The iXS Gravity Events for the year 2011

Even though we find ourselves in deepest winter in most parts of the country, in our minds, at least, the coming season is just around the corner. Surely the lazier ones amongst us will say that there is plenty of time, but how close the first races are in reality, is clarified by the race calendar.

The time has come to reveal the dates of the iXS European Downhill Cup. The series will again consist of six races whereby we will not be able to make it to Great Britain, but will instead stage an event in Switzerland. The most prestigious highlight of the season, being the iXS European Championships in the disciplines ‘Downhill’ and ‘Fourcross’ and staged for the first time by iXS sports division, will be held in August. Taking place a week before the World Championships and merely 150 km away means that for the competitors the burden this year is not too heavy. Listed below are the dates:

30.04-01.05.2011 iXS European Downhill Cup #1 Monte Tamaro (SUI)
21-22.05.2011 iXS European Downhill Cup #2 Todtnau (GER)
18-19.06.2011 iXS European Downhill Cup #3 Leogang (AUT)
30-31.07.2011 iXS European Downhill Cup #4 Špičák (CZE)
13-14.08.2011 iXS European Downhill Cup #5 Pila (ITA)
17-18.09.2011 iXS European Downhill Cup #6 Châtel (FRA)
27-28.08.2011 iXS European Championships DHI / 4X Zermatt (SUI)

Another highlight in the gravity disciplines on this year’s program is the iXS Dirt Masters Festival. On the first weekend in June Bikepark Winterberg (GER) once again expects to see 1500 competitors and as many as 30 000 visitors. Aside from the great variety of sporting and musical treats over 150 bike industry labels will be presenting the newest trends.

"...we will not be taking a detour to Great Britain'
Gee thanks guys, way to make us sound like a pain in the arse!

I'm slightly disappointed we don't get a round - It's always good having unfamiliar faces racing in the UK for a change.

Heard of something called the "Fort William world cup"?...
  • 5 0
Because thats totally accessible to the likes of myself and co? I'm talking about racing here, not just spectating.
Besides, the World Cup has a totally different feel the the IXS imo.

its because they would only use the weekend before fort bill wc, but the bds went and booked that weekend instead at glencoe

Ah makes sense. Thanks Christo Wink

yes, the only opportunity for the iXS cup in UK would be the weekend before the WC - and this îs not possible this year. iXS crew makes big efforts to organize a race taking place in UK in 2012..

The work that went into bringing a 2011 round to the UK by both the UK side and IXS organisers was extensive, unfortunately the powers that be, prevented it from happening. Hmmmm!

yes go on to www.ixsdownhillcup.com there are really well run events and for a price you can't argue with and a good atmosphere

gutted they snubbed the uk though how they have typical europeans they can be so rude and trust me i know very well as i live in germany
  • 1 1
Nothing to do with them being rude, a bds race at glencoe was scheduled on the same weekend so they didn't have the ixs at the same time, kind of gutting as the ixs at inners was well liked, and brought a new track to the hill, if only for a week or so.

i was on about europeans being rude in general full stop
  • 1 0
The IXS at Inners was the best track I've rode there! The whole event was quality, none of this pissing about like some of the races I did last year. Straight to the top and everything run on time. I couldn't believe it when I went down at the time I was supposed to, that never happens!

Can anyone enter these races ?
  • 3 0
Dw, further inspection shows you can. Pretty strict regulations though?? All racers must have elbow, back and chest protection?
  • 1 0
Yeah, anyone can enter. There is always a Licence and Non-Licence Category which is really cool - so no messing around with Club Membership or UCI Licences. But as chalky says, they're pretty strict on gear and protectors. I've marshelled Bad Wildbad for the last few Years and we pull Guys out for not wearing Gloves !
  • 2 2
 Wtf? Gloves....? That's retarded.
  • 1 0
