Kamikaze Bike Games Coming To Mammoth

When the mountain biking world descends on Mammoth Mountain for this year’s Kamikaze Bike Games, it’ll be treated to an unprecedented freeride spectacle. A newly-built course designed specifically for the ColdCock Speed and Style event will see an international field of 32 riders round massive berms at high speeds before testing gravity, soaring off a newly built step-down and sending huge air off a new finish line jump.



As the sun goes down that same finish line jump will be the venue for a ColdCock best trick competition that will include riders like Mammoth Athlete Cam Zink, Kirt Voreis, Cam McCaul, Carson Storch and Paul Basogotia throwing down their biggest and best in an effort to take home the belt and a portion of the cash purse.


“The Kamikaze Bike Games - and the ColdCock freeride events in particular - will feature some of the biggest names in the sport,” said Bill Cockcroft, Senior Vice President, Mammoth Mountain. “These riders are pushing the boundaries every day. In order to create a true showcase of their abilities we had to go even bigger in building the course and that’s exactly what we’ve done.”


Both the ColdCock Speed and Style and Best Trick events are part of the 2014 Kamikaze Bike Games, a weekend-long celebration of mountain biking at Mammoth from Sept. 18-21.

The freeride competitions aren’t the only events at this year’s Kamikaze Bike Games that will see improvements. New downhill and enduro courses will challenge riders of all abilities and a weekend full of entertainment that also includes kids races contribute to one of mountain biking’s biggest and most inclusive events of the year.


The ColdCock Speed and Style and Best Trick will take place the evening of Sept. 20 at Mammoth’s Canyon Lodge and are free for spectators, who are advised to show up early to secure a prime spot.
