Pinkbike Poll - What Would Be Your Two Wheeled Guilty Pleasure?

Feb 5, 2016
by Olly Forster
Mountain biking's constantly evolving disciplines and sub genres have allowed bike engineers to really go to town when it comes to creating bikes with a single purpose. These extremely specialist machines have been designed from the ground up to dominate a variety of unique environments and scenarios from sailing over huge jumps, navigating vertical rock-strewn lines at warp speed, ploughing through snow drifts or even aiding your survival on a multi-day adventure in the wilderness.

But for most of us, we have just the one bike, one which we have chosen for a number of reasons, but at the heart of that decision was its application with regards to where and how we ride, most of the time. But what if you could have another bike, regardless of cost and irrespective of how much time you would actually use it? A specialist one trick pony and a bike you've always thought, "I'd love to have one of those"...

FROM ONE EXTREME TO THE OTHER

Big Travel Bruiser

They're big, they're bad-ass and they're expensive, especially considering they only go in one direction; down! But then downhill bikes are like Formula 1 cars, honed to do the one thing we all love to do, bomb downhill. Downhill bikes also represent something else - the sharp and dangerous end of an already dangerous sport. Today's DH bikes are rocket ships - a honed species of specialist bike that are 20-years in the making and getting faster all the time. Are they too much to handle for anyone but factory pro's or do they allow mere mortals like us to shred the kind of trails we could only have dreamed of a few years ago?

Slopestyle Supremo

Maybe this is an aesthetics thing, but slopestyle bikes just look like a lot of fun, especially the full suspension ones - almost to the point where you could be fooled into thinking they'd let you clear a line at your local dirt jump spot? Unfortunately for most us, the necessary minerals required to ride like Ryan Howard, Brandon Semenuk or Martin Soderstrom are few and far between. But that said, sales of these specialist little machines are on the rise and it doesn't take a genius to figure out that they probably could help many of us with a skills shortfall, a degree of access to the world of tricks and stunts...
Steps to the Top - Brandon Semenuk Joyride

Go Fat or Go Home

Designed to keep you on two wheels when everything turns white, fat bikes have seemingly come from nowhere, quickly becoming a regular fixture at popular riding destinations around the world, even during the summer months. Their popularity in the UK for example, where it rarely snows to the point that you couldn't ride a regular MTB, is surely tantamount to madness? At least, that's what you'd think except for the massive smiles on their bearded faces... But for those who deal with snow, ice and indeed sand on a regular basis, surely such a machine would be less of a guilty pleasure and more of a necessity?

After a 3rd in Widham it was all eyes on Loris Vergier today and rightfully so. He hit this section faster than anyone and left the assembled crowd of risers scratching their heads.

And that brings us to this week's poll question... So what will it be? A downhill bike to destroy your local DH tracks or a fat bike to show winter who's boss? How about a super lightweight XC bike to smash Strava or a thoroughbred enduro machine to take to the wildest off-piste terrain you can find? Maybe you just want one because they look rad and would probably never use it properly - it doesn't matter; what does, is letting us know in the poll below!

If you could own a specialist 'one-trick' mountain bike that you don't really need, but have always wanted, what would you have?

 A downhill bike is a must-have, not a «don't really need»!

Come on!
  • 57 4
Depends where you live. Here in Ohio my trail bike is my must have. I have a DJ bike too. I make those two cover all my riding. A DH bike would be a luxury to me.
  • 3 5
 yep I'm surprised about that
  • 58 3
A good Enduro/Trail bike will do 80% of a DH bike and it's hard to afford both. Also, I don't always need to organise a car drop with my trail bike and you can live with a trail bike on XC rides (not ideal, but it works). It was a hard choice to make, but the DH bike and my smaller trail bike were sacrificed last year for an aggressive trail bike. Especially with the community smoothing the hell out of every trail (pisses me off to no end!!!!!...learn how to ride your bike, don't tame the trail to make it easier to ride...argh!!!), I rarely need the DH bike.

DH until I die. I tried the short travel down hill, agressive all mountain, free ride type bikes back when it was a trend in 2006-2008? never again! Plus modern DH bikes pedal so well I have no issues riding the "enduro" trails around here.
  • 7 0
not surprised. It's the top media event for MTB, the most extreme, and the bikes are so purpose built they're fun just to read about. It's Engineering art worthy of wall space, and I love tech throwbacks here on PB. No Hill? Find a stair case and dream. Fortunately I have mountains so it's a must have, making my guilty pleasure the SS.
  • 48 3
@makripper 2006!! You know that was 10 years ago!! Thats like saying, "i tried one of them there digital cameras when they first came out and didnt like the em so-never again!"
  • 5 0
I can't believe you guys are trying to find another sub genre.
  • 3 1
Kamloops is kinda unique....every and any bike can be used exclusively here as your "one bike" if that's all you wanna do Smile This is a 3 or 4 bike town if you wanna cover it all...but 2 bikes will do. DH and All Mountain.

no its not @tratlif1 It's called marketing. Look! it works! they convinced you that you need to use the word "enduro" instead of just Mountain Bike.... Congratulations in buying into this shit. have fun breaking components that have to be lighter to fit into the bizarre category bro.

PS. you can get some pretty bad ass high end digital cameras. (have you heard of a company called RED and their digital cameras?) Its not like the changed the name of them or anything the just progressively get better, like basically all technology, even DH bikes! holy cow!! I am not getting how they relate at all.

please neg prop the shit out of me you bandwagon jumping faeries! Smile Smile Smile

voted for freeride strictly bc the process 167 looks like the funnest bike on the planet
  • 5 1
 remedy 9.8 :p haha
  • 4 1
 Kona process 167 heaven yeh!
  • 6 3
@teschenbrenner Pretty much every pro bike is a pleasure just to read about. I really enjoy reading about pro XC bikes personally; the weight weenie stuff those guys do (running 2-3 rotor bolts) is crazy
  • 5 0
My rigid SS 29er is more fun to ride, and faster, on most of the trails close to me than my 160mm enduro machine
  • 5 1
I actually want a custom Brompton (english made folding bike). I've seen some sick builds over the years with Profile hubs laced into the rims, Race Face bars, Shimano HT2 cranks, etc.

My downhill bike and my park bike are the only ones that matter. My XC bike is a utilitarian means to an end, and the rest are just toys. Downhill is all.
  • 3 0
I've been mountain biking for 25+ years and never owned a DH bike. My latest is a Santa Cruz Bronson -- handles the downs very well and is an excellent climber. I guess I'm just an old guy that still likes to climb my bike to the top before coming down. I also like shuttling and lift access but 95% of my riding involves pedaling up first. I hate hike-a-bike.
  • 3 0
i don't see how any of these are guilty pleasures. nothing shameful about a downhill bike, or even a fat bike these days, just depends where/how you ride. if you want to talk about guilty pleasures, a fuss-squish plus-tire ebike would be the only bike on my list.
  • 2 0
Already having a custom dh bike, that is able much more that I can. If somewhat richan asked me if I want to have any existing bike, I would chose enduro. Not because I'm fan of it, but sometimes I just want to go some flat or not really extreme trais, and I don't want to take there 16700 gramms of 200mm travel
  • 1 0
@niccolope @Imnukepf coming from proud 167 owner all i can say is hell yeah!
  • 90 0
 N+1
  • 32 5
How do you answer the poll when you already have like 8 bikes?

Please add additional option: Industry needs to invent new bike type
  • 16 0
You proceed to get 3 bikes of the same category bike, but spec them SRAM vs Shimano and full Fox vs full Rockshock vs full DVO and give us a review.
  • 9 0
Damn you're right. Parallel fleets, sram vs shimano
  • 3 2
better yet get me a bike like a yt cf tues full fox/shimano and let me give you a review..... even tho i can predict what my review would be. (HOLY SHIT THIS IS AWESOMEEEEE!!!) haha
  • 67 6
How about Cyclocross? It's the skinny little brother to a lot of the singletrack riding I enjoy.
  • 84 10
Neg prop me all you want but I think road bike should be here as well
  • 100 4
+1 on the road bike. carbon everything and ride it with baggy shorts
  • 35 0
 Di2 + Baggies FTW!
  • 6 4
I bought a CX bike 2 years ago as a guilty pleasure... I've consistently done the most mileage on it since! Singletrack, xc, road... It is snazung. My Trek Slash has now become the guilty pleasure behind the CX and 29er HT, demoted from the most used bike before!
  • 32 4
 What's happening to Pinkbike?
CX, road bikes, why not a trainer while you're at it?
  • 14 9
Who the hell doesn't have a trainer?
  • 9 1
@Happymtbfr trainer is a step in the wrong direction, then you're inside...
  • 50 0
I went out on my road bike one day in my mtb baggies and was surprised at how many looks of disgust I got from the roadie lycra crowd. Just confirmed my suspicion that mountain bikers are way cooler in general.
  • 8 1
Trainer aka barbell, plates, and power rack.
  • 22 0
I rather enjoy blasting by the amateur roadies on my 44t commuter setup 21lb SC Highball, flat pedals and 5.10s.
  • 7 0
Is it just me, or is the lycra clad roadie people are really high strung?

  • 3 1
Trainer? WTF? That's just a torture box of self-hate.

Fat biking and indoor bike parks during the winter.
  • 4 1
Indoor bike parks? None in my country. Fat bikes don't help when the rain is horizontal and the sun goes down at 4:30. My trainer gets very little use in summer but in the middle of winter stops me from going insane.
  • 4 0
On the other hand, I guess if I went mtn biking in full lycra I'd get some looks of disgust too. But I'd deserve it.
  • 1 0
back in like 08', i had a carbon Kuota with Cosmic Carbones and all Red components. Ran it as a 1x10 with a track chainring so no chain dropping. it weighed like 15.4lbs. and was so damn fun. i would always ride it with flats and 5.10's and a tshirt on and get the most confused looks at stop lights ever from Spandex Avengers. always made me laugh to myself.
  • 7 3
Cyclocross is for roadies that don't know there are things called mountain bikes
  • 3 2
Seriously cx is the ultimate mtb guilty pleasure. A lot of times on my cx bike I feel genuine guilt for not having a suspension or wider tires, But then I get home and realize how much fun it is. Once you are comfortable on the big bikes cx feels like riding again for the first time.
  • 1 0
 @Happymtbfr

rollers. we need rollers on this thread.
  • 35 0
Every time I see one of the C3 slope bikes I start to have palpitations and I fear the only way to stop them is to swap my hardtail DJ bike for a blinged up slope bike. Then I remember I can't even spin the bars.
  • 19 0
My two wheeled guilty pleasure would be a private XC lesson with Paola Pezzo circa 1995
  • 2 0
 @kubaner
Oh myyy. I have to agree.
  • 2 0
But would she be all about the endurance or d'you think she could teach you how to really pump?
  • 2 0

  • 2 0
 I'm just there to learn
  • 30 6
e-bike. It is a bike. It's not a bike. I'd feel guilt being seen on one. But damn, it's fun to ride anything with two wheels a throttle!
  • 6 2
Agredd, and you can hack some of them right out of the box. I got one up to 38mph once
  • 2 1
An E-fat bike would a huge guilty pleasure
  • 1 0
I can imagine the kind of monstrous e-motor trying to power that fat tire...
  • 7 2
Oh yes! 6-Fattie Turbo Levo would be my guilty pleasure... Especially on a random group ride with the local club. I'd like to see those offended faces.
  • 19 2
 Weird poll options.

How is a road bike not an option?

A BMX bike should definitely be in there as well. Either a ultralight BMX race bike, a Trail BMX or a Street/Park BMX...So much fun, so little maintenance, so much reward when you get back on a big bike! Smile

I voted a fat bike. I already own an AM/Trail bike, a hardtail/backup mtb, 2 BMX, a road bike, and a commuter. The only thing missing is a fat bike. Smile
  • 6 0
super pimp, extra light road bike would be my option.
  • 11 0
You're also missing a trials bike.... I'd nearly go and Inspired Skye if someone else was paying. Because I wouldn't spend that sort of money on a trials bike myself.
  • 5 0
It maybe engineered to narrow up your answers just like some politically motivated pools. But at pb, dh is always tbe usual suspect.
  • 4 0
I finally got a road bike to train in winter and when my knee needs TLC. Knocking out 80 miles on muddy days when I would just fuck up the trails anyway is a really good workout. Then I get back on my trail bikes and I see huge gains in stamina and climbing. Great hills around here in Sta Monica mtns and hitting 50-55mph downhill is sick on a good road bike.
  • 17 1
This is tough. I already own a DH/Freeride bike.
I would never spend my own money on a Fat Bike but i would love to have a play around on one just to see what they're like. However an Enduro style bike would be far more practical and useful to me.
But f*ck practicality lets go with the Fat Bike if I'm not paying!
  • 5 0
Nice. Wouldn't be a true 'guilty' pleasure if you had to factor in practicalities!
  • 1 0
Yeah I am in exactly the same position, but I chose dirt jump bike. Weird poll really.
  • 14 1
Here in Newfoundland where winter is actually snowy, a fat bike would be a welcome addition to allow for riding all year round in deep snow.
  • 3 0
Amen, central BC, snow of some sort for 5 months. I've been winter riding for years but with the growing popularity of Fatties I gotta say it's on my radar & wishlist now. I would say a full on DH but at my age that's probably a hospital bed waiting to be filled.
  • 5 1
I tried a Specialized Stumpjumper 650 Fatty last week on the fatbike trails here in Quebec, now my Intense Tracer 275 is on sale....
  • 13 0
I want a tricycle. Yes, I know you're going to tell me the same "2 is enough" answer I get from my girlfriend.
  • 1 0
Hey, tadpole trikes are legit. Might not be good for busy streets, but on the flat you'll outrun absolutely anything that doesn't have a full fairing.
  • 12 1
that akward moment you realize you already own most of these and you might have a problem....
  • 11 0
 no trials bike?
  • 5 0
Yeah talk about a one trick pony.
  • 1 0
Yeah I voted 4X as they seem so fun and nimble but a trials bike looks even more fun. And yeah I'll probably be useless on it so it is excellent for this poll.
  • 6 0
Trick question since I really need all of those. But if I have to... I guess I'm the geek that makes a cruiser out of a FS Slalom bike. A cross bike would be cool to ride the Pavement in the winter when the trails are mud.
  • 5 0
That makes two of us. For months I've been dreaming of putting a 200mm dropper, a Rohloff, Thickslicks, and lockout suspension on a slopestyle bike - the ultimate commuter in LA, where the streets can get dodgy pretty quick. Just gotta slap on one of those fake rust paint jobs.
  • 1 0
man, that would be sick who is making a 200mm dropper right now?
  • 2 0
@j12j: So far as I know, only Vecnum makes a 200mm dropper at the moment. It's not infinitely adjustable, but on the upside, the actuator cable runs to the collar, which is advantageous as slopestyle bikes don't generally have stealth routing, and cables routed to the post head are just dumb.
www.vecnum.net/bike-parts/adjustable-seatpost/moveloc-seatpost.html

9point8 has also made a 200mm Fall Line. I don't know if it's been greenlighted for production or not; supposedly they wanted to gauge public reaction before committing. I've heard some interest in it here on Pinkbike, so hopefully they decide to make it. It's a little more modern than the Vecnum, having both stealth routing and infinite adjust, On the other hand, you have to be comfortable drilling a small hole somewhere discreet.
www.bikerumor.com/2015/09/17/ib15-9point8-stretches-the-fall-line-dropper-post-to-175-and-200mm-travel

I've actually put a fair amount of consideration into this little thought project. Not many full-suspension slopestyle bikes have enough straight seat tube to fit the Vecnum, and of those that do, even fewer have concentric bottom bracket pivots (desirable for their easy compatibility with street-smart singlespeed and internal gear hub builds). The NS Soda Slope is one of them.
  • 7 1
A 26" full sus trail ripper with modern geo, quality suspension, absolutely no carbon fibre, good quality long lasting components with no "new standard" bollox....oh and a rad paint job...oh and not called a f**king Enduro bike! When you think about it its not much to ask...we used to have that just a handful of years ago didnt we?
  • 4 0
 Transition Suppressor
  • 4 1
We are building a 26" full sus trail ripper. No carbon, and will last a looong time. Keep your eyes open for it.
  • 1 1
Cool, will look forward to seeing that .It could be the future of modern mountain biking.
  • 9 1
Guilty pleasure to get a downhill bike!? The only thing I'd feel guilty about is not riding it fast enough.
  • 2 0
 Or often enough!
  • 8 0
This has got to be the most "Obvious market research for bike company" driven article on pinkbike so far.
  • 9 1
No option for a hardtail I see
  • 1 0
I accidentally have you negative probs with my fat fingers. I'm sorry. I totally agree with your comment
  • 5 0
Man, give me a beach cruiser, a mild, sunny day and 20 miles of SoCal boardwalks, and I'd be almost as happy as flying down Porcupine Rim in Moab. I just love riding bikes, and each type of ride has its own thing, ya know?
  • 3 0
Had to answer honestly....I picked XC bike since I would like to see how many more I could break. I own a DH bike which could never be a guilty pleasure....have an Enduroish bike that kicks ass....I'm to fat and scared for either a slope or 4x bike.....fat bike isn't useful in my area. One bike I would like to have is an E-bike so I could slay a trail then burn it so no one knew it ever existed.
  • 4 0
XC Race machine for this guy! I absolutely love being able to climb with maximum efficiency and speed but like hucking myself too much for me to justify it so for now I'll stick to my big bike.
  • 1 0
I borrow my buddies Sworks Epic WC sometimes and there is nothing like it. Fucking incredible fun. And there is something special about riding super gnarly shit on an XC bike. The 30mm Command Post XCP is a must though.
  • 8 1
A 29+ DH bike, just to piss everyone off.
  • 1 1
And accidentally win the race while you are at it...
  • 3 0
A pedal able freeride bike would be perfect! I used to ride a status set up all mountain style with a 2x, dropper, single crown, air suspension and a comfy saddle. It was safe to say there wasn't a thing that bike couldn't descend or climb!
  • 2 0
Get a GT Sanction or Santa Cruz Nomad. Hard charging enduro machines such as these are the new freeride bikes.
  • 3 1
No, they aren't. I'm talking a pedal able 180-200mm bike. If it doesn't take a full face helmet, it's not freeride.
  • 6 0
Offroad plus sized recumbent with cup holders
  • 2 0
I answered slopestyle after seeing that new Transition. I don't need it, and certainly don't have the balls or ability to do it justice but's so pretty. My true guilty pleasure would be a bigger garage to fit more bikes in.
  • 3 0
I bought an enduro as a "do everything bike" last spring so I don't need more than one bike for simplicity and things. Then in the fall I bought a downhill sled anyway. Because of reasons Smile
  • 1 1
I did that too. Went from my 6" bike to DH. Now we are doing a 6" bike, because some days, i just want a lighter bike to climb and cruise.
  • 4 2
 So...

If you already own:
Downhill / Freeride Bike
Dirt Jump / Slopestyle Bike
4X / Slalom Bike
XC Race Bike

That leaves:
Adventure / Bike-packing Bike
Enduro Race Bike
Fatbike

Well seeing as the Enduro bike is pointless when you own a dh bike and a trail bike, that leaves me fatbike or adventure bike.

I'll go with adventure fatbike please.

Get rid of the DH and the trail bike, buy a 275+. Will change your life forever.
  • 3 1
yeah...I'll go slower round an xc loop than I would on my xc bike, and slower on uplift days than I would on my dh bike. great...
  • 1 0
Have you tried one? I have, so I'm speaking from experience.
  • 1 0
yup. I have. Its slower round an xc loop than an xc bike, slower down a hill than a dh bike. The fastest bike up and down the mountain will always be an xc wippet. the fastest bike down the mountain will always be a dh bike.
  • 1 0
Pretty good for a 1 bike does all, I think that's the point. I've had the " 1 bike for the 1 discipline " 1 road bike, 1 enduro, 1 Dh, 1 XC....takes up a lot of room in the stable, and not to mention is about $16,000 in bikes. Try to explain that theft to your insurance company. What you said has some validity, but consider the alternatives. Are you racing XC? Are you racing enduro? Are you racing DH? whats the point of having 4 bikes when you can only ride 1 at a time?
  • 1 0
Lol, having literally 10 minutes ago spent £400 on a track bike I will likely never use, (as pointed out to me both before and after the sale by my lovely lady friend) you are fighting a lost cause there mate Razz Bike number 9 added to the fleet.

But yeh, I do race dh, so not getting rid of the dh bike anytime soon. And it is hard enough to persude me to pedal up a hill in the first place, and thats before sticking 160mm of travel and monster tryes on the bike...
  • 4 0
Rigid single speed. They offer such great insight and practice in line choice, body position, body mechanics, flow etc. Absolutely a luxury but a load of fun.
  • 1 0
Prop for you, but I don't know if bikes like that have to be a luxury. I want to see department stores selling 26" steel rigid singlespeeds with Deore brakes, decent rubber, and KS eTen droppers. Most "entry-level" mountain bikes try to pack on as many gears and fiddly bits as possible, when for the same price one could build a musc simpler machine that'll actually help a new rider learn solid fundamentals.

.....On the other hand, would I have bought something like that as my first mountain bike? Doubtful.
  • 2 0
I've had nearly every type of bike out there at this point. The bike I miss more than any other has got to be my Norco Two50. There is nothing quite like an ultra durable street/dirt jump bike. The minute you roll out of your front lawn the entire world becomes a playground. I used to spend hours and hours on a random curb or some small rise of asphalt. It's a great feeling to slowly roll around a city and get creative! Why did I sell it?!
  • 1 0
I have, DH/FR rig,a hardcore hardtail an my hardtail 4X race bike but, the bike missing that I really would like (especially now I'm getting older!) is a full Susser for my 4X racing. When I got back into mtb around 2007 the popular bikes where DH an 100mm "play" bikes. Now Enduro an trail bikes have gotten massively popular it seems the industry has forgotten the play bike. Sure there's a few slope rigs an some custom short travel hardcore shred sleds in the media, they're actually rare as rocking horse poop!!!
A Yeti 4X would be ideal, why the fk did they cease production!!
  • 4 0
3-5 speed street trials bike with 3in travel fork... always wanted to build a sweet one!
  • 1 0
Feeling guilty about pleasure is ridiculous. And mountain biking is as dorky as anything on the planet already (but I understand the push to create an "other" to prop yourself up).

Shed your shame, let your (mild) freak flag fly.
  • 1 0
I don't have any mountains anywhere near me here in N.E. Wisconsin (@ 700' above sea level) and have had a DH bike since '07... Makes no sense except that it makes me travel to find places to ride. Like Copper Harbor, MI & Whistler, etc...
  • 5 0
I tried my friends Fatty and he can keep it, I keep my M9
  • 1 0
I would have voted slope style but it was lumped in with DJ. I have a DJ bike that I can't utilize to it's full potential already. But I sure like the way a slope style bike looks. I would be a gigantic poser on a slope style bike.
  • 3 0
I'm so happy I have a full stable of 6 bikes. I've collected all my bikes over the years, even my first mtb from 1998 which I still ride on occasion. I've never sold a bike!.
  • 1 0
My guilty pleasure is buying the Evil Insurgent frameset, when i already own a capable AM/Enduro bike, and was fully intending on the next $ i spend on riding would be for a DH rig.

Consider this a PSA, demo'ing the Insurgent is dangerous business for your wallet.
  • 1 0
I'd love a slopestyle bike even tough I'm pretty sure I'll never do a backflip in my life. But hey, theres gonna be an indoor bikepark opening really close to my home in a year or two, so, why not ... I already have the downhill bike and a frankensteined 26in "enduro" bike.
  • 4 0

Trials bike? BMX? Cruiser? Carrier bike? Pennyfarthing?
  • 2 0
Sold the downhill bike to have an all round machine. No regrets, but it's always fun to swing a leg over a big bike and charge
  • 2 0
I would say a lightweight Xc/trail 29er with 120mm suspension, but with a modern enduro style geometry (long tt, short stem, slank HA etc)
  • 2 0
Except for the bikepacking-adventure bike erh.. had 'm all in the past. What I did not try yet is a trials bike. Guess what's not in the list..

Sincw I own a hardtail that I ride pretty much everywhere cause I can't afford a stable full of bad ass bikes. A 27.5+ Enduro bike would be my guilty pleasure since it would be a better all around mtb.

What about trials or bmx? I would love to get into one of those if I had the time and money to do so

Would "riding flats with a downhiller to show of those double crowned kashima-coated goodnesses" count as one?
  • 1 0
A Downhill and an All Mountain bike are a must have for me, but for some extra fun on the side I'd have to go with a fat bike.
  • 1 0
I'd actually say a TT bike since I have no reason to ever ride one since I barely ride road as it is (and even then it's a cross bike) but damn do those bikes look sleek. . .

 transition smuggler!! @TransitionBikeCompany
oh wait already have one, just getting out on it is a guilty pleasure
  • 1 0
Seeing I already own a DH and Enduro bike that I'm absolutely happy about I think it would be a 4X/Slalom bike to run and play around town...
  • 3 0
less digger built trails, more hardcore natural trails.
  • 1 0
Needs a Single speed option. Have Downhill, 140mm Trail and Fat (we get snow). A steel single speed is the next thing I'm curious about.
  • 1 0
What about a Road Bike Cycle Cross Bike option? Money be dammed I would gladly hang a New $16,000 S-works Venge in the garage.
  • 1 0
There is no bike you don't really need if you want it. You already have a plan in mind if you want it! There is just bikes you don't need an don't want.
  • 2 0
I only said 4x because it was the closest thing here to an AM steel hardtail.
  • 1 0
I changed my mind... Drift trike.
  • 2 0
My guilty pleasure is to put on lycra shorts and go ride on the road.

HA ! What you gonna do, now ?
  • 2 0
Kind of hard to answer when you already have a dh bike, trail bike, dirt jumper/ slope bike, xc bike and a road bike
  • 2 0
This is the most predictable poll ever
  • 1 0
 Ohhhh
Street Trials....I'm way too old and would break my nuts but I've always wanted to try it Smile

I just wanna ride 26 for the rest of my life, whatever the bike I'm on

My guilty pleasure would be to just ride the bike I have more than I already do.
  • 1 0
I'd love a properly light full suss xc bike, I'd be well up for giving one of those a go.
  • 1 0

  • 2 1
 LOL you Lazy.
  • 1 0
that'd have to be a downhill or freeride bike, just as i love fat bikes, adventure bikes, and versatile 140-170mm bikes.
  • 1 0
Where is my PLUS size bike option. That's one that actually I will use predominantly. No electric bikes please. Thank you.
  • 1 0
I think a good portion of pinkbike users have several bikes for several disciplines.
  • 2 0
 no option for trials bike?
  • 1 0
My dream bike is a hardtail actually. An Orange Subzero with a Z1 would be paradise! I gotta sell the Glory and do that!
  • 1 0
It doesn't get any more specialized or niche than a trials bike. That would be my vote.
  • 1 0
bright, sexy, carbon, semi-aero, hellaciosly expensive Italian road race bike with Lightweight wheels.
  • 1 1
I don't really see that an Enduro race bike should be in a list of guilty pleasures. It is just the bike you buy when you don't want to buy guilty pleasure bikes
  • 2 0
id love a trials bike! But i picked fatbike...
  • 1 0
Black Sheep 36' I saw at NAHBS in Sacramento a few years back. The bomb... Actually lots of bikes from that show.

Just got 5 inches of snow in CT yesterday, so a fat bike is looking pretty good right now.

It's all right with my bikes, proper trails and time to ride them is my luxury

xc, lighter than a road bike and just as fast.
  • 1 0
Is this even really a question??
  • 5 8
My two wheeled guilty pleasure... I'd like to be strangled with plastic foil to a Santa Cruz V10cc, with naked genitals sticking out. Then I'd like an attractie woman, a Bike mechanic and a Jewish Rabbi to walk into the room, each holding a microwave oven... Nevermind
