Maybe it's just me, but where was the creativity in those videos? I mean they can shred pretty hard and the riding was clearly better than anything i could do, BUT how did they get 8/10 points in "Cinematography & Composition" or "Perspective & Difficulty Shooting"? They just mounted a gorpo to their helmet..
  • 10 3
Ok forget it, i'm an idiot! Just ignore these two comments, they are pointless!
  • 21 2
I didn't read that they had to be "raw clips"...
But the thing about perspective is still strange.
  • 6 1
Yeah, you can still use raw footage but also have diversity of mounting options. I would love to see a narwhal or swivel mount in one of these videos!
  • 3 1
Just saying.. there is an edit/delate option in comments for some time..
  • 3 0
I know, but only until you're logged out... Wink
  • 5 0
For some reason the edit/delete button always works for me, until I say something really stupid and humilate myself. Then it always dissapears Big Grin

Loving this contest btw! I agree with the winner for sure Smile
  • 1 1
am I the only one that thinks that Taxco vid is sped up? or is he really just that fast
  • 2 0
though it looks fast... have you seen remy metalliers vid?
  • 5 0
the taxco video is not sped up... i am the rider in the video, and belive me people were going way faster than me in that race
  • 1 0
Have you seen nicolas quere's video from taxco, that was pretty scary, too!!

Kind of a bummer to see that many pros have entered, and were able to enter, this contest. I get they aren't paid a ton, but it would be cool to see other people riding. At least a lesser-known go the top stop! Congrats man!
  • 7 0
exactly what I thought, how are the masses meant to compete with the elite? Im glad the first vid won because it was nice to see a new unseen (to me trail) that hasn't be on the front page before.
  • 6 0
They are looking for the "best" footage to prolly re-use in one of their marketing schemes, but they need a average joe contest, for the rest of us!
  • 6 0
Whatever. No way #1 was pro, homeboy had a front shifter. #GTFOH Rolleyes
  • 2 0
I'm pretty sure if he wins he may be able to ditch it, IF HE WANTS
  • 2 0
Yeah, surely being Kurt Sorge is cheating?
  • 5 1
For every cool contest there's always someone who complains because "pros" are allowed to enter. That doesn't restrict everyone else from entering. If you want to see other people's riding, then go to the contest page and watch them. Its a contest for 20k, which is more money than any mtb contest out there. Why wouldn't they take a stab at it? I don't care how many sponsors the rider has, as long as the riding is cool, why complain? And whats the point in keeping sick riders out of comps like this? Just so less skilled riders can win? That completely defeats the purpose of this video competition.

That trail is up on Duthie Hill. East of Seattle, Washington… Very close to Issaquah.
  • 1 0
That's funny. Ride this trail quite a bit before things open and after things shut down. Glad to see it made the front page!
  • 27 1
I thought they were meant to be un-edited??? So, Sorges slow-mo isn't editing???
  • 17 0
I thought it was just my slow internet connection but I think you are correct.
  • 14 15
I think they mean more like different angles and speeding up and wthout music
  • 10 9
why did i get neg propped? I was just giving an answer to skootur...
  • 5 0
Yup, I'm super and confused at how this "Unedited" clip showed up on this list? I went over the rules again and their pretty clear...
  • 2 0
My clip wasn't accepted as it wasn't footage straight from the camera as I chopped about 5 seconds off the start and finish but slo-mo is not editing. Different rules for the pros?
  • 19 1
The pros shouldn't be able to enter, cause even in the amateur, there's already a pretty rad level, witch leave no chances at all to the semi amateurs... And for me, any Contest line should not be giving any credit, cause where's the creativity from the rider in that ?

But maybe i'm wrong, i let Pinkbike crowd judge me Big Grin .

Vid 1 was the winner for me! Rad trail!
  • 10 0
Whoever built that trail nailed it!!
  • 9 0
That is a trail made and maintained by king county parks, evergreen mountain bike alliance and volunteers. The park is duthie hill in Washington and that trail system is fantastic... Look it up on evergreens website.
  • 7 0
Pretty awesome seeing Duthie here, I love that trail.
  • 4 0
Agreed, I was riding there roughly once a week for quite a while then things like school, work and kids got in the way of that... and the parking lot! the new one should be open soon. Semper Dirticus (highlighted trail in the video) is one of my favs and I always find it a good challenge.
  • 4 0
year round, local and free mountain bike park. best kind ever. Duthie is awesome. You can ride this park from little to serious skill sets and utilize the whole park to improve. they packed some awesome trail networks in this park. cant wait till the new slope line opens up.
  • 5 0
Incredibly lucky to have a park like Duthie so close to home, and to have a club like EMBA to make it all happen. We are so fortunate here in the Seattle area.
  • 9 0
The Slow mo ruined Sorges clip.. And I dont hate slowmo at alll..I just dont think it was used well and looked a lot cooler at full speed.
  • 5 0
Without slo-mo Sorge's clip would have been a solid 5 seconds
  • 7 0
question Pinkbike: if Edgar Gomez vas voted 2 times in 2nd and 1 in 3rd vs Kurt Sorge with 2 in 3rd and 1 in 2nd. Doesn't that makes Edgar to be # 2?
  • 2 0
this made no sense to me either
  • 1 0
 yeah,WTF? just thinking that
  • 1 0
 Mind = blown
  • 2 0
They didn't win anyways so not a big problem IMO
  • 7 2
Cool to see a trail like Semper Dirticus on here! Great local trail that really helped me get into the sport. Guess I should have uploaded a clip, haha Smile Congrats!
  • 7 1
Duthie is such a great place to ride
  • 5 0
First guy, Matt Kurle, should have this in the bag. Non pro, still steezy and without dowt the best line of the three.
  • 4 0
Duthie is my local ride. Nice to see one of my local guys on this list. Semper Dirticus is a very fun line.
  • 1 0
I am using Gopro 4 Black. Their footages are so stable. I wonder what they do to achieve that stable videos. In my case, a lot of shake happens wherever I mount Gopro, Chest or helmet.
  • 1 1
anyone else think that the taxco route is garbage? So many things that don't make sense, like a massive dirt sender with no landing, so they just have to speed-bump it. Then that stupid step-up that has a step-up 10 feet in front of it, and then a little jump immediately following the landing. Nothing about it is fluid or allows for a lot of speed over airtime
  • 1 0
that massive sender with no landing was ment as a brake check, since the past years it was preety hard to figure out if you had the right speed for the two doubles, and it worked preety good.
  • 1 3
I guess no one at GoPro knows how to search "Google" or "YouTube"...they just paid a $1,000 for a video that is the same has hundreds of others out there. So many better videos of Semper Dirticus and other Duthie trails posted online for FREE...
  • 2 0
First guy threw a fatty whip
  • 5 0
 Jk Sorges was obese
  • 3 1
#3 - Edgar Gomez, Taxco DH gets my vote. all 3 were decent though.
  • 4 3
Correct me if I'm wrong. Unless you are a pro and ride big jumps it's not worth entering.
  • 2 3
You're correct. If you can't ride sick stuff, then you won't win a contest where the best riding will win. Nice job in pointing out the obvious...
  • 4 0
Get creative and post an angle or creative line that no one has ever seen before. Performance and Style is only 25% of the vote anyways.
  • 1 2
Damn,,,Edgar successfully pumps up the adrenaline, i would vote video#3
