike Festival is 4 months away and the anticipation is rocketing through the roof. Plans have been underway from the moment that Goat Style ’08 finished. Last year ended with rain…it was tough but it only made us stronger, and it really ticked the goats off. They want redemption; they want another crack at what’s going to be the biggest Goat Style ever. There will be no more cancellations, there will be no more muddy, soaking wet course…and there will be no more “maybe next year” because this year…it’s on!

As with any sense of growth, there comes bigger vision, progression if you will. That’s why for this year–we’ve grown Goat Style to 4 days of action. Starting Thursday, July 9th, our course opens for riders to do what they do best–ride. There will be two full days of practice time for riders, including warm-ups on the morning of day three (qualifying day), and then the show stopper…the goatstyle slope style finals…with a bigger cash purse. But wait, there’s more. Friday, July 10th, under the lights we’ll be hosting “Friday Night Lights”. It’s a jump jam format for riders to throw down everything they’ve got. Why? It’s a chance for you to stand tall with your best and win cash on sight. Money will be up for grabs for those who want to get “rowdy”. Spot lights, truck lights and the moon shining on your potential opportunity to walk away with cash in your pockets.

This event is about the riders. It’s about the passion and dedication, and it’s about the focus and drive. Our course, its mission is to delve into the realm of these attributes. It’s built from rider input, so that every berm, every lip, and every landing is set to perfection. Goat Style’s course is going to be bigger, more technical; it will have more lines, and will be longer. And it’s going to have a little “treat” thrown in–influenced by a certain energy drink.

Every year Goat Style has seen limits and records smashed. Every year we’ve learned how to better this Slope style event. And every year the unbearable excitement of Goat Style explodes with energy and enthusiasm. This coming summer, with four days of expo, demos, music, photography, movies, feature competitions day and night, food, beverage(s), and rider showdowns…the bar has been raised…again.

You need to be there…all of you. Whether rider, spectator, parent, grandparent, industry dealer, volunteer, sponsor…we welcome you to Goat Style Bike Festival 2009.

Strap on your helmets because the goats are ready to charge!

wow, goatstyle is about "riders" input...plural. We welcome all input...we have our main builders "Colin Begin, Gordon McArthur, Wes Graham, Casey Groves, Dustin Greenall, Aeron, Scott Alleyn" supported by the fernie crew, the kelowna crew, and any other crew that wants to see this course as sick as ever. (sorry if i missed anyone...but don't worry...you're still in on the build scene). Goat style is about growth, it's about teamwork, and it's about rider input. There are so many riding styles, so many different views...but it's all welcome at goatstyle. Everyone with a bike needs to be there.

It's going to be a big year...for everyone.

So now that I put my foot in my mouth - Not sure where my head was - Just stoked about Goatstyle and my involvement in it I guess. I would like to appoligize to those involved for using the "I" word, when there is no "i" in Team and thats what Goatstyle is all about, Team Work.

Looking forward to taking part again this year. 2008 was off the hook despite the rain and this year is looking to surpass it by a huge amount. Our store location will be shut down for the length of the event so we can do as much as we can to support the event. We've got a few surprises up our sleeve that will likely be made public in later press releases. This year's sponsors look great, the prizes look great and more and more riders are starting to take notice of all the riders who have already figured out that Goatstyle is the place to be.
