Winter time is video time - Many of you might not remember how it feels to be riding a downhill bike, but we will at least give your eyes a chance to refresh your memories.
The Red Bull Media House followed the European Cup though the last season and under the direction of iXS’s own video guru Ralf Schupp they produced eight documentaries. Those twelve-minute broadcasts follow the series and feature not only world-class race action, but also look behind the scenes with many interviews. They have already been broadcasted on Red Bull’s own station Servus TV.
Currently European downhill tracks are hibernating, the first team kits are arriving neatly packed and there is still time left to assemble new parts, videos are a brilliant tool for killing time. So, for all of you too busy to watch telly in summer, put on your singlet, grab a can of beer and find a warm spot on the couch!
iXS European Downhill Cup Video #1 - Preview and Monte Tamaro 2011
The first session features all the best action footage and interviews of the first race in Monte Tamaro (SUI), combined with the preview about the upcoming season 2011 and behind-the-scenes highlights of Scott 11 rider Nick Beer.
iXS European Downhill Cup Video #2 - Todtnau 2011
The Red Bull Media House has put together a great report to show the best action of the round 2 of the iXS European Downhill Cup. With Todtnau (GER) the newest member of the iXS family, an amazing race at the well-known venue is included in the second part of the series.
yeah, the commentary is killing the video. HOWEVER there are a lot better videos out there from the iXS EDC made by iXS themselves, without the annoying commentary, and really good riding footage. this is the link to the Vimeo channel: http://vimeo.com/ixsdownhillcup
The central euro (Fr, Ger, It, Aus etc) attitude towards sport is very clinical and serious, they definitely don't make exciting sports like DH and dh-skiing sound exciting when they talk about them (though that guy sounds Irish). They're also quite cheesy when they do try to sound exciting, but then they're different from Scandinavian and UK (though aside from Rob Warner UK sports commentary is very bad, especially in soccer) approaches so they sound that way to us. Generally they are the opposite of CG, if only he was doing commentary.
btw, these videos are already quite old, they exist since a couple of weeks, they were made to air on national TV (austrian), which does kinda explain the commentary.
