In January 2015 Hans Rey and Tom Oehler set out to explore the Highlands of Guatemala in Central America. The hut to hut trip was at high altitude above 10'000 ft., the trails were rough and remote. At the end of the back country bike ride the guys checked out a former Wheels 4 Life charity project and handed out an additional 31 bicycles at an incredible local school, a very inspirational project indeed. Back in Austria, photographer Stefan Voitl raised more money for Hans' non-profit charity by organizing a photo exhibition from the trip.
I was so stoked to see this. I'm familiar with Antigua, some of the highlands, and some of the lines in that vid. I've actually spent time with the homie at 4:30 riding for a fundraiser last year. I'm involved with the school at the end of the vid, (www.eftc.org.uk ) It's a great place doing awesome things. I was really surprised to see this vid! They are located in Jocotenango, just outside of the tourism in Antigua. It's an impoverished community that is fairly representative of Guatemala. Strong work for everyone including oldtown. Thanks for all you do!
I just wish that Rey could live for ever ,cause people like he deserve that kind of thing, giving life live and at the same time inspiring new and good people to make this stupid world a little better ,may you live for ever Rey GRANDE ABRAÇO
Dude, I only read what you wrote, and not what you meant. If you meant that Antigua is not representative of Guatemalan culture and people, than you should have worded your comment a bit better, considering Antigua is a part of Guatemala and Kansas isn't in Canada. Just sayin.
Antigua gets a lot of tourists, you are correct. That being said, aside from a few of the interviews, a majority of this video was filmed on Volcan de Agua near San Juan del Obispo, El Zur, Jocotenango/San Felipe and in the department of Huehuetenango.
Strong work for everyone including oldtown. Thanks for all you do!
