Barel takes the win. What a comeback!! Based on that unexpected result did anyone win the alpinestars EWS fantasy contest?
  • 10 0
3 or 4 people guessed correctly. Sadly I wasn't one of them. Stoked for Barel regardless.

 @ Wayne
Nope, just few seconds
  • 3 0
I guessed right.... No word yet. Crossing my fingers

I see your guess came in 11 hours ago though, looks after the deadline to me, but good luck anyway.

Yea this was very unexpected and apparently the ones who guessed correctly did so after the race had already begun. So sick to see Fabien and ACC on top. I can't wait to see the coverage.

Right? Barel's win is the feel good story of this season for me. Super impressed with his performance. ACC I kind of expected as she has out ridden T-Mo for the last several races with a bit of bad luck sinking her overall hopes. I really think she was deserving of the title this year. That said, riding clean enough to avoid the mechanicals is a big part of the consistency needed to win the EWS.

Awesome comeback for Matti Lehikonen as well. It was his first race in a while.
  • 5 0
No one is going to mention Clementz getting 4th on his comeback.....
Curtis Keene got beat by Minnaar and Nico Vouilloz, Matti, and Peaty on his heels. They are all an incredibly talented group but damn, Curtis has a lot of explaining to do, Red Bull wants to know why he's not On Track?!

7 frenchs in top 10, is it their national sport or something?
  • 8 1
haha, yeah it seems so. The big joke is about italians...only one in top 20...

There is a big enduro mouvements those last years in france, this explain the number of french in the top. Add the fac, it's not so far from france....
  • 2 0
Pretty sure Fab, Damien and Jey on every podium next year ! It's going to be pretty hard for the other guys, good battles incoming !!
  • 3 0
At master man the Italians got you ;-)

I don't want to sound like a dick, but it has taken you a long time to upload the results (the same happened with Rampage). I ended looking them up on vitalmtb... Looking forward to the amazing pictures you usually surprise us with Wink

P.D. no words to describe what Fabien has done :O

Wow, what a comeback for Barel! And Graves, "riding conservatively" and getting second!
  • 1 1
Graves' taking it easy means, decimating the field. I can't imagine what would be if he would've been serious.

Barel is the spirit of enduro!

No news on Rude? Epic fail on the part of PB mtb journalism when we have to go to the comments to figure it out, especially when he was headed for a podium and the only top US rider?

in the top 20 ...11 are FRA riders.... ok, nothing new....but think once again about it. trails have been discoverd few days before the race.... They have same Alps and typic Riviera trails like italians... Chapeau to the french school...able to create talents and talents endless

Damn! Talk about a surprise! Nice job from the Master. And to think that he had broken his back earlier this year. Also congrats to Gravy on getting the overall!! Another amazing season of EWS over.

What's the deal with Karim Amour? I thought there were alleged reasons he was unable to compete in EMS events? There was a big fuss about alleged infringements and zero tolerance.

Anyone know the facts?
  • 1 0
Well, officialy we don't know if it was him... In the case it was him, he served his sentence. And I think he's definitly not going to do it again
  • 2 0
 that was two years ago.
Guys, don't be silly, people make mistake, but when they have served their sentence, you can try to forgive , right?
  • 3 0
It is very strange that the cheater is not officially named after getting caught... and of course we can and maybe even will forgive, but using doping doesn't only give you advantage in racing but also on training. If you can train harder, you will get stronger also.
  • 1 0
road cycling is full of doping discussion. but ya don't read too much about it in mtb these days. sort of a shock to see it on PB....
  • 1 1
no, i cannot forgive somebody cheating in a sport where its already hard enough to get a contract. i am sure that guy only learnt his lesson because they caught him. if he learnt it...
  • 3 1
Lets be clear, I don't like karim amour : not because of this story but because of his insulting attitude toward amateur riders slower than him.
My point is he used a BANNED substance not a DOPING substance.
It wasn't EPO, it wasn't a steroid, it wasn't amphetamine (like JS7) etc. It was a diuretic. I don't know in what it help him to be "better" but it s simply possible that he had a disease which required to take this drug.
If you're suffering from a inflamatory disease, and if you take corticostéroid, you will be positif to banned substance. Even if that wasn't your goal.
  • 1 0
ahhh okay. to be honest, i didnt know him before and i simply assumed it was some performance enhancing drug after reading some articles. if it was actually "just" a diuretic my reaction was not appropriate.
where have you read what it actually was? and after all i havent even found an article saying it was him. only some evidence for it.

@blablaup123 Read the link that NotDannyHart posted
"Results established by the Analysis department of the Agency December 20, 2011 have highlighted the presence hydrochlorothiazide"

In fact, "nobody" can say that is him (exept officials), as he was not officialy named. But on french forum, there has been a lot of discussion and search about it, and every data were leading to the conclusion it was K.A.
