Thanks to the creativity and freedom of
Brad Stuart, head builder at the
Bike Ranch, Kamloops is home to one of the most progressive and quality city owned bike parks. He has built numerous features with skills progression to challenge the compete newbie to the seasoned rider.
Everyone will spend the weekend working with a small crew of riders with similar skill levels and like-minded goals. Along with solidifying or refining gravity basics, specialty programming like race techniques or advanced air will be covered.
New to biking? Don't be intimidated; we've got you covered. Our 1:5 coach to rider ratio ensures you will get the best possible opportunity to start your bike journey off right.
Our weekend will start on Friday night at 6pm at the
Bike Cafe, where we'll go over everything from ideal bike set up to understanding SAG. (If you don't know what that is ... it's almost reason enough to come to camp!) Suspension set up it key and the staff at the Bike Cafe have been trained by
FOX Racing Shox to set you up right. Topics like bar width, cleat placement and wheel-size also seem to come up.
Cheryl and her crew know what's up. Her shop is conveniently located near the base of the Bike Ranch and is stocked with quality staff and gear. DO come with your bike freshly tuned, but know the cafe is just around the corner to fill any weekend needs. They will be offering a camp special including deals on some of the new season’s goods.
If you're needing new gear and can't wait until camp,
dirtyjane.com is offering everyone a 15% pre and post camp discount code with registration. If you don't know about
The Jane's or their solid collection of retail bike goods, check them out!
Each morning we'll head to the top of the Ranch for a quick warm up and ride the bike park all day.
Mostly Mental Shuttles will provide our lifts and the van will be stocked with
CLIF nutrition to ensure each lap is as solid as the last. We'll have a bunch of camp extras along with some goodies from
Race Face,
Specialized Canada and
Five Ten. It's going to be good.
Need a place to stay?
Accent Inns and their
Bike Love Program is one of the best bike-friendly hotel chains in BC.
If you haven't experienced a visit at one of Accent Inns 5 locations, expect you and your bike to feel right at home. Not only do they encourage you to take your bike in your room, but they also provide a bike wash station complete with a stocked Park Tool kit. They call it "a Spa for your Bike" and I agree.
They're offering a standard room, 2 queen beds for $92 (single occupancy) per night stay and have included a complimentary kitchenette room upgrade until all the rooms are gone. For reservation information, call 1.800.663.0298 and quote group 46632 for the “Ranch Camp".
If you want to come to camp but live far away, Kamloops Airport - YKA can help bring you there. Check
Google Flights to see what airlines will work best. (Google's powerful search engine sometimes gives me better flight options than the airlines direct!) Contact Mostly Mental or Lorraine to see about airport pick up and delivery to Accent Inns.
