Pinkbike.com announced today the launch of its large-format print publication Pinkbike Magazine.
Pinkbike, a grassroots based website that exploded into a mountain bike powerhouse on the heels of the freeride revolution, will launch a monthly print magazine that will hit newsstands June 2011. Pinkbike Magazine, a glossy, large-format publication will deliver the spectacular imagery, insightful technical analysis and on-location reporting that made Pinkbike.com the world’s preeminent source of information and media for the sport’s most influential riders.
“Pinkbike Magazine speaks to a new generation of riders who, like it or not, have been the creative, driving force of mountain biking for over a decade,” says Pinkbike Publisher Julian Coffey. “These people have been largely ignored by existing print media, and our new mag will be a big wake-up call.”
“We blew up with new-school riders, and now we’re a fiercely-interactive community,” says Karl Burkat. “Pinkbike Magazine is a showcase for athletes who push the envelope in all categories, and a portal through which the cycling world will experience mountain biking at its highest level.”
Brandon Semenuk: "Stoked to kick off the first official PB mag with one of my favorite shots I got in 2010. Excited for the new mag and to produce more like this in 2011"
Pinkbike Magazine will deliver an unparalleled visual experience. Directed by Photo Editor Ian Hylands and renowned location photographer Sterling Lorence, readers will feast on large-format images, vividly reproduced on high-quality glossy pages. Visit a location photographed on Pinkbike Magazine’s pages, and you’ll feel as if you’ve already been there.
“Pinkbike has an immense image library with over 6 million photos." says Photo Editor Ian Hylands. "So each image we choose for Pinkbike magazine represents the best of the best. To reproduce them in a standard-format magazine would be a disservice to the artist - and our readers."
Sterling Lorence added: “I of course love seeing my photos in print. I’m stoked anytime someone is willing to put ink to paper – it puts a big smile on my face!”
Pinkbike Magazine assures that its tech editorial will not be affected by advertising - all technical articles will be spearheaded by Tech editor Mike Levy. Levy weighs in: “We test every product and report the results as if we were speaking with trusted friends—because we are.”
Pinkbike Magazine will be available in 12 languages and distributed globally – a model that will keep costs reasonable and circulation numbers high.
