Air Biking and Ice Surfing

An EZO day out to The LG London Freeze Snowboard and music festival featuring the Animal bike show with Sam Pilgrim and Martyn Ashton.
I’ve never seen a mint Aero eaten like a Mars bar – one of the very many things I visually encountered in a recent EZO day out to London Freeze snowboard and music festival. Tom, Scott and myself departed the sunshine coast around 9:30AM. I was already soaking wet due to some misplaced footsteps in my run through the puddle maze in the station car park.
Complete story inside,
I’ve never seen a mint Aero eaten like a Mars bar – one of the very many things I visually encountered in a recent EZO day out to London Freeze snowboard and music festival. Tom, Scott and myself departed the sunshine coast around 9:30AM. I was already soaking wet due to some misplaced footsteps in my run through the puddle maze in the station car park.
Complete story inside,
Ticket, £1.39 bottle of water and a Sun, we boarded the train. I proceeded to give a running commentary of my browse through the Sun TV guide (suddenly I have this overwhelming desire to go online to spend money on ceremonial tomahawk necklaces and buy a fine bone china plate with a wolf's face on it – Lord only knows where that urge could have come from).
Right, so – we slipped off of one train and forced ourselves tightly into another empty vessel bound for Battersea, 6 mins… Already at Battersea and at that very moment we realized we hadn’t purchased tickets to Battersea, so with difficult but precise movements we got past the alert but bored train station security ironically named ‘Top Flight Security incorporating Dagger Patrol’ ! PAH URGH! What a retarded choice of business names. Sorry but they really are crap, aren’t they?
Then it was a long arduous walk to our next stop which was the press office so we could pick up them golden (fluo orange actually) media bracelets, which would allow us and our delirium capture devices through the love gate and into the shadow of an eerie looking old power station! We were early, so we made use of this time by walking around like a bunch of herons. Once we got bored of heron impersonation we hit the press tent and put our names down for access to the huge mega ramp that the ice boarders would be sliding down in the near future. (We didn’t make it up the ramp BTW).
After a short walk about it was suddenly 2pm and things were kicking off hard time, the top flight ice boarders were doing tricks I’ve never even thought of, most included revolving around 64 times in an orbicular motion. Impressive and confusing if you're like me, you know very little about ice surfing aka snowboarding.
I tripped over near the Jaegermesiter truck and £9 fell out of my pocket and flew directly at a member of the bar staff, who incidentally had just poured 3 shots. He threw the drinks in the air and went to save the flying money, he missed but luckily it went directly into the open till, just as Tom and Scott picked me up the Jaegermeister from the 3 airborne shots literally fell into our mouths, Popeye spinach style! Unbelievable really, you couldn’t have dreamed that scenario up! Naturally we had to drink it, couldn’t spit it out – health and safety ‘n’ all that.
After a few more beer related accidents we went to say hello to the guys at the Animal bike tour; Sam Pilgrim, Martyn Ashton, James Thorne and the main man Robin Kitchin. Sam had busted his tooth off at the hinge and was looking a little steptoe and son and James was noising the gathered crowd up real good.
This was the tour's last stop so they were really pushing it out, HARD, actually forcing it through a mesh into perfect manageable chunks of death defying spectacular-ness, they really do put the work in though. It takes a hell of a lot of effort to perform on demand and the show is flawless, Animal Bike Tour we salute you.
