If that doesn't make you want to go ride a bike I don't know what will.

YEAH SURRN ... Going to be moving to within two hours of this place in around 10 weeks!!

I feel like every different type of riding is getting more extreme. xc is changing into enduro, enduro is changing into downhill, and who knows what downhill is going to be

I've noticed as most of you have as well, that Pinkbike is including more XC stuff on their page, either videos, articles, or covering XC events (ie WC XC).

I personally think they are doing it to attract a wider audience, maybe the XC market is much larger than DH/FR/AM and they want to attract more viewers.

What do you think?

I think you'll find XC/Trail bikes outsell all the 'bigger' bikes combined.
  • 5 0
I think you're correct. Business is business and XC is more business then the other disciplines.

also, some folks here are multi disciplined meaning they do XC and DH. my buddies (myself included) has an AM bike for XC and a DH bike for the gnarly stuff. hate to say this, i even have a road bike for training purposes as i used to compete in XC races back in the day, haha.

it's something that cannot be avoided on a website that describes itself as mtb - related. xc and trail bikes are cheaper , more accesible and you don't really need to do too much terrain work to ride those bikes. Some of the die hard gravity riders that go like " oh no, pb, what's with all this xc, stahp , hurr durr " don't seem to understand that mtb world is more than just gravity, a lot more.

I'll cancel my account when Pinkbike starts cyclocross coverage.

When I was doing DH I would be stoked to see all the DH vids, new bits and interviews on PB....now im mid 40's and do my once a week trail ride with the crew so I can relate to the "XC" stuff now and I like to see a good pilot on a nice trail bike blitzing a climb or nice single track.....just leave the lycra out please.

I still love to see some good big bike action and look forward to seeing the new stuff and how far bikes have come but as I have got older I can appreciate a nice view and good company on a trail.....I could watch anything on two wheels and cranks all day but having a video I can relate to is cool.

The specialised epic is the best selling bike for the company in the US, road included, so it would makes sense that the market is bigger.

Really? I thought the Tarmac would be the best seller they have.Yep the XC/trail market is huge and getting bigger.I think the next 5 years are gonna be awesome for development of bikes in the genre......cant wait

XC has and will always have a bigger crowd then the rest of the MTB scene. It's easier to learn, you break less bones, bikes are cheaper, or at least the entry level ones, there's waaay more XC trails around the globe, it's provably the only MTB orientation in the olympics, and the list goes on and on. So not including it would be like covering the sun with a hand and pretending it's not there..... I bet everyone in here started through XC, owned an XC bike once, or still has an XC bike with them..

Trail or Enduro are XC. Yes riding a super suspension no limit DH bike can be fun on the right trail, it isn't what the everyday rider is doing. XC with less than 160mm is what's for sale at every shop in town. XC bikes are the bike that brings freedom to its riders. You ride out of the garage and by the end of the drive way the riding has startedSmile

Agree with all the above responses but another aspect that hasn't been mentioned is that xc has changed allot for the better over the last few years. The olympics in london made me a fan again, like it or not xc is badass again! It still has some room for improvement though, if they keep making courses as tough and technical as they are 120mm bikes with slacker ha and shorter cs will become the norm and hopefully... HOPEFULLY they might all stop wearing lycra!

As long as it looks fun to watch and ride, gimme whatever discipline you want.

I rarely come to Pinkbike as I'm bored with the AM nature of it that most mortal riders will never ride. If they had a more balanced reporting content with more XC/trail riding that most riders can relate to I'll visit the site more often.

they will not stop wearing lycra because lycra is not a fashion statement , but a necessity and a performance factor . I have a feeling that, if it was still legal gravity riders would stretch that lycra on them like there was no tomorrow. And btw, if Fumic and Fontana wear baggy apparel it doesn't mean that they are onto something. It was a stupid argument 10 years ago, 5 years ago and keeps being stupid and pointless to this day.

Geezes...that's a beautiful trail. I ride XC local trails, but hitting more jumps, and drops and let loose on the turns/small berms. Most riders out in Southern Cali DO NOT wear lycra, doesn't bother me if they do or not tho. Alot of us ride the same trail but our riding style are different.

This should be 3 hours long so that you can have it on in the background, chill out & watch it a bit every time you enter the room it is playing in. Nice film.

Very nice video. Nothing flashy just biking.

Lovely, scenic trail is what every xc ride should be. Majestic music is mandatory to keep viewers interested in watching xc video. (And I'm an XC/trail rider who's still bored with watching most of them.)

Beautiful place indeed. Thanks for the video, now I want to ride.

I wish i knew a girl who could shred xc with me..
  • 13 1
step 1 - Girlfriend step 2 - Get her into mountain biking step 3 - Fight a whole lot step 4 - breakup step 5 - wait step 6 - decide to be friends again after you've both started seeing other people and ride together step 7 - repeat entire process
  • 4 0
Alternative Step 1: Go to an MTB race. Step 2: Find a girl there and woo her. 3. see steps 3 to 7 above.
  • 11 1
 Another alternate:
1: find an attractive chick who's into mtb

2:make sure she can buy her own $&!t

3: ride a ton and have a good time

4: get her hot sister into it too

tremendously well made film, music was a perfect compliment and that reverse slo mo section was something special

Sorry to be that guy, but the riders switched order in what was supposed to be the decent for one clip. Awesome work aside from that, however that is one of my biggest pet peeves. Instantly brings it down in my book. Dang it! It was going so good too!

Nice to see a beautiful video of trail riding (XC whatever) that most normal folks will ride.
