Norco Bikes of Port Coquitlam B.C. chose Whistler B.C. as the place to launch their 2009 bike line up to the Media, Dealers and International Distributors. All last week you could see their new bikes ripping laps in the bike park under happy riders. I've shown you the new Empire 5, the Team DH, the Alines and the Atomik, so today let's have a look at the Shore Series, the SIX series and the 4XXXX model.
Here is a look at 2009 bikes:
Here is a look at 2009 bikes:
After taking a look at the big DH race and park style bikes it's time to have a gander at the freeride side of the new 2009 Norco bikes. The Shore was built and bred around the riding that is in Norco's back yard. The SIX series is like heavy duty all mountain or light duty freeride, while the redesigned 4XXXX is ready to race dual, 4X, hit up the Dirt Jumps or play in the bike park.
You won't find a dual crown on any of these bikes, just long travel single crowns to increase versatility and allow the bikes to be better matched up from a suspension stand point for their intended use. They are all meant to be ridden hard on demanding terrain.

Those new norcos are off the hook, there so awesome!
yea man i agrree they look f*cking insane,i might even sell my xc bike for one of those
and my downhill bike
then borrow a coupleof g's
then maybe i could aforrd it

Oh comon norco! they seem to be copying everyones ideas! the rear looks like it came off a 2003 specialized bighit the front triangle looks like a 1999 kona stabs and the graffix stole from a specialized P1 or p2 although on the otherhand all these things combined do add to great effect and i would rather have this than the DH
ummm im sorry but have you seen a 2003 bighit? because i have, and they didnt look anything like that.... crack is a bad habbit
the reason norco is copying everyone is because there original frame designs suck black salty balls. I used to hate norco but now the are going with the proven linkage systems and hoping it will work better to get them out of that hole they dug for themselves for 7 years.
they are nice bikes and all but i think the 08 shore frame design for almost everything for 09 was f*ucking stupid of norco to do...like why? the 08 atomic was nice, they should have used it for 09 frames...norco lost alot of respect from me this year
^ lol yeah thats wierd how theyre let out in 08
and i why isnt there a full shot of the empire? i wanna see what the whole thing looks like

What the f*ck is Norco doing. If you want a new 2009 Norco DH bike than get the 2008 Norco Free Ride bike and put triple crown forks on it. You will be saving your self a hell of alot of money. Big f*ck up.
haha nice to know it doesn't count for much to you...but i'm sure other people are thinking the same as me and the prise went up on every single bike....why? and $7G's for the team DH is a bit much....,yes all the bikes are nice this year that i've seen but in some ways some of them aren't
hmm, the reason the rear end looks like a big hit couldent be because they liscence their suspention design from specialized could it? naahh thats too obvious...

Bloody oath it is. Especialy considering you can get on of those 09 SX trails for about the same price. They do look pretty good though.
welcome to the time of high oil prices. this means higher shipping costs and anything made of plastics is more expensive. expect all bikes in the 09 season, at least in north america to be 20-30% more than in 08
haha, $5200?!?! you're shitting me... you can get like two of giant's reign x1's for that! and shores still blow...
The six looks like the only Norco for 09 i'd ride (i would not pay for it but i'd give it a go if i had the chance)
[Reply]
yeah, these dont impress me much more than the team dh bike which REALLY sucked and just al around looked like butt... The curvy tubes looked way too much like the old stab..

All bikes are going up about 15% or higher in price next year. Alluminum is becoming more expensive to produce, and labour prices are increasing. Don't expect prices to be higher just with norco.
of course they wouldnt show the new hammer schimdt cranks on the shore....
with these bikes your pretty much paying for the parts spec

I didnt like norco as it was an these make me hate them even more. these bikes better ride better than they look.
One of the only desist bikes norco have made for DH is probably The shore.
They always been really nice.
They always been really nice.
I love the bike but they cost so much more then the 2008. 08 shore 2 is 2800. 09 shore 3600 that is a huge increase

where did my other comment go... i understand that they used to be at a good price, but with these new ones all they did was make the old design a little uglier and raise the price.
Im gonna have to say these bikes are sweet, kona sucks balls, they have had the same peice of crap frames for so long and all they do is change the colors and parts everyyear. specialized is awsome. norco got thier system from specialized and paid for it. i would say it almost kinda looks like a specialized demo minus all the extra metal. i think these bikes are sweet and got sweet colors. everyone's got different opinions right? so keep your tempers and stop acting like 5 year olds.

hahahaha Norco raising the shore 1 by $6701,that would be norco's biggest mistake if they are dumb enougth to do it,nobody is gonna buy it with that price

I can't wait until the curved tube design fad is over and we can get back to making bikes that look like what they are meant to do. A wicker basket with some pansies in it would be right at home on any of those.
i agree with you completely! - what's with the bendy toptube and down tube? there is no justification. - all it does is make them structurally weaker and increases the cost of production and thus purchasing. I don't have anything against norco, i just wish they put more effort into the aesthetics of their bikes (colour doesn't count because ANYone can colour co-ordinate).
It's the standover height they are going for.... the bends give it a little more clearance all around... not to mention its hydroformed so its stronger than a a straight piece of material...
ok i can understand the stand-over height for small people, but there really isn't anything wrong with buying a small sized frame instead of a medium and having to use a bendy top tube. hydroforming doesn't make it stronger than a straight piece of material that has undergone the same processes of hardening - it makes it stronger than just simply bending the straight piece of material. A straight piece of material will remain the stronger of the two due to it not having any enforced points of constriction - it's molecules will remain aligned, with fewer weaknesses to stress - thus the breaking strength of the material will remain the same along the whole of the material, instead of being subject to the weaknesses enforced by the hydroforming.
Bendy downtube? no stand-over clearance is needed. Nor is tyre clearance... otherwise the forks would have a problem and the angles would be pretty awful. - thus the 2009 norco bikes seem to have been made by a child with 'Cheese-strings' or whatever that edible yellow plastic is called.

The second picture of the red six 1 looks like there's a DW type pivot or link by the bottom bracket. Maybe the top half of the rear linkage doesn't but the bottom chainstay sure looks like a DW type. OOOOh patent infringement, I'm tellin grandma.

Now you can get the same ugly frame in different colors across the full susp Norco line up. Sweet
I never did like the 08 shore frame, nor will I humor the thought of liking any 09 Norco product.
If I can say anything positive, the colors are pretty.

the 2009 bikes are a ton more expensive than the 2008 models Why? I dont know a ton of people who ride norco fullys. why would they raise the price if they dont have a massive fan base like Specialized. Also they dont have many sponsored riders do they? im not sure but ben boyko isnt a huge draw for people wanting the same bike as their favourite rider.

OK, ALL BICYCLE COMPANIES ARE RAISING THEIR PRICES FOR THE NEXT YEAR DUE TO RAISING FUEL AND MATERIAL COSTS BY 20-30% (in north america anyways) JESUS. NOW YOU ALL KNOW.
P.s. i don't like these very much at all. look like the specialized trails, plus the new norco 4xxxx looks like ballsacks.yellow ballsacks.

Seems to me that if you changed the top tube with a bend you might have to bend the down tube to match the welds/geometry. As well as this, the rear suspension is now on a more horizontal plane as apposed to a downward/upward travel pattern.

I never liked the look of the new 09 shores...but now, i love it! benty tubes rock.
I'm thinking about getting the norco shore 2 looks crazy!
