 #1 rule of Helidrops?
When a friend invites you on a drop you don't ask how much $, you only answer with a 'yes! When?'.
  • 24 0
This is why these dudes started Pinkbike. It was all done so one day they could get a free heli ride. Well worth it if you ask me.

I wonder what I need to do to get one...

@paul-bee: start an mtb website Smile

@paul-bee: or just call whistler heli and get 8 friends together to chip in. When you inform them of said heli drop remind them of my #1 rule (see above).
  • 6 0
@Tmackstab: @paul-bee he might be on to something.

Thank you so much Pinkbike for the hospitality and the super fun day of riding, hanging, and 'other stuff'!

P.S. This is a heli drop ride is a MUST DO in Whistler, the bike park is unreal as always, but this was an even better experience.

@troyleedesigns: Thanks! It was a real pleasure having you guys, and we're stoked you had a great day up there.

Thanks Pinkbike! A day we'll never forget, that's for sure.

Right on, @pinkbike! Thanks for the lift up the mountain!

 Tippie, you ever slow down????

Did this one last year. So worth it! Pretty much the same photo spot flic.kr/p/ycPAqN Sadly the weather wasn't in our favor this year when we were up there otherwise I'd have done it again in a heartbeat.

I wonder what one ride up in one of those costs....
  • 10 0
Did this exact heli drop about 8 years ago. Cost was $125 per person.
  • 4 0
A lot of factors determine price on these drops. Distance/elevation, time and how many people are part of the drop.
Its usually in the $200-$400/pp range in my experience.
  • 4 0
Mt Cartier in Revelstoke is $345 for a drop, according to the website.

Seems worth it to me.

Hey @briceps, this one is $125 /pp if you fill a helicopter with 5 people.

With our new bike racks, it's just one trip up, and your bike is strapped to the side of the helicopter flying with you.

We do another drop in Pemberton which is $220/pp, and is more of a full day mixed ride, with a HUGE descent of 6,350 feet

Give us a shout and we can hook it up!
  • 3 0
That is a LOT more reasonable than I was expecting!
  • 2 0
@BlackcombHelicopters: That's not bad at all! I'll definitely give you guys a shout next time I'm in Whistler.

I dream of Whistler every night. I live in PA. I don't dream about women or food. I dream about riding incredible trails. This ride is definitely the stuff of dreams. I have a good riding buddy who has to go to Vancouver twice a year for a week on business and he's never been to Whistler!!! He's always in a hurry to get home. Personally I think he's got a small screw loose somewhere.
  • 1 0
I would say a pretty big screw, lol

@radek @pinkbike Now, THAT was a "Team building" as we call it here in Croatia. Tequila tonight, tomorrow we ride !! Smile ... Thanx for all good vibes from early days until now. Ride on and don't forget to reCycle ! Smile

WTF?! Radek rides bicycles too?! Dude is an animal on an ADV moto.
  • 10 0
You bet. Bikes first, moto second.
  • 2 0
@radek: radek did the BC bike race too!!
  • 3 0
awesome looks like a blast! ....anyone know if theres an up trail/road to make it possible to pedal to the top?
  • 1 0
Not all the way to the top (definitely no road) that I'm aware of but we did this 10 years ago so... who knows, haha. If anyone has the chance to do this, its well worth it. Its absolutely some of the best riding you'll do and there are a few side attractions to ride keeping the whole experience for well over a couple of hours. The heli ride up is pretty intense also.
  • 1 0
You can, but it be epically painfull pushing up...then again whistler local Jesse did it...https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=-PwYtlq_K2s

 @chantalfelten: I'm going in less than a week...f*ck it???
  • 3 0
I hiked with my bike to where the got dropped last summer and it took me 3 hours to get up from end of the trail and 20 mins down
  • 2 0
 @chantalfelten:

nice, so after you run out of pedalable trail do you just start pushing up the main rainbow mountain trail to the top?? thnx!! ...125$ for a heli ride seems very reasonable as well Smile
  • 1 0
It is a easy hike a bike to the top. One that will keep you preoccupied with the amazing scenery and blueberries if you go now.
  • 1 0
@whatyousaid: yep that's what I would opt for too...pushing up jaws for the flank looks to be epically painful
  • 1 0
I'm trying to organize a heli ride, if anyone is interested from next tuesday to sunday, PM me!

Was the Marmot sat on his rock shouting at you all?
Done that drop 3 times and there's always been a marmot 'shouting' at us sat on the rocks by that slope to the alpine lake.

By far the most effective way to boost your CO2-foodprint. A must for every bike enthusiast.

Did the heli drop in 2014 with Mr. Schley Big Grin was one of my best experiences so far, thank you guys for doing something so cool.

My one dying wish is to do this
