Interbike Day 3 - Shiny toys!

Sep 25, 2009

2010 is going to be an exciting year for Intense Cycles, as well as all the riders who are fans of the Californian bikes. With two exciting new models in the line up there is plenty to drool over. The much anticipated new Intense hardtail has finally dropped and I doubt anyone could not love what they did with it. Being a hardtail, there is obviously no VPP trickery going on out back, but the Tazer manages to have those Intense lines that the company is known for. The second new rig was being e-speculated long before anyone outside of Intense had ever seen the bike. The Slopestyle is new from the ground up and looks amazing. All the park rats out there better start saving their allowance!

Twenty6 products needs to be careful otherwise soon they'll be making parts far too pretty to get dirty. Well known for producing some of the most stunning bits and then finishing them off with insane colors, Twenty6 looks to have a new pedal ready to go soon. As if the Rallye pedal wasn't trick enough already, this new model takes it a step further. Their booth was packed too full of people drooling over the goods for me to get any information, so instead I'll just let you look at these beauties and try to figure out some sort of savings plan so you'll have the money ready when they hit the shelves.

DT Swiss EXC 150 carbon enduro fork

If you could ever call a fork sexy, the DT Swiss EXC Enduro carbon fork would have to be the one. Carbon is used for both the lowers and hollow crown while magnesium is used for the dropouts and post brake mount, the EXC 150 weighs in at 1695g! Intended for trail and enduro riding, the EXC fork is available in both 130 mm and 150 mm travel options. This one is on my short list!

DT Swiss EXC 1550 Enduro carbon wheelset

• Unidirectional carbon rim (no cosmetic weave)
• Handmade rim
• 29 mm wide outer width
• Works great with 2.35" - 2.5" AM tires
• Double butted and bladed spokes in white
• DT Pro Lock hexagonal aluminum nipples

DT Swiss Tricon XM 1550 wheelset

DT Swiss mixes things up for 2010 by introducing a completely new prebuilt wheelset called the XM 1550 Tricon. The new wheels use a brand new SBWT welded rim that uses a new proprietary tubeless spoke system. The bladed spokes are actually inserted through the top of the rim and held in place with an aluminum anchor. Once tensioned it is impossible for the anchor to come out. The hubs are made with the same great DT quality, the rear using DT's super simple Star Ratchet system.

  • 1 2
i think this pins will really really hurt xD
  • 2 0
love those DT swiss hub and tubeless rim. This is a great idead they got there. That also means that you don't have to remove the tire anymore when you have a busted spoke, and can just replace right on the spot
  • 2 0
much better than the way the deemax's screw into the rim, i stripped the threads on a few of mine..
  • 7 3
I want those pedals! They look so sick, as does everything else.
  • 1 0
Those pedals are just a little sexy. I guess the new Slopestyle is okay too. I'm not allowing myself to look at Intense as they are wildly expensive and hard to get in Canada.
  • 1 0
Too bad twenty six didn't think about foot geometry when designing those pedals...the cage is too close to where the spindle threads in. This will ensue some bruised ankles and worn crank arms. Hype can only take you so far.
  • 2 0
The hub flange is held in place by set screws! That sounds like a bad idea to me.
  • 1 0
They are bonded and then set with a very precise chamfered set. Rode them on the Pivot and they are super stiff!!!!
  • 1 0
pedals look super sick until its in your leg then gets covered in blood but then you wash them of and then they look sick again
  • 3 0
 I love that Intense slopestyle.
  • 1 0
the general response to the pedals seems to be , look great! but will fecking hurt in an crash! whats better: looks or performane!? yep you got it! buy some 50:50's or v1's!
  • 2 0
I think I like the rallye pedals more than these new twnety6 pedals.
  • 1 0
those pedals are dayumm sexy.. but the spikes are terrifying.. i feel my shins and calves bleeding already :p
  • 1 0
those pins from the pedal are too thin! that will make a hole on my leg if i loose the pedal, and destroy the shoes.
  • 1 0
them pedals look like they'd slice you up more than terror pins lol, apart from that theyre lush as!
  • 1 1
 That slopestyle is crazy sleek,
what forks up front?
new fox for 2010 or what?
It's a single crown, yet llookss longer than a 36,
a 38 maybe?
  • 3 0
It's a 36 Van. The only "new" single crown for 2010 is the 831.
  • 1 0
i wish they had pics of the whole bike, there were only pics of the dropouts and stuff
  • 2 0
them pedals look like sum thing u would hang on a wall
  • 1 0
the spikes on those padals would be deadly on the shoes and the shins... OUCH but sick ass pedals tho
  • 1 1
so the Dt-Swiss EXC 150 weighs a tenth of a pound less than a float 32, and costs almost half of what the dt-swiss does? why would you spend that extra cash on the dt?
  • 1 0
Weight isn't everything on a fork, but every little bit counts. However, I think the newest Fox forks actually weigh LESS than that DT ... seems wrong.
  • 1 0
Yeah, theres no point to buying the DT, they definately dont feel as good as the Fox
  • 1 0
man i could have been warned Razz i just creamed in my pants 6 times. oh seven Frown
  • 1 0
THE PEDALS ARE SICK !! Pimp
  • 2 0

  • 3 1
Shit! Come on! You can't say that if you could afford thier stuff that you wouldn't buy it! Shut up.
  • 3 2
 love the tubeless rim idea
  • 1 0
those pedals.... would rip your legs to bits.
  • 1 0
that "36" van is way more than 165 mm of travel.
  • 1 0
the intense slopestyle looks more like a DH bike than a slopestyle rig
  • 1 1
i bet those pedal would kill you
  • 1 0
 Sexy pedals!
  • 1 0
 nice,
  • 2 4
The new SS is more 951-ish. And its about fakin' time they make a hardtail!
  • 2 0
Theyve been making a hard tail for ages...
  • 2 2
We know. This is a new hardtail.
  • 1 0
Yes, I saw the old Tazer HTs, but they haven't been producing hardtails recently, right? I mean the hardtails Intense makes are probably meant for the pros?
  • 1 0
Theyve been producing hardtails since they last released the old model...They were still available to the public..at some stupid cost like £700 IIRC
  • 1 0
Well I didn't know that, because when you check the Intense website there's no mention of them, all you see are the VPP bikes.
  • 2 0
Yea i know...but they still had the old designed tazer in production... Smile Not having a go at you or anything mate, just saying Smile . And kakah, what sort of useless comment was that? No shit its a "new" hardtail ! When did you become a detective? :eyeroll:
