The crew at MDE bikes have been busy working on a new park bike called The Player. It is their answer to the do it all DJ, Park, 4X style bike that riders are looking for.
Check out all the pics and some specs inside,
Check out all the pics and some specs inside,
-It is a new 2010 full suspended frame for slope style and park or 4x riding.
-It has 140mm (200x57mm shox) of rear travel reducible to 110mm by changing the shock (190x50mm).
-It's like an Anvil hardtail with the rear suspension.
-The front triangle is made with Anvil tube set, the rear swingarm is like a Pusher short swing arm.
-We managed to obtain a chain stay length of 423mm.
-The swingarm has our "Dropouts system" with 6 possible options.
-The suspension rate is very progressive.
-We'll make two size: s/m and m/l
-The head tube angle is 68.5 with a 115mm fork and 67° with 160mm fork
-The bb height is 325mm with 115mm fork and 438mm with 160mm fork
-The s/m size has TTR of 555mm and seat tube lenght of 370mm (center to top)
-The m/l size has TTR of 585mm and seat tube lenght of 410mm (center to top)

that looks trilla
that is one extremely attractive looking bike. if only bikes could get POD. actually, Pinkbike should make a BikePOD to show the best bike of the day! listen up Pinkbike Moderators!!!!
im liking the highliter yellow, this is just my opinion, neg props if u like but i find it would look better with a coil
mark310, it's more about how it rides then how it looks. I'm sure at one point they tried it with a coil but for what this bike is designed for I think the air shock would run better. This is one sick bike though, does anyone know how much they cost?
well i wasnt really saying that it would look better but ive tried coil and air, and i find coil rides better, just me though, all riders are different
Is that kid with second comment serious? moderators..? hahaha what the f*ck does that mean.. modiFIERS? maybe. and one more thing about the bike.. it says dj, PARK, 4X... park on that thing?? f*ck no
wow ur the man.^^ a moderator is someone who works for pinkbike(or any company) and in this case goes through the website looking for flaws or things to improve on. for example, if someone hasn't been following the rules of the site, they are the ones who ban or suspend the account. now dont be a jerk about it and grow up
so what i was saying is that if any of them go through this post and read it maybe they can suggest it as a new feature to the site
the BOD idea has come up before. The mods say they wont do it because it will cause so much flaming
too bad that a select few cant just be civil so the rest of us cant enjoy a new sick bike each day

dam that looks very nice
but i think i'd have to go with the lime green
but it is a very clean looking bike anyway

am i the only one that thinks it looks like a cheap, garish, 8 year old's supermarket bike ? Ugly bars, hideous paintjob, and too much bright red...
I wanna know what supermarket you go to. That's some damn lucky 8 year olds!
The only drawback I can see is they haven't sent one over here yet....I want a go!!!

I agree with exocet. It appears that just because something is on the Pinkbike homepage, it gets praise as some amazing product. Personally I think this bike looks pretty catalogue, the tubing looks cheap, the paint looks cheap, the frame looks heavy, as has already been mentioned - the welding looks sub par, and the design of the suspension linkage in relation to the tube/link size and bearing size gives me the impression that this thing is going to flex and the bearings arent going to see much action before needing replaced.
It seems to me as though MDE is trying to replicate the Transition Bikes philosophy of user friendly and on the cheap - along with Giant, Kona, etc. corperative style Financial and R&D management - but production techniques which dont allow for either of these ideals to work properly.
I think I'll give this one a miss to be honest.

Yeah because walmart designed this tubing and rear shock design. Smarten up.

i agree with Bunkey, this just... sort of doesnt look clear, or maybe something is missing. this frame is not so "mint" at all, and the fact, that its posted on PB frontpage, doesnt make it "mint". this frame is, as bunkey killed it, "looking pretty catalogue". no less, no more
one minute everyones bitching about too many swoopy tubes and hydroforming and then the next minute one bike that comes along with all straight tubes and no hydroforming and it gets put down.
nice bike.
probably very pricey, but meh its niche

Maybe you've never seen an MDE live, maybe you've never ride an MDE...
Italian handmading, not a f*cking taiwanese product...
It's non heavy, it's not cheap, it's only a good choice of riding...

the engeneering of this frame is amazing but it just doesnt have the wow factor for me, better in lime green and think it would look good with 24's
They do look kinda cheap........sorry. The color matched parts dont help much. I would pick the lime green for sure, the fade def. looks Wal-Mart.
I agree. The first number 325 mm makes sense, as that is about 12.8 in. But 438 with a 160mm fork? That is 17.24 in! Maybe they meant 348, which would but it at 13.7 in. That makes a lot more sense. Sweet bike though for sure, love the look with a Lyrik instead of a Pike!

that pivit design looks similar to the vpp but is more like a cove design. and it looks like it would ride so nicely!
it is like the cove idea, mde had the i-link out before the cove, seems some small brands like mde have been over looked in the past. if it rides as good as my mde pusher, its going to be a mint bike.
thanks i had no idea and i have never heard of MDE before this and my uncle is the rep for cove so i thought thy looked similar.

is a bada boom... the red-black bikes it's my one, but i'm goin' to change that cause it's too hig (it is for my dirt hardtail).
I want to say the bike it's not too heavy.. the frame with shock it's just 3.5 kg....
ly one builted up in the setup you can see on the photos it's just 13.8 kg.
yoyo

Seats are Shadow slim pivotals, only for the pics though, we ordered 27.2 pivotal posts and shadow mid size sits for definitive setup! Mine is the Yellow/lime green one, and I can tell you riding it is kickass!!

Am I the only one that noticed that the cable routing is revolting? It could have been done better, cleaner, and WAY more pleasing to the eye. The only other person is MrRandom. Frame does look nice though.
Yes it's a 66 with an air kit from Protone components (italian shocks tunner and high end components manufacturer: www.protone-components.it) which allows me to choose the fork travel setting the negative air presure, which is perfect to set this bike according to what you wanna do (freeride or slopestyle ecc...).
As it's not in production yet, price is still to be defined... Anyway it should be something around 1400-1500€ depending on the shock (nothing definitive though)...
The Player Rocks!
I'm sure that it will be the right choice for having fun in bike parks, not only for dirt and slopestyle...
Probably that's will be my next bike...
