Why is bear spray only required for riders OVER 18? Are under 18 year olds too small for the grizzlies to bother eating? Or is the expectation they are faster than the over 18 riders and can out run them (you only have to out run one person after all)?

Its not the races rule, it's the government. it is illegal to force someone who his U18 to carry it. Maybe because it is a registered weapon.

@aidanbrown559: Registered weapon??? Every time I have purchased a can they asked for money and then handed me the can. This was at Crappy Tire and a local outdoors shop.
  • 2 0
@VPS13: they should be taking details of the purchaser and recording them against can serial numbers. but i agree, it shouldn't be necessary.
  • 1 0
@arnie86: Its not mandated or law, I think its a liability thing for certain stores but I cant find anything stating its mandatory to record info of purchaser.
  • 1 0
@VPS13: MEC records all bearspray purchases and only sells it to you upon producing an ID
  • 1 0
@VPS13: fair enough. we do so at the store i work at and other stores i have purchased at so i figured maybe it was uniform.

I"ll be getting into Canmore tomorrow afternoon (travelling solo). If anyone would like to tee up for a ride saturday send me a pm. I would like to see what I'm in for Sunday.

Only 975m metres of climbing? Kamloops was around 1700m. Man did I choose a ding dong of a stop to "try out" enduro.
  • 2 0
Don't be fooled... less climbing total but stages are much much more pedally.
  • 1 1
You will be glad that you only have to climb 975m. Stage 6 is pretty much the only stage that isn't a full on sprint. Stage 3 is about 2-4 min of lung and quad burning sprints. HAVE FUN!
  • 1 0
Ohh don't forget that canmore sits 1375m above sea level and Kamloops is at 375m. Less oxygen up here which u are going to need all of.
  • 2 0
What time would you suggest one arrive if they wanted to watch and support the awards ceremony? 2pm??
  • 2 0
Need to be 18 to purchase...

 We should carry hand guns.
