Lapierre's DH Team is a reality in North America. The French brand will bring in the DH Team, shown here, for $7900 and the DH 727 for $4800 USD. The Team model is outfitted with the same spec as Gravity Republic rides.
The new DH Team leaves little to be desired, including a Ti spring and the most popular (and most blacked-out) tires on the World Cup circuit. Note the screw-on fork bumpers, dedicated mud guard, and seven-speed SRAM drivetrain.
Fox gave Interbike attendees a history lesson. Six championship jerseys were on display at their travelling museum. Anyone remember which victory each one celebrates?
Old Man Mountain makes some of the sturdiest racks known to man, and now they offer a chainsaw mounting accessory that should make a lot of diggers happy.
X-Shield is designed to be worn over existing eyewear, or by itself, to offer bug-free riding at Windham or Kettle Moraine, and during the winter for fatbike epics. The stylish "Freedom" full face model (right) is for helmetless riders, while the "Enduro" on the left is for half-shell wearers who don't want to be encumbered by goggles. Both come in ventilated and non-ventilated configurations, and tinted or clear options. The Enduro may be a comfortable choice for chainsaw operators, as it will fit under a hat, or a half-shell helmet.
The Robert Axle Project addresses many issues that arose after the industry converted to through-axle rear hubs. He makes an axle to fit just about every axle-mount trailer and rack system made. Another great resource for diggers.
Gravity's AM/enduro range is called "Gradient" and it features two styles of handlebars in carbon, a new stem in four lengths and a carbon crankset that can be configured as a single or a double. No dropper post... Yet.
FSA's new Force disc brake is now fully supported, with replacement parts kits, bleed kits and shop tools, all in stock. FSA also has launched a number of video tutorials to help shops and customers understand every step of the setup and bleeding process.
We asked Pivot founder Chris Cocalis which bike was attracting the most attention and he said it was a split between the XC/trail Mach 4 and the Phoenix carbon DH racer. Now, there's a spread. The carbon framed dw-Link Mach 4 rolls on 27.5-inch wheels and this one was sporting the rarest component group in the world: a fully functioning Shimano XTR Di2 drivetrain. The 115-millimeter-travel Mach 4 can be as light as 10 kg (22 pounds) and if you balk at the MSRP of the Di2 version, Pivot offers eleven build kits that bring the XC/trail screamer dangerously close to being affordable.
Dainese showed the Pro Pack - a back protector/hydration pack that can be unzipped to slim it down for DH use. Together, the pack is large enough to bring food, tools and warm clothes for epic rides. Unzipped, it offers a protector and a bladder with minimal storage. The protector on the far right is a separate item, used to illustrate what's inside of the pack. Straps on the bottom hold pads and a clip-on stretch pad holds either a full face or a half shell helmet for enduro competition.
Connex says that its eleven speed chain is right around the corner. One of the best made chains in the business, Connex also pioneered the mechanical, removable chain link - which remains the most reliable of its kind. To give you an idea of the magnitude of the task, imagine making a machine that can sort chain links from a big bin, and then feed them by the thousands with the printing and chamfers facing the correct direction - no mistakes allowed. That's just one step in the process. Chain engineers are members of a secret order of holy power nerds.
Brooks may not make much for mountain biking, but their bags and accessories are show-stoppers nonetheless.
Brooks recently perfected a method to vulcanize natural, hand-mixed, gum rubber to organic cotton canvas in order to produce this durable and comfortable saddle. The $150 "Canbium's" rails are hollow alloy steel and the end-plates are aluminum. Brooks retains the classic rivets of their original leather "Professional" model, from which the term, "On the rivet" was coined.

The Prime-X POV camera is billed as a professional tool. Reportedly it has a three-hour run time, can shoot 60 frames per second at 1080 pixels, can be hooked up to a remote mic, weighs only 3.5 ounces and is wifi compatible. The camera is less than three inches long and less than an inch in diameter, which means that it can be used in a lot of locations and situations where a boxy GoPro may prove to be cumbersome
Osmo makes a line of proven charge-up and recovery fluids. They just launched a women's specific range, claiming their research showed that, among other ingredients, females need up to six percent more sodium and potassium. Presently, Osmo offers pre and post ride formulas. Their launch bottle says it all.
Cycling Sports Group PR Manager Sofia Whitcombe (left) and Sombrio Marketing Coordinator Ashley Turk ran PB through their new lineup. Ashley says that Sombrio actually reduced the size of its range in order to refocus on its original mission - to supply top riders with technical gear, comfortably styled for gravity and all-mountain lifestyles.
Colorways range from bright to subdued and Sombrio tastefully matched its accessories so riders can mix and match from its Epic, Freeride or Gravity ensembles. Shown here is Sombrio's Freeride kit: Realto Jersey - $65, Pinner short - $120 and Prodigy gloves - $35. The DH Charger short (upper right) is cut slightly wider, and it is an inch shorter than the freeride model to fit DH-sized pads. Gloves are made for all three categories. (clockwise) The Spun XC/trail model - $30, Prodigy FR model - $35, and the Cartel DH glove - $45.
My favorite is the Prodigy. The fit is snug and super flexible, and there is a lot of protection built in, without resorting to stiff, rubberized armor.
Rockymounts Brass Knuckles roof-top rack and bike carrier system now offers the Fattie fatbike upgrade kit. The 20-dollar option includes a wider tire catch bar and also a pair of extensions that extend the ratcheting cinch buckles.
DT Swiss is expanding its suspension lineup. We first saw the 150-millimeter OPM fork in France. The lowers are one-piece magnesium and the stanchions and crown are aluminum. Two damping cartridges are available: the ODL, which stands for 'Open, Drive and Lockout,' and the more popular OL XC version that has only 'Open and Locked' settings. Other options include manual or cable-actuated-remote controls for the damping features. Weight is reported at 1630 grams for the OPM version and prices are $1159 for the OPM model, and $829 for the OL version.
Wilderness Trail Bikes has had its saddle demo program in place for a number of years. WTB makes a special line of test saddles which have the best padding, but are mated to its least expensive steel-rail chassis. Customers can borrow a saddle from a WTB dealer and put it to the bum for a ride or two before committing to a purchase. When that day arrives, he or she can choose from up to four price points and two different widths in most models. Colors, or lack thereof, stratify the levels. Black with gold graphics means it's a Team model with carbon rails. Black only is a Pro model with Titanium rails and white is the Race saddle with steel rails. Yellow graphics mark the test models.
Rob Aguero, director of sales and marketing at Reynolds was showing off his Black Label AM wheelsets. Pivot cycles just started spec'ing them on its XC/trail builds.
Black label wheels use Reynolds' 23mm inner-dimension AM carbon rim, laced to DT Swiss 240 hubs, with DT Swiss Aerolite spokes. Weight for the 27.5 AM is 1528 grams and the price is $2400 USD.
San Marco of Italy's retro saddle collection will soon be seen on hipster and custom rides throughout North America. It has to be so.
Mike Levy's take on enduro fashion has filtered down to the boardwalk. The Fuel Belt has all the accessories to get you through life's most challenging stages.
LP Tents makes everything from inflatable displays to circus-sized tents for special events - and everything in between. On display, were samples of hardware and accessories used in the craft, including inflatable furniture.

...Fowl jokes, guys.
Q: What's the difference between a cock and a dick?
A: One rides and the other gets ridden.
What it looks like happened is the new bike went straight from design to manufacture - without any R&D/testing and the team riders hated it.
Btw by far my favorite team!
If that is the case, its good to see our sport isn't totally ruled by the dollar just yet
Richard any Lapierre dealer in canada ?
Greetings from montreal
The only issue I can think of is an obvious one: it will fog up easily, but if you consider that NFL players have those glass facemasks, there must be a pretty good way to prevent fog. In other words... this is the future.
Cock "psssssssttttttt..................fatbiker.................over here..................m-a-r-i-j-u-a-n-a........"

Just Chillin With The Cock
Last winter, it really jumped the shark. On a thrice weekly basis, you could hear/read: "We're going to do some fatbiking on some sweet fatbike trails", "join us on a fat-friendly ride", "perfect fat conditions today"
It's as if they preface every word with 'fat'. I have rarely heard anyone use 'enduro' unless just to take the piss.
