Jarrett Moore and his new 2011 Rocky Mountain Flow

Jarrett Moore is Rocky Mountain's newest addition to the Freeride team, for the 2010 season Jarrett will be riding along side Geoff Gulevich and Dave Smutok. I recently had the opportunity to talk to Jarrett about his new bike, Rocky, and life in general, as well as taking some photos of the new whip.

Pics, words and video inside,

-Let's start with the basics, who are you?
Jarrett Moore, I am 21 years old from Victoria, British Columbia, Canada.

-How Long Have you been riding for ?
I started riding down stairs when I was 4 years old, but got my first mountain bike when I was 12. So I guess I have been riding mountain bikes for the last 9 years.

-What got you into riding?
There is a suite in our house and one of the tenants was really into riding, so I guess he did. There were also some local dirt jumps very close by and an old riding spot called the dog park right behind my house which made riding easy. All my friends started riding as well, I guess it was the cool thing to do!

-How was the 2009 season, any big highlights for you?
The 2009 season was a lot of fun. I would say the What's Next Premier in Whistler was a huge highlight. I was on cloud nine that whole night. Goatstyle was also a lot of fun, riding under lights during Friday Night Lights was a super cool experience.

-Any Goals for this season?
Stay healthy and have fun.

-What inspires you to keep riding everyday?
That's a hard question to answer. I would say my inspiration changes all the time, but right now it's definitely trying to keep a leash on my buddy Wink Grant. He is killing mountain bikes right now and someone has to keep him in line haha.

-Dirt Jumps, or getting out on the mountain?
Why not both! Mountains in the morning and dirt jumps in the afternoon. I am on a mountain kick right now though, the trails on the island are prime this time of year.

- Any upcoming Island talent people should keep an eye out for.
Wink Grant and Luke Fulton

-What's currently getting a lot of play on your Ipod
Blakroc, their whole album is awesome. There are also a bunch of pop songs that I will leave out the specifics on...

-Any shout outs?
Rocky Mountain Bikes, Lavan Apparel, Nike 6.0 and Race Face Components!

Scott Seco, a Victoria based film maker, was also there taking some footage of Jarrett:

What's New About the Frame?
There are four main changes to the new frame. Personally, I am a big fan of having a lower front and that's one of the major changes to the 2011 Flow frame . Here are the four changes, straight from Alex Cogger at Rocky Mountain Bikes.

1.) Tapered head tube, for internal 1-1/8 lower race. Benefit: lower stack, stronger front end.

2.) New Geo (sloping TT). Benefit: greater stand over, more room for moves over the TT, cables out of the way.

3.) Seat stay / top tube / seat tube junction redone. Benefit: stronger, much stiffer laterally for off axis landings

4.) New seat tube and chain stay. Benefit: beefy chain stay for stiffness, smaller seat stay for some shock absorption.

Good Luck to Jarrett in to 2010 season!

I could not agree more. Why is it they're allways expecting people to like big names or shiny colours all over?

2 questions: 1, How tall is Jarrett? 2, What size of frame is that?

Thoughs are massive bars. If he's 6 foot(ish), I'm doing that to my bike.

Nice ride. Still think 785 on a hard tail is a bit bonkers - Trust me I tried it and the amount if pulls you over the front is not good for your health!
  • 2 1
sorry proba;;y missing the obvious but what is the 785??
  • 4 1
 785mm bars
  • 3 1
I tend to agree with you on that point, for most people anyways, but being 6'4" I fit them haha.
  • 2 0
Yeah fair enough. I met a guy last summer riding with them fine but he was massive also. Just quite funny when you see tiny guys like 5'5 running full width atlas..
  • 2 0
I really don't see the point. I've got a hardtail, I am on Dirty30s and everything is perfectly fine.
  • 2 0
Its just preference at the end of the day. Im now running 745 on the hardtail and that seems fine now.
