I'm not entirely sure how the whole specialized and the claw disbanding went down.... But fuck me ... specialized if you had any say in him leaving... You done fucked up son!
Hmmm, work 10 to 12 hrs 5days a week.. Pretty hard to use that 24 hr properly.. After work spins don't really cut it anymore.. Can afford the sickest in bike stuff tho! Ahhh got to love the good ol hamster wheel..
Great video. Strange synchronicity here. I was just riding on Vancouver Island this past weekend because my wife and learned of a spot from watching a Bearclaw video a while ago. So we mentioned him to each other. Then I watched this last night. This morning, back in the US, I went out to breakfast and in walks Darren, his wife and new baby and they sit at the table next to me. I was a bit tongue tied and made some awkward comment to him not wanting to bother them. Then when I left and headed to work I realized he was in my dream last night. I was riding with him and we hit that super stylish foot plant on the stump. Its a little bit strange. I wonder if they are off towards Rampage because there was a sweet truck trailer combo with BC plates. I realized what I wanted to say to him but was too tongue tied was, something like. "I really enjoy watching you ride and people of your ability inspire me to raise myself to a higher level."
@dsoicher: there really is nothing like riding with the power of a small nuclear device strapped to your head. Sometimes I wonder if my light, being so bright, is going to start a forest fire.
Many people report that bar lights can be distracting and detrimental in certain trails. Light rotates with the handlebars and anyone with a smidgen of style will be dizzying themselves.
A Powerful light on the head works quite nice here in BC.
You only need to see where your eyes are looking. Plus, the first time you hit tight switchbacks with a bar mounted light, you'll realize it's not pointing anywhere you are actually going.
Evert year around this time I notice that I need lights to do my evening rides and browse for some new ones. Until now everybody was saying that you need two sets, one in the helmet, one in the bar. To get a quality set was expensive and I never really bought anything. This might be a game changer. I mean, the claw has super human skills but no better sight than us normal humans (or does he....).
I too was surprised by them not running both lights. Helmet light is needed so you can see where you're going around turns. Bar light is needed to provide depth perception. Helmet lights cast no visible shadows since the light is coming from the same point as your eyes. Without shadows everything is flat or 2 dimensional.
I shoot the bar light out far, which allows me to angle down the head light a little more for better vision directly in front and for turns. Obviously, just a head light will work, but I prefer both. Also nice to know if one fails (cable ripped out, battery, etc.), I'm not going 25 km/h through the bush blind.
@Studer: have a look for Cree T6 XML lights on ebay, they're chinese clones but they're really bright, and literally a tenth of the cost of most of the proper options. The bike light industry is pretending that electronics aren't advancing and it's starting to show.
Doesn't look like that system is set up for biking at all, I don't think that headband will go on your helmet. If it does then you'd be carrying almos 500 grams on your head?
