For everyone complaining, go support your local bike shop next time. I'm not sure when blu-ray became available, but the dvd's have been available from qbp (and probably every other large distributor used in shops, bti etc.) for a long time now. I wish I could say without a doubt, but it seems at least a month if not more, if I remember right. So even if the shop doesn't have it, ask them to special order it for you, they will probably order a bunch more at the same time (because of your reminder/excitement for the new flick), so you'd be helping out your whole community...

Watched Lifecycles for the first time yesterday after waiting for this Blu-ray awesomeness to appear and then I missed the shipping and went on holiday BUT YES finally watched it!!

AANNNDDDD

Biggest let down ever!!!
The arty stuff was great but it got really annoying after it took about 10 mins to start the film and the riding was good but such a little amount of it that it got frustrating. The other annoying thing is that you have some cool biking and then interrupted by yet another pointless arty shot of a tractor or something else just as stupid!

I hate to say it but if you are considering buying it don't bother as its a let down they have tried to do too much in one film.

Watched it on a 40" HD Sony Bravia and the quality is insane, its just the content Frown
  • + 3
shame mine hasn't arrived.. and Bundlee, please, leave the building...
  • + 1
I dont know, CRC said it would arrive on like the 13th at the earliest.
  • + 0
Well that is my opinion of it and I believe that for people who have WATCHED it their comments more or less line up to what I have said. I am letting people know that maybe for the price go by something else.

Also thanks again gee for the appropriate comment and not resorting to a stupid childish comments like "Please, leave the building" as that would make you look like a complete tool.........Oh wait you did!
  • + 0
You resorted to a childish comment when you said Life cycles was a HUGE let down.
  • + 1
Did you hit your head recently or could I count your IQ on one hand?

"its a huge let down" is not a childish comment and if your so offended by that could you please tell me the technical name for let down
  • + 1
you quite obviously don't recognise cinematic brilliance when it hits you in the face.
  • + 0
What I do recognise is the lack of cycling!

Also its not cinematic brilliance its just over the top! I could deal with arty stuff like they do know in all the modern dvd's but this is toooooo much! Have you even seen it?
  • + 2
what "arty" stuff is displayed in life cycles rivals? Life cycles is un-comparable to any other bike film out there, it's in a league of it's own.

Yes, I own the blu-ray and I've seen it at a cinema.
  • + 0
When they show a harvester cutting grain!!! thats arty stuff which is non-essential! ok it adds to the "story" but showing it like 10 different times is bloody pointless
  • + 2
were you watching it whilst drinking some tinnys and a kebab by any chance?
  • + 1
Well it finally came and all I can say is wow! I think it was one of the best things I have ever watched! The camera work is just unbelievable
  • + 0
OH my days! Look the film is artistically very good, However it is too over the top and does not show enough biking and is nothing ground braking. Personally I think many of the VOD's are fair superior to that film
  • + 1
Nothing is ground breaking!? What about shooting a section at night using flood lights and light sheets, don't think that's ever been done before, and the camera quality is just off the scale. Your just an idiot
  • - 1
You are literally the biggest tool the internet has ever come across! The film is nothing special. Night shooting has been done before and camera quality is good but can go jump off a bridge if the content is gash! e.g. The godfather picture quality, nothing special yet probably one of the best films ever made. Yet again you are a tool
  • + 2
 WTF are you on about

"the film is nothing special"

are you high?
  • + 0
Do you know what, I'm on any sort of mind altering substance! My opinion of this film is that it was not worth the hype and basically would advise people that it was not worth them buying it This is MY OPINION and I don't care what any of you think as I know a lot of people still agree with me. So I'm now getting bored of writing on this bloody page and have resorted to minimum insults bar the post above unlike your uneducated single minded self, so please get off my back about this and jog on
  • + 1
haha yes I'm so uneducated, and your being a bit hypocritical calling me single minded when your saying it's nothing special and it's not worth the purchase.
  • + 1
I'm giving an opinion showing that I have thought about the pro's and con's not just followed the marketing hype and loving whatever bull gets put out their! Look I know that in this life I'm allowed an opinion and your not at all allowing me to express my opinion of what I think of this film,. I agree that your opinion can differ but the point is your arguing when this should be a discussion about the film and it is this which makes you singled minded and un-educated. So as I have said MY opinion of the film is well known, Yours is different and that's fine, however, you have gone about it like an absolute douche and made your self look like a tool yet again! PS I bet your proud of your self for negin my posts! Its not at all pathetic!
  • + 1
I watched Life Cycles on a friends computer and was simply blown away!
I cant believe that anyone that loves our sport cannot love this film!
although everyone's opinion can differ, this film is one of those epic landmarks, as was Seasons, and I'm amazed that it has got any sort of negative props.
after seeing the film I had to go out and buy it, and have since lent it to many friends (not all mtb'ers either) and they in turn have bought it, so for anyone who read Budlees post, trust me you should watch it, the proof is in the puddingWink

I recently watched the I-Tunes download in "HD" and its a 700 MB file, the PQ was not particularly good especially the blacks which were murky and colours were not crisp (I am using a 23" widescreen Full HD monitor on my PC)

is this I-Tunes HD download 720i? (from my experience a 1080P file of this size would be 1.5Gig?

the movie itself is fantastic and a huge credit to the film makers!!

but I can't wait to watch my Blu-Ray copy to see it in proper HD 1080 progressive on my big screen home cinema and really enjoy the rich pallette of the cinematography
  • + 2
the i tunes HD file is 1.4 gigs. the regular version is 500 megs.
  • + 1
Hi, how do you find it on iTunes? I don't use it much lol
  • + 2
epic09: It isn't on the aussie itunes and i highly doubt it ever will. Australia has some crap licensing laws or something. Follow me was also ment to be on the aussie itunes but they were never able to get it up on there.
  • + 1
I really envy anyone with a bluray player, giant tv and surround sound.. the soundtrack can't be justified without a quality speaker system. there's so much detail to the entire movie. really an outstanding film
  • + 1
Panasonic TC-P50 THX Plasma, Yamaha HTR-6290 AVR, Polk Audio RM20 7 speakers, SVS NS-10D sub to enjoy my bluray copy once it arrives!

iTunes only provides HD content in 720p (720i is almost never used), but from my experience on the Apple TV with Life Cycles the compression quality for the 720p version of it is top notch.

Just got mine in the mail today. Yeah the wait sucked but sometimes in life the best things are worth the wait, this is certainly one of them.
I am sick of all the fast, no attention span, gigantic 1080 superflip blah blah blah movies. Its all the same crap... Finally a beautifully made bike movie that is simply about the beauty of the bicycle, what it allows us to do, and the places it allows us to go. For me it simply isnt about going as big or as fast as I can go, its about the beauty. There is nothing like waking up ontop of a mountain somewhere, and watching the sunrise, THEN getting on your bike for a great day of riding with some good friends.

Great video guys, definately up that with my Collective favourites!!!
To all the people who dont like it because it isnt a true "bike" movie, dont worry you will grow up one day.

Now back to the movie, I am only half way through!!

Extra thanks PB crew for working overtime to get this out to the people, especially at this busy time of year! No thanks to Lifecycles for hyping up pre-orders, being 2 months late in delivery and leaving a lot of people in the dark about what was going on. I understand the duplication issues, but having contingencies is part of the production business. The fact that these went on pre-order months ago, only to have people buying at their LBS before the online buyers, is a real let down to people who pre-ordered. Regardless of your argument, Lifecycles has without a doubt generated more questions and negative comments about what is happening than any other bike film I can think of.
  • + 1
You say you understand the issues they faced, but at the same time sit there crying about it. I think somebody is a little conflicted. And you act like the guys behind the film didn't do anything to get the film out to people. Please, you're a hypocrite.
  • + 1
I don't think it's hypocritical at all to have a criticism of how business was handled. Yes, there were duplication issues. No it wasn't handled as well as it could have been. Pretty straight forward and I'm pretty clear on how I feel, thanks. Just because I have a valid comment that criticizes a point of business, hardly constitutes "crying" about something.

For the record, I have seen the film at a premiere, and liked it. Was it over-hyped? Yeah, somewhat. But I give them credit for trying some new approaches and obviously putting their hearts into making it fit their vision. Good film - I'm just less stoked about getting my BR copy now that's its been 2 months of waiting.
  • + 1
It is hypocritical. You praise pinkbike for getting the discs to the customers despite a delay that was out of their hands. Then you criticize the makers of the film for getting the discs to the customers despite a delay that was out of their hands. And you have NO IDEA if it was handled as well as it could have been. Were you in contact with the disc makers? Did you have every bit of information about the situation, were you the one working on the solutions? No, no, and no.

You're upset, and you're making stupid assumptions.
  • + 1
Haha, 'upset'... man, that IS hilarious. Look, I'm not going to argue with an internet know-it-all, it's futile. I'm sure you'll have the last word here, have fun!
  • + 1
*Don't reply to the points made that prove you're making stupid assumptions* *use a cheap cop out instead* *use ad hominem* Oh it's been a metric TON of fun for me. Thanks for admitting what I said was true.

Didn't received my copy ..... and i'm in canada too... That's very frustating that they sold them on ebay for 30 $ free shipping since 1 week and I pre-ordered it for 10 $ more and didn't received it . Pre order .... yeah .... nevermore ...

This video = meh. Amazing cinematography, if not the best I've ever watched in a bike vid, but as far as a video that gets you hyped to go ride, eeeehhhhh, NWD10 ftw.
  • + 0
Please make a better video to get us hyped.... Till then shut the fuck up.
  • + 1
You are such an idiot. I guess criticism should only be made by those who produce high end vids. So, in that regard, every comment you've made on things is moot. Douchebag.

please tell me that you are still rushing to ship these dvds out. i ordered a shirt 2 weeks ago. mind you its one of the old ones not from the contest. no one has said anything since then. no email that reads "apologies, this may take a while" or here's your tracking number. i know i shouldn't really complain, but would like some customer service. sent an email like 4 days ago, no reply, sent a different email to different address 2 days ago, no reply. is my shirt sent? or am i just giving pinkbike 25 bucks to shove into their wallets?

as for the life cycles shipping catastrophe i downloaded from itunes and it was f*ckin epic. best movie about mountain biking yet.

I enjoyed this movie but it doesn't stoke me out to go ride. I recall someone mentioned it's like the BBC series earth. I concur.
  • + 3
its a fair point, but I don't watch bike films to get stoked and want to go riding Wink

I go riding when I feel like riding, and watch film "movies" in the evening, after riding, which does not generally include bike movies

I have not enjoyed many recent bike movies as they have been boring with endless huckfests and flippy-whippy tricks, the Collective's "Seasons" is the only film I've enjoyed for some time

LifeCycles is very different and shows a different side of bike riding that feels much closer to the reasons I have ridden bikes for going on 30+ years
  • + 1
I hear ya! I still haven't been able to find seasons anywhere. Would love to get it in bluray if it exists.
  • + 1
and whats wrong with BBC's Earth, that was a great documentary!

i think that we (who have pre-ordered) should get some kind of compensation, ie pinkbike sticker packs etc... I think that would be nice considering how long they have made us wait.
  • + 13
Some things are out of everyone's hands and in this case it was DVD replication issues. We've all worked really hard to get these out and alongside the Life Cycles' crew, we appreciate all the support from riders everywhere.
  • - 1
They should also release them as HD downloads like in the climbing world. Sender Films does an excellent job of this.
  • + 7
It's available on Itunes in HD
  • + 2
i downloaded it in HD from Itunes on the 6th, its been out for a while.
  • + 4
No director's commentary, behind the scenes or Surround sound on iTunes though....
  • + 10
Your "compensation" is an awesome movie. Personally I applaud the makers for waiting until it was right to send it and not rushing out a sub-standard product. When you watch this, you will see how detail oriented these guys are and appreciate how they couldn't send it out any way other than perfect.
Oh, and for those people downloading it and missing out on the behind the scenes - you will regret it! The behind the scenes stuff impressed me at least as much as the movie did and makes you appreciate the film all the more.
  • + 3
Except us "downloading" it wanted to see the movie... so we got it off itunes for a cheaper price instead of waiting. I know for myself I can live happily without seeing the extra stuff that the dvd comes with. Im sure sometime down the road once all this hype has calmed down and I've worn out the downloaded version, I will purchase the dvd and get in on this action you speak of.

 @camas

i would, by my local lbs has stopped carrying mtb dvd's. ghey, i know.

@brule

i understand that now. after we have had to dig for answers. if lifecycles had just been straight up from the beginning and came forward with the issues, i believe that people would have been a lot more understanding.
  • + 4
Pretty sure I read an article on PB a while back explaining the issues with the DVD replication. I'm pretty sure that would have counted as being "straight up".
  • + 4
They have posted 2-3 articles here on the main page. They could have said nothing, but they did go above and beyond. The only thing better is if they'd been able to email everyone - that is actually an impossible task and logistic nightmare. Enjoy the video as they put their lives into it. If it was mid summer, most folks wouldn't even notice the delay, but it's winter and we're all jonesing.
