Wow, A full-suspension frame with a shock for only $1000? Oh, It's an Ellsworth.
  • 13 1
I got a nukeproof mega AM frame w/ monarch plus from crc last year for $900
  • 3 2
^No way, why so cheap, sale?
  • 4 0
I paid $1003 for my Mega they have crazy sales after x-mas.
  • 29 1
I just paid $2700 for a complete Commencal Meta AM1 on pricepoint. Free shipping too. Not that this is relevant, just had to tell someone.
  • 2 0
Yeah it was on sale plus i think 10% off on top of that from promo codes they have from time to time
  • 1 0
So how do you rate pricepoint? Saw a good deal there bud don't really know the shop. How is service?
Has to ship to Europe.
  • 2 0
Yeah, you got it. I was surprised they were honoring the 41% off plus the additional 10% off for Halloween. Needless to say I am stoked and will be selling some gear to pay for it!
I think pricepoint is tits, there markdowns are true in my experience. Unfortunately, according to there site, they don't ship frames outside the US but they do ship everything else.
  • 2 0
I've always had good experiences with Pricepoint as well. They run a ton of sales and have some really great prices on things if you stay on top of the sales. I've never had an issue with anything I've ever ordered and the few returns I've done have been handled without a hitch.
  • 2 0
I've had good and bad experiences with Pricepoint. Their prices are great but if you order a certain color and they dont have it they'll just send you whatever they have. Hate that. My "go to" is BikeBling. They never mess up.
  • 2 0
@micahaalders3 thank you for that great laugh.
  • 1 0
...+1 for price point from me as well. they had a little glitch where i was about to add a discount code to an item on sale (it said i couldn't), and they honored it Smile

 Tits Magee
  • 3 2
ellsworth has a way better pivot systtem than your mega , no offene but theyres reasons the swingarm is so long , theyre great riding bikes , i would never buy one but they are pretty goo d
  • 1 0
I'd still ride the Mega over an Ellsworth. Ellsworth's are ugly.
  • 2 0
Got a bell super a lot cheaper from price point than is advertised above, epic deal...
  • 1 0
Ellsworth released a modern* all mountain bike with a 70 degree head angle. 70 degrees! A nomad is 65, a Capra is 65.5 and a tracer is 66.5! Get with the times!
*modern: read "modern for Ellsworth but not any other company"
  • 21 0
There is a reason why the Kenda Telonix is $13 and they still can't get rid of them
  • 8 1
I rocked the Telonix for a couple months. Super grip in both corners and on the brakes. They just feel like your riding through a very long puddle of molasses.
  • 8 0
 *$11.99
  • 3 0
Haha I'm guilty of rocking the Telonix in 2.6 and 2.4 on my DH rig. RatHunters comments are spot on. With DH tubes, Azonic Outlaw wheels, and these wirebead monsters my calculated wheelset weight is 13lbs... ouch

It doesn't grip all that bad, but man are they heavy! Ditto to what everyone else said. Like riding though sand or mud!
  • 1 0
Its a great tread pattern but the weight is just unacceptable.
  • 8 0
I'd never heard of them before. I clicked the link, saw the weight numbers, and clicked the back button
  • 1 0
Love hate thing going with my telonix in 2.4 they are awesome on a hardtail down rocky tech trails but dam they are like your pulling an anchor behind you on the ride up.
Will save them for downhill lift runs only my thrown the on for some mud/rain riding. They do grip really good!
  • 1 0
@SoDiezl350 My road bike weighs 13lbs...
  • 11 0
the bell full face helmet lookks really nice !! and what an ugly crankset !

99.999% of products on the market are pretty standard. We have designed up loads of our parts from scratch. Where we work with massive specialist manufacturers all our new products are unique to our brand

For example our AM carbon rim is our own design, our own moulds, with independent research by Bath Universities composite labs. So yes we do R&D if you check out what we do.
  • 3 0
All the hate for Superstar and it's all coming from the USA, how can you hate on a company you have never used !!! They build great wheels and make some great products like there Nw chainrings and pedals .
  • 7 6
Nice that Pinkbike supports and promotes online shopping sites, because sites like Chain Reaction put on local races, events, and maintain local trails. Goooooood Gooooood. Bring in online site prices to real bike shops and we will match em! F the online world undercutting local bike shop owners.
  • 7 0
By saving money on components buying online, I can spend more at local breweries who sponsor races and donate to the organization who builds and maintains local trails.
  • 1 0
as it happens the main Guys in Chain reaction ran Irish DH races for over 10 years! but yea Id always try and support a LBS when possible.
  • 1 0
Don't get all the hate on @SuperstarComponents i have been using there stuff for years and can't fault it!

although i wonder was the voucher code PINKRING an intentional inuendo?
  • 3 0
Went to the jenson site to look at those giro shoes and they only have them in really small sizes. Useful
  • 14 2
Is this your way of telling us you have a large shlong?
  • 4 0
erm.....what? you got something on your mind?
  • 3 0
 Yes. Your shlong.
  • 1 0
If my feet grow beyond size 14 I'm pretty much fucked in terms of riding shoes
  • 1 0
Schwalbe Ice Spiker Winter MTB Tyre shows on sale here for $66.49..........Go to the Chainreaction site, shows $79.49.
What's up w'dat!!!! Definitely not the same good deal.

Neil i am really keen on buying the chain ring at 20 quid but when i go to pay theres no option to enter the discount code?? Help
  • 1 0
Hey Toop - have you tried taking it to the checkout section? Normally there isn't it?
  • 1 0
Click view cart then put your code in the promo box. Simples
  • 1 0
Yes ive ordered two, i was just going straight to the checkout instead of viewing the basket. Great price btw!!
  • 1 0
That camelback is a steal! Just ordered one with free international shipping! Great deal.
  • 1 0
@SuperstarComponents It's too bad you guys dont ship to the US, woulda loved one of your narrow/wide rings.
  • 3 1
 £100 for a wheelset, what's the catch?
  • 12 2
 It says superstar on it...
  • 6 2
That's no catch they are great wheels and easily compete with wheels of £300+
  • 2 13
flag BoneDog (Nov 6, 2014 at 9:35) (Below Threshold)
 Yup. F that company,
  • 11 0
It's a genuine clearance bargain. We just have too much stock of 150mm hubs of the old tank EVO model and they are 26" rims. May not be 2015 fashion but I know there are lots of people out there riding that spec.

We have built all we have and when the are gone that's your lot. You couldn't get the rims and spokes alone for that price from a shop!
  • 1 0
Can you explain the different alpha numerical designations? Are they representative of the width? Does c27 equate to 27mm internal width? Thanks
  • 2 0
Does that include custom machining down to fit a 142x12 axle? Cause that would be funduro!
  • 2 1
NO shipping to USA? Why not?
  • 3 4
@adkrider its because they dont believe in their products. i tried to order something from them and they wouldnt let me. they said US is too 'sue happy'

to me that just screams not standing behind what they produce. i offered to sign a release of liability and he still wasnt having it. DUMB.
  • 2 5
^^They said that! What a bunch of TOOLS. SuperStar? SuperSad. or SuperSUCK?
  • 3 3
all of the above are perfectly acceptable

thanks for making it hard @SuperstarComponents , really appreciate it.
  • 2 2
Yea was literally about to place an order for those wheels and until I got to checkout and found out they won't ship here. Bummer
  • 6 1
Unfortunately due to insurance we cannot ship to the USA currently.

It's not anything to do with the product and it is out of our hands. We have to follow the rules put in place by our insurer and they rank the USA as the biggest risk in the world due to litigation

We are working on a solution but it will take time

Neil (superstar)
  • 3 0
maybe try different insurance? like maybe one that everyone else that ships to the US uses? we might be the biggest risk, but we are probably the biggest market. not that you didnt already know that.
  • 3 1
Let's put it this way. We insure our whole business, staff, product and stock for the whole of the world. To add USA would triple the whole bill. It just doesn't make sense. Big I don't make the rules.
  • 1 0
Nothing special here, will save $ for next month...

SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL BIKE SHOP!!!!!!!!!!!!! CAN'T GET YOUR BIKE REPAIRED ONLINE
  • 1 0
I tried very hard to support my LBS, but I finally realized that the LBS within all of Alberta and anywhere in Canada are gouging us on prices for replacement parts. The only place in Canada that is reasonable and competitive in their prices is TBS Bike Parts from Kelowna. If I'm to support the LBS, these shops need to be more reasonable in their prices or go with a distributor that can give them the best commodity prices. If other online stores can provide prices that are 30% to 70% lower for the same product, there's something wrong with the pricing here locally. I can't fix my bike online, but I sure as hell can fix my bike and swap out parts (that I buy online) at home.
  • 2 0
Shred, we're not trying to gouge you. Shimano margins are 30%. Seriously. Not keystone. There's little to no wiggle (hah!) room. That cassette and cogset *costs* a shop 30 dollars more than what Chainreaction is selling it for.

And guess what? Shimano and Lambert are the only two distributors of Shimano in Canada.
  • 1 0
It also doesn't help when online stores can afford to order 1000 of every product and shops can only order a dozen. because of those amounts, online is given better discounts. If you buy online, it does save you money and yes you can be given errors in products from time to time, but the prices are better. As long as you are willing to have things installed by shops there shouldn't be an issue.
  • 6 5
 superstar. what a joke.
  • 5 4
I hate when companies flood the market with the same exact shit everyone else has to offer, I hate it even more when one company tries to cover all ends of components and have zero background in anything. Literally when you buy this shit, your are paying someone to go through a catalog of pre made bicycle components, choose a color, choose a price, intended usage, put a logo on it, Increase the price so its profitable and call yourself a passionate bicycle component manufacturer. Give me a F'n break. I'll spend that extra cash and fund some R&D in some brands spearheading bicycle innovation.
  • 11 1
That's a bit of a harsh opinion! In reality we have been going for 8+ years, we are all bikers here. we build all our wheels in house in the UK on probably the best wheelbuilding machine in the world. We only use quality components such as Sapim spokes.

Yes the hub is a catalogue part as used by all the big brands, but we offer it at half the price and back that up with free truing for life, crash rebuild discounts and more spare parts instock than anyone.

As for r&d we are manufacturing lots of parts like the chainrings in the UK, all our own design, CNC machines and tooling. Am carbon rims are 100% our design and tooling, delta pedals, Volta and tesla hubs all our own design etc

We are so good at making chainrings we are actually manufacturing them for several other brands in Europe. So now the tables have turned and the other brands are OE selling our product!

If you want something for 5 times the price and super niche fill your boots with other brands but if you want a quality wheelset for beer money that the one for you. I'm not forcing you to buy from us!

Neil (Superstar)
  • 2 1
^^R&D, or copy cat, with a few tweaks? Any innovations?
  • 5 2
What's the crack with all the hate @SuperstarComponents ? I've been using their stuff for years and always been happy!
  • 1 0
@SuperstarComponents Question, can you make a 150mm Center Lock disc 32 straight pull spokes hub?! Just wondering why nobody make this yet...
  • 2 1
 ^^Shimano, Saint, Zee.
  • 1 0
 oops, you said "straight pull"
  • 1 1
That's about as niche a part as you can get! We sell less than 1% 150mm hubs, very little demand for centre lock and straight pull is alot of cost for little benefit.

I'm sure dt Swiss do one but it will not be cheap!
  • 2 1

  • 2 0
@SuperstarComponents Well, most downhill bikes use 150mm rear axle, Center Lock disc hub can switch to ISO 6 bolt and as for straight pull, you can replace spokes on the wheel drive side without taking off the cassette.
  • 4 5
CRC prices are somehow a joke once again ,yeah ok
  • 4 1
They look cheap because they say its 20% cheaper then RRP. The price is till the same or even more expensive then the average shop.
Sometimes they do have great deals though.
  • 1 0
yes in some components or accessories they do have some pretty good deals
