Resurrect the Kelowna Bike Club-
The former Kelowna Mountain Bike Club is being re-launched this year after a period of inactivity. This club will be a key part of any long term strategy to keep mountain biking a viable activity in the region. As a link between the interests of the riders in the area and several levels of local, regional, and provincial government, this club will seek to promote, protect and preserve the world class trails and resources in the Central Okanagan region.
When:
Wednesday, February 6th, 2008
7 PM to 10 PM
Where:
Kinsmen Fieldhouse, Mission Sports Complex
3975 Gordon Drive, Kelowna at the corner of Gordon and Lexington
Who:
Anyone interested in the development of the local mountain biking scene is welcome to attend.
We are recruiting members who:
-participate in and enjoy the sport of mountain biking
-who ride in any discipline that involves a bike and dirt
-want to become actively involved in the running of a club
-are interested in organizing events like club rides, and trail maintenance days
-are familiar with land use issues and local governments
-have experience in running registered charities
-have an interest in the preservation of land and the maintenance of trails for biking
The main purpose of this group is stewardship of the lands that we play in. We have an opportunity to make our sport a home that we may never see again. Every level of government in positively in our favor of this activity, but they all agree that we must be able to manage it ourselves. This is our chance.
This first meeting will establish our club name, elect a club executive, and identify goals for our future. Oh, and there will be some door prizes and good times too.
Contact deakin777@shaw.ca for more information. Regular club dialogue is accessible using the following web link:

Lookin forward to getting the 08 ball rolling, see ya at the meeting.
hmmmmm... I hope enough Freeride/DH riders show up to prevent this from turning into a XC club again.
Considering that the whole shebang is the vision of a few DH/FR renegades, I think we'll be cool with the whole thing. In fact, maybe the XC crew are worried that the dirtbags are going to run the show. It'll be all about who is up for doing things, not talking the talk. I want to see walkers, not talkers.
I'm Australian but moved to K town to ride last summer
Mind if I join in the fun? don't know how much longer I'm staying in town though . . . a few months still
