Salomon TV Fall Winter 16/17 Teaser: en years ago we introduced Salomon Freeski TV, then added Salomon Running TV shortly thereafter. We’ve delivered episodes that range from trail running in Papa New Guinea to the 2015 award-winning total solar Eclipse freeskiing episode in the arctic circle. To celebrate the 10th anniversary, we’re bringing the kids together to form one channel — Salomon TV. To create this season’s content, we’ve sent a crew of Salomon freeski athletes to British Columbia, explored the Italian Alps, went on an expedition with Kilian Jornet in Norway, and took another lucky fan on his Salomon “Dream Trip”. And that wasn’t even the big one.

A Skier's Journey: Final Season | Trailer: A Skier’s Journey is a series that explores the edges of skiing, where it exists and why. From surprising to superlative to obscure locations, each episode finds a shared human joy in movement, community, and landscape. From Iran, to China, to the ice fields of British Columbia's Coast Range, the final season evolves from a quest for snow to a search for home.

What If You Fly: Hawaiian artist and muralist Sean Yoro (a.k.a. HULA) traveled to the arctic waters of Baffin Island, Nunavut, to paint a portrait of a local Inuit woman on the sea ice. This is the most technical and remote location that Sean has ever attempted a mural, and the wild forces of nature at the top of the world are unpredictable. But for Sean, the physical and creative risks are worth it for a chance at something new. “There is freedom waiting for you, On the breezes of the sky, And you ask "What if I fall?" Oh but my darling, What if you fly?”― Erin Hanson

@Foxclothing, this video is ridiculous. MAKE YOUR SPONSORED RIDERS WEAR HELMETS!!!! Chase Hawk decked in the video, could have been much better off with a lid on. Kids copy these people, helmets are cheap and don't affect your ability to ride. There are NO excuses. Pisses me right off.

They are just attempting to help with our population issue.

lol this is what happens when you post a bmx video on a mtb platform
  • 7 2
@colincolin: lol, I used to ride BMX dirt jump n the lot, but always with a brain bucket on. It's not a wheel size thing, it's a lets not influence kids to lose their mobility thing. Plus anyone pro should be smart enough to advocate this without being told...

I suppose it is natural selection which I'm all for. Especially now we need step ladder and pocket knife training (FFS)!! But just think of the influenceable kids, it's them that need protecting not the numbskull pros heads that aren't already wearing one really! It's their living too, they can't earn properly if they get injured seriously (we've seen great coverage on PB of late too, so we'll done PB) plus nobody wants to see a someone they look up to at a contest do their last ride for example...

@cunning-linguist: I've never really understood the eternal no-helmet BMX purity movement...same goes for skate.

We get it...it's "cool"...but so is walking and talking.

@nvranka: and so is maximum liberty...right to choose. Now when your neighbor is paying for your healthcare, aka socialized, then that's when your actions cost your fellow citizens, not just your family.
  • 9 1
I used to ride BMX.. didnt wear a helmet. now that im older and ive met people with brain injuries i realize how lucky/stupid i really was.
i still ride park, i still see people shredding the bowls with mad skill, not wearing a helmet. all you can really do is lead by example, Fox Clothing should be doing their part by leading as well.
  • 3 1
@jrocksdh: I'm already paying for everyone's healthcare bud....

that's not the point...I really couldn't care less about adult BMXers not wearing helmets...as far as I'm concerned we need additional pop control.

that said...companies like FOX should be setting an example for younger riders. It chills my bones to think about young up and comers having their lives ruined from what could have been prevented by a simple helmet.
  • 4 1
@jrocksdh: silly argument about socialized healthcare: if someone doesn't have healthcare and can't afford to pay for health services then those costs get pushed onto the other customers of healthcare...
  • 1 3
I totally agree, but maybe if Fox made a street helmet that wasn't ugly as, their riders might actually want to wear it (POC for example has rad street helmets)
  • 7 1
I love the BMX vids but seriously these guys gotta stop worrying about looking "cool" and put a frigging helmet on ! the one guy doing 360's down a 15 set with no lid is pretty reckless .
  • 2 1
@nvranka: yep, personal responsibility, self reliance, common sense...old world phrases foreign to millenials and the rebels of the 60s whom now nudge for more and more say in our lives.
  • 5 5
I have never in all my lifetime spent at a bike park heard a single person say " xxxxxxx rider doesn't wear a helmet, so neither will I!" and I seriously doubt that is any ones attitude. If you want to wear a helmet, wear one. If you don't want to wear a helmet, don't. If someone wants their underage children to wear helmets, that's on the parents to enforce. Don't try to pass responsibility for the actions of others onto a pro rider. That's like saying a pro shouldn't do a back flip on a bike because Jimy Nobrains will try it out too and he might break his neck. My philosophy on helmets is probably the same as your philosophy on neck guards and back braces. I'm guessing you don't wear either while you ride. And why not? Could you not fall and break your neck or back at anytime on a trail? You might not wear either because you weigh the pros and cons of wearing one and deciding that the inconvenience posed by it would outweigh the odds of you needing it. If a consenting adult decides not to wear some form of protective gear, that's on them, be it helmet or shinguards or gloves. I have no problem with you complaining about someone not wearing a helmet, but don't imply that its some how Hawks fault if some kid wont wear his helmet. You wont wear a helmet, sorry, but whatever comes after that is on you and you alone.
  • 3 0
@ttrevorbacon: not sure why anyone would get so defensive about not wearing a helmet? I guess you're miffed that people are saying it's incumbent upon the pro rider to set an example?

Neck braces aren't exactly a great example considering no one can definitively agree whether they do more harm or good...not really a question of inconvenience.

Anyways...all good, I don't really care whether pro riders wear a helmet, just seems like it's setting a bad example for groms. When you say bike park I assume you're referring to an MTB bike park...the days of anyone riding MTB without a helmet are long gone.

I would have to imagine that if you went to a local BMX/skate park you'd see a lot of people without helmets as helmets are sort of the "uncool" thing to wear, which is still beyond me.

Maybe I'm wrong...I don't know anything about bmx/skate other than the fact that I constantly see videos of guys doing ridiculous tricks down 10-15+ stairs without a helmet...
  • 1 0
@ttrevorbacon: think you missed the point chap. I see adults riding the forest without still and it is bloody stupid, regardless of age. It's their friends & the ambulance service, which we all pay for that have to scrape them from the floor. Nobody wants that job when £20 could solve it. I've had helmets save me more than once, so has my bro and many mates. Saw a guy at Peaselake at the weekend who probably would have dust for brains without one on. Also parents enforcing kids to wear them, they do out of the house, then chuck it in their bag to look cool, like the dumb assed pros that they idolise. What I'm saying is, it is everyone's responsibility to look out for each other. These guys have the largest influence and ahould think twice.
  • 1 3
My opinion on this, let people make the choice. Let the riders ride where hey want, how they want, wearing and riding whatever they want. If it doesn't have a direct effect on your life why bother trying to regulate. If your kid decides he wants to copy a pro not wearing a helmet, hold some boundaries until you cant anymore. I suffered a severe head injury when I was a youngin and head to learn how to talk again. My parents MADE me wear a helmet skatingl snowboarding and biking. Once i resisted enough they gave up. I smartened up quick a few concussions later. I got the head injury from a golf club, I never had to wear a helmet golfing. Point is, head injury can happen at anytime, let people make their own choices and deal with the consequences after the fact.

I was more upset that I had to fast-forward 3+ minutes of crap to get to the actual riding.
  • 12 3
Well Matt Macduff just impressed my girlfriend, so now I don't have to. Two birds stoned at once.

Ice cream, with packaged pasta? Jeeeeeezzzzz that's next level rancid mange that is!

Well, I learned nothing from those Norco videos other than people can ride 'em. I wanna know more about the bikes!!! How can I decide to buy one with no sexy shots of bike porn???
  • 1 1
Sight 29 140mm front 130mm rear, and the bigger brother the Range 29. Also updates to the carbon 27.5 bikes on both. Seen a few of these ripping around my neck of the woods already!
  • 2 1
@j-t-g: Nice. Wonder when they'll hit kiwiland... got some choosing to do between the 2017 Norco's, Trek Slash, Reign Advanced, and Mondraker Dune for my next sled.
  • 2 2
@handynzl: new reigns are coming next eyar so would stay away from those for sure. Sick bike though and the new advanced 1 is primo for the $$$
  • 1 1
@handynzl: loving my dune - Had a great bike in the Kona Process 153 - but the Dune is a totally different bike. So smooth through the rough stuff -forgiving on jumps and climbs like a goat - loving every minute!
  • 1 1
@tomasb13: Yeah, the Reign wasn't really on the radar until the '17 dropped with the specs it has. But, yeah, wondering what the '18 will be like considering the Trance was updated for '17 but the Reign wasn't. Dilemma city Razz
  • 1 1
@tmakea: Have a '14 Mondy Factor...only 100/110mm travel f/r, but it's pretty much my go-to bike. Rides quicker than my other bikes, comfier, and lighter...can't really fault Mondrakers, apart from that whole price thing... the longer I procrastinate, the more moolah saved, but.

Real bmx second place video is great. Nice to have some raw, lofi, and plan mental street riding.

Watching that video made my knees cry in sympathy...
  • 2 0
Im just blown away by the 10-20ft drops to flat landed on 20" wheel BMX!!! MTB people crying about not having a smooth ride, not absorbing 2-3 ft drops well with 160mm travel...need 200MM travel for landing on smooth transition park jumps....Im just giving big props to these crazy BMX street folks! I know most of it is a different world, but the abuse those little bike can take is crazy
  • 4 0
Omg i bet if Chase Hawk had been wearing a helmet he wouldn't have ripped his flesh open like that
